Porter brewed with coffee. Served it to myself in a pint glass. Freshest by 02/01/2013 (so, not entirely fresh).

Very dark cola brown with a light sepia head. Crowned at a humble half-inch and stuck as a dense third of an inch. Looks creamy.

Husky grain, dark roastiness, and only a hint of coffee in the nose. Some lax tinniness that I can't really explain. Smells somewhat similar to Yuengling Porter, not that that's a bad thing. Just was expecting a sweeter and more robust aroma.

Mild coffee gets mostly drowned out by dark roasty malts and a burnt nuttiness. Light hints of dark fruits. Backdrop of dry toffee. The whole flavor profile is rather dry. It's still hearty and almost savory with brothy elements surfacing here and there. Could definitely use some more brawn, and a sweetness might bring out the additives more. I can't help but think this letdown is a product of its age.

Drinks with upped carbonation. The body is on the thin side. It's not really satisfying me on this chilly and rainy March evening.

Merely ok. I need to get my mitts on a fresher bottle and do a re-review, proper. Until then, folks...

12oz bottle poured into pint

Opaque blackness with little to no head/lacing. That's about it.

Plenty of roasted beans and iced coffee scents in the nose. Hints of caramel and baker's chocolate with toasted dark malts.

Slightly sweet coffee and cream up front. Chocolate and caramel backbone with roasted malts and a hint of coffee bitterness. Nicely balanced, finishes with a snap of freshly brewed iced coffee.

Lighter medium body, decent carbonation, smooth and crisp on the tongue, although slightly thin. Easily one of PBC's better beers, I'd drink this again on occasion.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a standard pint. Side note: I've enjoyed this beer for a while now every time it comes around. It seems even better this year, I'm getting more coffee out of this.

Second side note: Best served slightly less than cold.

Appearance: Pitch black with a tanish head that sticks around for a little. Looks the part and keeps its head.

Smell: On point, smells like a pot of coffee.

Taste: This year I'm picking up more coffee than before. This almost tastes straight up like coffee in beer form. Besides that, obviously malts in the background, and ever such a slight amount of hops at the end. Coffee also comes out better if this isn't served ice cold, so if you're drinking it that way, you may "be doin' it wrong." It's great. I don't get why people don't like this. Maybe they're bias towards Yards beers or something. This is a great beer. Was before, seems even better this year.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, kind of goes down... like coffee. Carbonation isn't too bad.

I really do adore this beer. This is also from someone who dug that coffee Pepsi from way back when, so take that for what you will.
