12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass. 2/5/13 bottle date.

Appearance: This beer poured a small head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale orange color with slow moving bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Light citrus and grapefruit hops followed by caramel and bready malts.

Taste: Flavors have diminished and lighter than expected. Nice tingly bitterness in the end to.

Mouthfeel: Low carbonation, crisp, a bit dry, medium bodied, and some tingly bitterness in there too.

Overall: I have had this on draft plenty of times, but the bottle tastes different. Citrus hops are more noticeable at the bar, but at home they are lightened up from what I an used to. This is still a good beer though.

Appearance: Clear, dark orange, with some gold and amber - small, off-white head fades to a wispy hint of a cap - despite the relatively low carbonation, leaves some nice streaks of lacing

Smell: Caramel malts and some floral, citrusy hops - maltier than average, with caramelized malts, sweet biscuits, and toffee - floral orange and tangerine, with a lot of mellow, sweet flesh - doesn't smell particularly aggressive or bitter

Taste: Nicely balanced and drinkable - slices of orange and tangerine, with something lightly tropical, like mango - some ruby red grapefruit as well - sweet, but not excessively so, malty - caramel, biscuits, and toffee - balances nicely with the moderately bitter hops - a light touch of booze in the finish, as well as some pith

Mouthfeel: Medium body, smooth, a bit oily, could use a little more carbonation, boozy finish

Overall: Very good, but not top tier

This is a solid IPA. There's just so much competition in this style. This could be a bit hoppier, and a bit more carbonated. It's a bit too sweet. But it's charming nonetheless. I would be happy to drink this again.

Appearance shows off a nice thick long lasting head. This is not at all a citrus hop bomb very common now a days from North American IPA’s. Taste and aroma is quite balanced between toffee-like malt and earthy/pine hop notes. However, the hops just slightly tip the balance in their favor (obviously, as to be expected) with a crisp, sharp, earthy bitterness on the palate. I could easily believe that this was barrel aged (it isn't), as there’s a faint woodiness inherent in the beer.

Overall a very enjoyable beer.

On-tap at Union Brewhouse in Weymouth, MA.

A: Golden-orange in color with the typical head. Off-white with pillowy lacing.

S: Fruity and piney nose. Very nice.

T: Big floral and juicy hops. A West Coast hop profile with an East Coast malt bill to balance it out.

M: Super smooth with tons of flavor and the right carbonation.

O: I was hoping this beer would be this good. An impressive IPA from a great brewery.

Presentation: Bottle from a six pack picked up pretty recently at the store. Bottled on date of 10/2/2012. Served chilled in a Dogfish Head tulip glass.

Appearance: Cloudy dark orange to very light brown in color. Pours a nice two finger, pillowy white head with good retention. The head sticks to the glass pretty heavily and leaves a lacing all the way down the glass.

Aroma: Grapefruit and pine notes upfront from the hops. A pretty solid malt backbone with some caramel and toasted bread. Some grassy and earthy tones from the hops wins out over the limited fruit character of the hops.

Taste: Bitter hop tones dominate. More pine and bitter grapefruit than tropical fruit here. Hugely bitter aftertaste. Definitely some earthy and grassy hop notes in there. The malt backbone is strong like in the aroma. A pretty decent amount of caramel and toasted malt.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with plenty of carbonation. Refreshing enough for a warm day.

Overall, a pretty good IPA for the most part. The bitterness from the hops can be pretty overwhelming. The malt backbone is pretty strong considering the heavy hop bite. Nt a bad local option, but there are certainly better.

Found at Yesterday’s Ale House in Newport, RI this IPA is a somewhat hazy tea color with a respectable off-white colored head and chunky lacing left generously behind. The aroma has a dominant, sharp lemon citrus and tea leaf base. I mean this smells a lot like lemon iced tea to me, which isn’t bad at all, but it’s kind of surprising. The taste buds pick up a somewhat lighter version of the aroma with a bit more of an herbal and grass hop prevalence. The grain and malt aspects bleed through and make for a decent blend of bitterness and mellow sweetness. Carbonation is medium-light, body is medium and the feel is medium-smooth. Not one of the best IPA’s but a fair option for the hop lover.

Chilled bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer had a nice creamy head, but it quickly dissipated. Dark gold color, but not quite amber and cloudy. Almost had a greenish tinge to it which was a little suprising. Aroma was a nice hoppynes without being over bearing. Taste was hop foward, but had a nice sweet malty finish, with just a tinge of lingering hop bitterness. Mouth feel was pleasant and full, but not heavy. Over all, I loved this beer, and I am not a Hop Head! It's hoppy without being over powering and there is a good balance of malt. Would highly recommend as a starter IPA or for those who liked to drink several beers at a time!(Its hard to believe its 7%!)

