12oz bottle poured into pint glass.
Pours a very cloudy gold/yellow color with a full bone white head that vanishes quickly. The nose is quite unique. Grapefruit, orange peel, and some herbs and spices. Palate is also non-traditional. Floral herbs, citrus and a little spice. Not terrible but not great either. Mouthfeel is pretty fluid but still has a good presence on the tongue. Fairly drinkable wit but there are alot of better options out there.

a- bottle poured into a weizen, hazy light gold straw coloring, an inch of head fades fast to a layer of bubbling lace.
s- light wheat, lots of lemon, pepper, some spice, hard to pinpoint but herbal and floral.
t- floral, powdery, light citrus, tart - unripe berries, citrus peel, floral, light wheat, this is an a-typical wit.
m- light to medium body, coating.
d- good, i kind of enjoyed the fact that this didn't conform to type, it's still very drinkable and goes down easy.

Poured chilled into a pint glass, it pours a hazy golden straw color with a very thin eggshell head on the surface. Nothing really special, but true to form.
Grapefruit obviously hits me on the nose first along with a maltiness. Some grain comes through as well in the form of straw.
Flavor is quite weak, but it is a wit beer after all. Slight grapefruit flavor along with some what I think is a smoky flavor, and that flavor lasts through the swallow.
Thin body brew with very little to offer in terms feel. Watery.
Overall, this is an easy-to-drink brew for the simple fact that I could probably drink a case throughout a day and not feel a thing. It's not bad tasting, but it's just a standard wit that leaves nothing to be desired.

Finally getting around to reviewing the PBC walt wit...
Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass, color is translucent golden light copper, slightly orange, no head which i thought was odd cause i have seen it on this beer many times before.
Smell is not overpowering, but well done, feint malt hints with yeasty, wheaty, biscuity scents and hint of hops, fruit and spiciness.
Taste is a bit sour, but not fruity, probably the carbonation clingy the tongue followed by wheat, yeast and feint malt.
Mouthfeel is a bit sour, hitting the sides of the tongue, but balancing the flavors well throughout.
This is one my preferred belgian wits, it has grown on me as the style has as well. Another solid PBC brew.

Drank Cold from Bottle in APhiladelphia Brewing Company Sampler Pack.
Drank Cold around 45 Degrees.
Its got a strong Citrusy-orange peely taste with hints of other citrus and hops. The first one went down smooth at first, then became bitter towards the end. I found it harder to drink the second it just seemed to increasingly taste more bitter as I went along. The smell comes of as a nice citrus mix.
On the upside.
Best beer I've ever had named for a Deceased Poet.

I was slow to warm to Philadelphia Brewing beer, but I am starting to have more regard for it. And this beer is leading the way. It is light, delicate, and tasty. Because of it's low ABV and robust flavor, it makes an excellent session beer, particularly in summer.
Pours a hazy orange-yellow with a slight white head. The aroma is slightly sour, with a pleasant fruity quality, like apricot with a whiff of jasmine. The flavor is sharp and sour, almost lemony, with apricot and pear bringing up the rear. There is a tight, dry bitterness on the finish. The mouthfeel is thin and dry, but leaves me wanting more.

Appearance. Fantastic. Very cloudy golden. Not transparent. Some particles present. Carbonation is there but is hard to see. A lot of head. Good lacing. Looks very appealing.
Smell. Pure grapefruit and citrus. Smells like a witbier.
Taste. Hops and fruit. That's it. Great.
Mouthfeel. Lacking compared to the taste. Light.
Drinkability. High as well. Goes down easy.
Very good overall. Fruity.

Pours into my hop tulip glass from Sierra Nevada with a pale clouded grapefruit juice tone to it orange golden . Bright white head forms scattered fine speckled lacing as it dwindles. Aroma gives off a nice grapefruit and cloudy chamomile spiciness with a sharp wheat base. Flavor is quite bitter for a wit, I believe this is due to the grapefruit peel additions and the spicy chamomile that I describe as marshmallow tea. Mouthfeel is medium to lighter bodied with a nice sturdy carbonation base, cleans the palate well. Drinkability is awesome, a really unique on an overdone style another reason to support an awesome PA brewery.

More hoppy than I was expecting. Does this make it more attractive or less true to its class? I dunno.
Further sips are more forgiving. Hops meld into a pronounced citrus taste, and this balances pretty well with the carbonation.
I have a feeling that this beer would score higher and higher with further samples. It is definitely worth a sit-down session.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy light brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus and grains. Taste is of grapefruit, a bit tart, some grains and spices. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this makes for a decent brew.

As far as witbiers go, this is even thinner, less tasty, and lighter than most. It pours a hazy golden color with a touch of lace and a white slightly fizzy head. There is ample carbonation in this beer. The nose is lemony and coriander, but it is not at all assertive.
The taste has all the usual suspects. There is a light wine cooler like citrusy ale flavor, some wheaty graininess, some spices in the coriander family, maybe a touch of peppery snap towards the finish. There is a definite lemony flavor in the beer and just enough prickliness to keep things honest. The problem with this beer is that there just isn't enough "there" there. It is really lacking character because of its thinness. The lemony tartness comes through in the aftertaste, and if not for that, you wouldn't know you were drinking a beer.

