Beautiful copper red color with a tan head. Good lace. Sweet malt and fruity hops in both the nose and taste. Sugary, sweet liquid. Great balance of malt and hop and definitely not as hop forward as I expected but its awesome for the style. Smooth and easy drinking. I had high expectations for this beer and they were met. Delicious brew. Still good in May when I think it was released in March.

Bottled 3/17/13 Bought at Quality Liquors in Salem.
A - Dark amber color, was not expecting it to be so dark and my fears were later confirmed that this was a much more malt balanced beer than the title indicated. Nice bubbly head but it didn't last very long at all.
S - Best part of the beer. Fresh hop aroma, citrus-grapefruit and malt together great combination.
T - Has a nice hop taste up front, but there was a whole lot of malt taste in this beer considering how fresh I bought it, and because the beer didn't have much carbonation which lead to a light english style flavor.
M - Although the head was well formed, the beer was sort of flat and didn't carry the malt over as well. This could be a potentially delicious cask ale.
O - Nice ale to warm up with while the spring is coming on. Darker than most other spring style or session ales. Quality choice for the value in a six pack, especially if you're a fan of mayflowers other beers.

poured from a bottle with a clear date of 2/26/13
pours a medium mahogany with red hues. big white head that dissipates at a medium pace...
almost smells bitter. hoppy "green" smellwith a bit of dark bread. a bit of citrus, a bit of earth, a bit of pine. very nice
tastes just like it smells. starts light, transitions to a sweet flavor with grassy and tangerine hop flavor. bitterness hits towards the end with some pine and earth. Very bold bitterness towards the end, which really compliments the lighter hop flavor and mild sweetness at the beginning and middle. Malts are of very mild bread, a hint of blackberry and the slightest bit of caramel and toffee. Hops are just fantastic!
lighter body than you would expect from the appearance with a low carbonation that carries its aggressive bitterness. good lingering hop bitterness.
A simply fantastic beer. In a world where you can buy fresh summer beer before spring hits, this is a breath of fresh air! I'd love to see this year round. Very tasty, good hoppiness and drinkable as all hell. Great great stuff!