Appearance- cloudly golden yellow. Thick sustained head. Very beautiful and lasting lacing.

Smell- florals, grapefruit, and malt

Taste- Very different from most AIPAs this was a lot more malty and sweet. Citrussy hops. Malt. Bitter finish.

Mouthfeel- crisp but not as dry as I would like

Overall - This is much more easy to drink than most beers of this style. Not sure if this is a good thing or not. I did enjoy this beer regardless.

Impressive head from the cask pull. Very stable. Appropriately cloudy with a dark orange amber color.

Fresh floral hop aroma with lots of grapefruit rind. Slightly sweet, almost like candied ginger.

Served at 50 - 55 degrees. Mildly sweet with a solid pale malt flavor. Good hop bite finish with a long aftertaste, but this moderate compared to most IPAs. Full bodied and lowly carbonated. Very easy to drink--a good introduction to the style for novices.

Sampled at the NE Brewfest on June 30, 2012. It pours a handsome looking bronze amber with a moderate off-white head and good clarity. The aroma is at first slightly malty but then a decent floral hoppiness kicks in. The body is medium and creamy. There is an excellent bitterness that wraps up the taste at the end. This would be a nice beer to wallow away the hot summer days in.

Had this while vacationing on Cape Cod. The beer is crystal clear amber with an orange glow. Not a huge head, but decent lacing. It was a little yellow in color. Nice balance in the aroma and flavor. Cracker-like malts provide a counterpoint to piny and citrus hops...more citrus in the nose than the taste. This beer does not provide a massive pucker, but delivers decently balanced bitterness. Very crisp, very refreshing and a major surprise for me.

A: Good copper color with apparent carbonation, although not much of a head on the pour.

S: Soft earthy, floral hops, with some light citrus / tropical notes. Definitely more of a British nose than American, in my opinion.

T: Almost malt-driven on the front of the mouth, with more earthy, spicy hops. It does finish nicely bitter.

M: A little on the heavy side of medium body, just slightly sticky. For the most part there's enough bitterness to scrub it, but it does linger a bit. Good carbonation.

O: I feel like this is much more of an English IPA than an American, and as such it's quite good, but a bit of a disappointment for the hop heads.

I poured this beer into a perfect pint glass. It has a nice light amber color body with a nice 2"white foamy, sticky head. The smell is nice of citrus and pine. The taste is nice and hoppy, not real strong but good though. Very nice balance of malt and hop. The mouth feel is well carbonated and goes down nice. Overall this a good ipa and i wish i could get this in Pa.

Had this beer at the brewery as part of the tour. Served in a sample glass. NIce clear amber body and an off white head. Smell of nice citrus fruit and pine. Great resin, fruit flavor. Bitter but not a bomb. Good malt balance. Nice cereal flavor. Medium mouth feel. Great beer and I would have this again.

Mayflower is a nice local offering for me. I really enjoy this beer, and could drink it all day long.

A: Nice copper color with subtle head retention and lacing.

S: A nice floral/grapefruit aroma. Not over powering, but mouth watering.

T: Sweet flavor with a nice grapefruity flavor. Herbal/floral notes as well.

M: Nice carbonation, and a nice level of bitterness.

O: As I said, I could drink this one all day long, and never get tired of it.

Being a hop-head, I LOVE hops! But this one is definitely not overpowering, but it offers a nice balance of hop flavor. And for me, it's all about the hops. This one has four awesome hops: Nugget, Simcoe, Glacier and (one of my all time favorites) Amarillo. It's not a hop monster, but is a delicious hop flavor.

Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a crystal clear, vibrant, amber-copper coloring with a frothy, low profile, light, off-white head. Aromas are subtle, with an even blending of malt and grapefruit/floral hops. Flavors are wicked hop forward, with a resiny blast on the forward tongue, followed quickly by the green, sticky, marijuana-like hops presence that blends with a strong, tart, grapefruit character and a caramel malt backbone. Slightly roasted overall, leading to a hoppy bitter aftertaste. Great lacing on the glass, with a smooth, slightly drying bitter finish. Solid brew!

Received from a great east coast BA'er! Packaged 12/20/11.

Poured a medium amber that was virtually non-translucent and appeared to be totally filtered. A small, bone white, energized head faded to a mere lace around the glass. The smells are of a slight piney hop scent (not sensing citrus) and a bit more of a heavier malt aroma. The tastes are in accord with that. There is no strong hop front and the malts take precedence in this one. The hoppy bitterness I look forward to in this awesome style was only barely present at best. A decent beer and worth a try.