S - sour dough bread. the bottle says grapefruit peel, i can pick that up too
T - wheat, citrus, herbal flavors
M - very light. watery
D - not my favorite style, but was part of the variety case. i'll certainly drink the 5 others, but probably wouldn't buy again

12 oz. bottle: This one pours a cloudy, golden yellow color. There was a huge white head on it that makes it difficult to pour into a glass. Lighter aroma. Mainly notes of wheat and spices. Lighter body also. Some wheat, citrus and spices. A touch tart in the finish. Not bad, but a bit thin. A good lawnmower beer.

Poured from a bottle from a PBC variety case into a Petrus chalice.
A- Looks like a bright, sunny day, which incidentally, today is. Fluffy white head recedes quickly for what I guess is an unfiltered offering, but leaves a big-bubbled collar, judging by the sentiment at the bottom of the bottle. Body is opaque and a dull citrus tone.
S- Clean sour wheat with a lot of citrus. The grapefruit peel comes through in pink, with a hint of cloves or allspice. Pleasant, but a little more subtle than it seems it should be.
T- Tasted like I put a lemon wedge in it, even though I didn't, followed quickly by some chewy wheat grains that hit the same spots as the rye in PBC's Rowhouse Red. A little on the watery side, with a dry throaty aftertaste. Refreshing and clean.
M- Sharp carbonation that is immediately taken over by the frothiness of the bottle conditioning. Thin and fresh.
D- Throw a couple back on a hot summer afternoon. Goes down like a light beer.
Wit is definitely not my favorite style, but I won't kick it out of my bed for eating crackers. Still, this beer seems to be missing something that would take it from the average category to the good.

A: Very pale yellow in color, the appearance reminds me of grapefruit juice, a finger thickness of tightly packed head, lots of activity in the beer - 3.50, S: A touch of tartness on the nose, noticeable wheat, a little bit of zest and citrus - 3.50, T: The palate on Walt Wit is somewhat meek, at the same time it has a bit of sharpness and acidity, I pick out the citrus and also get an herbal tea-like flavor - 2.75, M: Thin and light bodied - 2.50, D: An okay beer, I'd appreciate a little more zing or stronger flavors - 3.00

-L- Very Pale yellow. Little cloudy. Light head that disipated very quickly.
-S- Like the scent of a thousand Grapefruits. So strong my wife could not get it by her nose to even drink this.
-T- There is that grapefruit again. No after taste what-so-ever. Sour.
-F- So light it felt like seltzar water in my mouth.
-D- Not impressed. The grapefruit is not my taste and by far not the best White Ale I have ever had. I don't think I will be going down the Walt Wit road again.

A: This beer pours a golden yellow with some haze and a tall two-finger white head. The head lingers a while and there is some great lacing on the sides of the glass.
S: Smell of banana bread, cloves, coriander, honey, wheat and fresh apricots. Hops are floral, jasmine and honeysuckle.
T: Sweet meets tart with a mix of honey, wheat, coriander, apricot and grapefruit. Touch of banana and vanilla with tartness of some citrus peel and chamomile. Hops add bitterness and some spice to the flavor.
M: Smooth medium body with crisp carbonation.
D: One of PBC best beers! Well balanced and full of flavor. It is easy to drink with low alcohol and not filling.

Same visit. I consider it an honor and a privilege to hang out here and sample and review beers while doing so.
My fave Walt Whitman poem is "Mannahatta", which reads like a release from the NYC Bureau of Travel and Tourism and which I use as a couterpoint to Carl Sandburg's "Chicago", which is a warts-'n'-all homage to the Windy City. Go poets!
Well, the head was like a puffy, white cloud sitting on top of the beer. The color looked like freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice, giving the whole thing an inverted-egg quality. Nose was very spicy, actually peppery, almost inducing a sneeze. Zounds! Mouthfeel was medium with a good admixture of grapefruit bitterness, black pepper, yeasty mustiness, and orange zest on the tongue. I really need to revisit my aversion to this style, it seems. Finish was really dry, approaching Zephyr winds across the Sahara dry. My my.

A: Orange, cloudy, 3/4 inch head. Layers of lacing.
S: Orange and "beer"/ traditoinal lager. Vegetables.
T: Orange, orange spice, water, lager, bread.

D: Fruit smell overpowers everything. Hard to drink, unlike more witbiers I've had that are overall refreshing. A lot of missed smells and tastes here, too much going on.

Pours a cloudy pale straw color, nice creamy head but little retention. Smell is a pleasent mix of belgian yeast, hay, slight spice and mild citrus. Taste is a nice yeasty bread, hay with a decent spice and citrus flavor. Thinner and overly carbonated for the style. Decent tasting beer, would revisit.

A: Pours a hazy golden-yellow color. The white head is moderately tall, creamy, and foamy, with decent retention. Lacing is solid.
S: Yeasty and a bit spicy. Definite notes of citrus - lemon and orange peel perhaps. A pleasant wheaty aroma is also detectable.
T: A nice wheaty flavor along with a tangy yeastiness. Citric notes of orange and lemon. Bitterness is low. Some spice - coriander mostly, perhaps with some pepper.
M: Medium-light body. A bit tingly and creamy.
D: A decent, drinkable American witbier. Thoroughly pleasant, but there's little in the way of style points or wow factor for this beer. Solid, but there are better options.

Belgian-style white ale. Poured into tulip glass. Small head, doesn't retain very long. Nice and cloudy. Aromas imediately of citrus, grapefruit, and spice.
As far as taste...it's pretty good. Definately tastes like it smells. Full of citrus/grapefruit flavors. Had at about 40 degrees. Have to give a thumbs up to a small brewery...pretty decent.
