Looks like this used to be called Indian River and its deff not a Kolsch. Anyway...poured from bottle into pint glass. No head or lacing. Sweet citrus/orange aroma with slight hops, but more malty; but very mild aroma.
Taste is very mild as well. Orangey malts, sweet, and just a bit of hops with a slight bitter aftertaste. This is an ok brew. Nice for a summer day and I would say it would even be a nice "breakfast" brew since its so orange-like. A session beer for a hot day anyway. Its not fantastic, but its not horrible. Its an orange pale ale...in that respect its descent and points for being unique. Meh...

I would definitely call this a Pale Ale and the label even ID's it as such. Part of a beer of the month collection. More hoppy than expected but the flavor combination is only ok. Will give it credit for pouring a very nice head that is still there after 5 minutes.

I had this with my Amazing clubs beer of the month club.

This was a pleasant surprise. Pours a clear amber orange color with a two inch thick head. Clean and crisp and highly drinkable. A medium body nicely balanced with a tight hop character.

Overall - this was a nice beer and clean and refreshing on a 80 degree afternoon.

Was given this beer for free from a friend. Was part of some beer of the month thing.

Color is a nice clear yellow with mild orange hue. Smell is mild hops and pale malts. More maltier than I wanted to expected but finish was crisp. Mouthfeel is light to medium and overall not a bad pale. Worth a try.

Shoal Draft Pale Ale
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
No born on date or other distinguishing numbers

Notes: It appears that Shoal Draft has changed.  What used to be marketed as an Indian River beer now seems to be a Palm Beach Brewing  offering.  From my quick Internet research, it appears Florida Beer Company produces both Indian River and Palm Beach Brewing beers (as well as a few others).  It also appears that Shoal Draft is now a Pale Ale instead of a Kolsch.  Also, judging from the review history on BA (reviews from 2008 then nothing until very recently in 2012) Im guessing this beer was retired then reincarnated as a completely new offering.  Not sure of the reason for the marketing change, one would think they would call this new brew something else, but who knows, maybe they liked the bottle artwork or something.

A: Pours a translucent light amber with 1.5 fingers width of very light khaki colored head, which takes a good while to dissipate down and leaves a good amount of pretty cool cobweb lacing.

S:  A pretty big citrus presence, with notes of lemon.  A white grape aroma.  Has an almost champagne-like character.  A hint of pale, bready malts.

T: A hop presence is the first thing noted in the taste.  Like the nose there is a lemon character.  I also get floral hops and orange rind.  Not a lot going on and not terriblely complex, but decent.

M/D: On the lighter side of medium bodied,  a good dose of carbonation that allows to flavors to fully reach the palate.  A crisp, refreshing mouthfeel that finishes only slightly dry.    Drinkability is high.

O: Overall, not a bad offering.  The hop presence is much less assertive than many pale ales I've had, and I would have liked more hops in the flavor profile.  Decent, I would probably not buy this again, but I would be happy to drink one if it was handed to me.