Poured into a 13 oz sniftered, bottled on 1/09/12. Pours dark orange, with some floaties, and a one inch white head that leaves some lacing. Smell is tangerine, pine, and grapefruit. Taste is very balanced nothing dominating, grapefruit comes threw after a few sips. Body is typical, nice amount of life, a touch dry, and very drinkable. This is a very nice IPA, not over the top, nothing to complain about.

This beer pours a nice golden yellow color with a decent sized off white head that lasts a fair amount of time. the smell id bitter spicey floral hops up front with a slight malt backbone hint at the end. the flavor is floral earthy hops up front with a nice bitter bite followed by a light malty finish. the mouthfeel is fairly light with good carbonation. overall this beer is a pretty darn good and fairly drinkable

This beer I first tried at ACBF 2009. It has a traditional IPA appearance, The aroma is what first caught my attention. It woke me up with the strong grapefruit aroma. It is medium bodied and crisp and has a moderate cascade hop finish. This beer was a revelation and is one of the best IPAs I have ever had.

Sometimes a nice light hoppy beer is just what you need. While drinking at Jacob Wirth in Boston, this thing hit the spot. Looks pretty in its yellow translucent shine and large bubbled foamy head that dies after a few minutes, smells great with a punch of hops, and drinks good with a nice light body that brings enough thickness to remind you that you are drinking a beer. Very solid all around, and dangerously "one more please"-able.

Served in a pint glass.

Light amber orange with a little haziness. It had a thin white head because it was poured to the top. It left a little lacing.

Light white grapefruit smell in the front with some graininess in the end.

Nice white grapefruit start that turns a little sweet graininess in the middle. It turns bitter at the end and it is slick on the tongue.
the last couple of warm sips were a little harsh.

Not a bad beer from Mayflower that goes down nice and smooth. This was my first beer of the night and I went down quickly but I let the last couple of sips warm up and it needs to be drank cold. As it warmed up it defiantly turns a little harsh.

12oz. bottle served into a tulip glass. Thanks for the extra, OrangeAmps!

Pours a brilliantly clear light copper color. Hardly a hop haze here in this beer. Eh, forget alliteration; there's no hop haze at all. It's crystal-clear, a perfectly amber window into the carbonation jetting up to the top of the glass. A half-finger of buttermilk head yields lovely crests of lacing in spite of the relative lack of foam.

There are aromas coming out of this hop profile that I would never expect from a Northeast IPA. I'm immediately struck by the lemon, and especially by the subtle purple fruit -- like wildberry Skittles or something. Parts of this hop profile are reminiscent of New Zealand hops, only without the abundant grassy notes. The other parts of the hop profile are what you expect: Oranges and pine, slick with hop resin. The malt demonstrates itself as more toasted than caramel, which is a bit different in an IPA. There's also some faint alcohol notes that pop up as the beer warms. You also have to watch out for the catty component that develops with warmth. I would score this a 4.0 if it didn't smell so very, very strongly of a use litter box after seven minutes. Love that purple fruit though.

Only a trace amount of that berryish flavor comes through on the palate, however. Mayflower IPA is quite conventional tasting, on the whole. It's a nearly neutral balance of citrus fruit and resiny flavors. Not to say that this tastes neutral, but that there's equally as much citrus as there is resin. It's like if a flavor corporation were tasked to come up with a flavor syrup for India Pale Ale; they would come up with how this beer tastes, on the whole. My biggest problem with the beer is with the malt profile. I don't prefer balanced IPAs, personally, sure. But looking past that, there is too much toastiness here. This isn't a supposed to be a Nugget Nectar-style hoppy amber is it? The toasted malts don't play well on the finish, which is lousy with really oily resin flavors and a wallop of cat piss.

The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, but on the lighter side of medium, really. It is less viscous than I feared it would be given its prominent malt flavors. It has a lot of oily flavors which are enhanced by the relative slickness of the mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average IPA. It takes some chances and is actually pretty aggressive in the world of Northeast IPAs (from what I've explored of the region's IPAs anyway). It ultimately ends up being too full of cat piss to truly love, and too malty for my palate anyway. But worth a shot, I suppose. Nothing bad about it.

A- pours into a wine a glass a beautiful faint Amber, capped with a frothy head. A very inviting appearance.

A- Smells of grapefruit pith, a little pine and some cat-piss... I already detect Simcoe.

T- surprisingly refreshing. It scrapes the palate up a bit, and detracts from the enjoyment of other beers. The simcoe isn't domineering, but that's a hard hop to hide. As the beer fleshes out, Simcoe becomes more predominant. As the beer warms, the bitterness becomes a tad too harsh. It starts out very enjoyable, but finishing it takes some effort.

M- sufficient body, even a bit of sticky sweetness. Great for putting down lots of these.

O- If it weren't for the Simcoe, I think this would be a stand-out beer. It does a great job of giving a hop-head his fix. But something about it feels unmatured.
