Notes:
"This big, glowing, powerful IPA is packed with assertive Northwest hops that are floral, citrusy and resinous. A healthy dose of Munich malt helps to provide backbone and balance against the hoppy attack. The result? Explosive!"
Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner and Munich Malt, Centennial and Cascade hops. 7.0% ABV, 75 BU

On tap. Pours a murky yellow with very little head. Some lacing. Aromas of citrus and some tropical fruits. Taste is of bitter citrus peel and some pine as well. Fair amount of bitterness. Some malt flavor but its mostly bitter citrus peel. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery. Not much of an alcohol presence. Overall, its decent but not great. Probably dont need to have it again.

On tap at the brewery today.
Mildly hazy orange, dense white head good ret and lace. Nose has citrus, grapefruit, pith and a moderate malt character. Some chalky aromas are also present. This is sweeter than I like my IPAs. On the palate, this opens with a moderate hop bitterness and a nice hop flavor. This is, however, sweeter than it needs to be. The Munich malt lends some bready sweetness, which is nice, but ultimately, it gets in the way of a very nice hop flavor. There's a pleasant blend of grapefruit, grapefruit zest, orange and some pine. Mildly sweet, this beer is medium-light and moderately carbonated. Decent, but its big brother Molten Lava is a step up

500ml bottle into NB snifter. Thanks again, Ryan.
A: Pours a deep golden amber with three fingers of off-white head that slowly faded into a thick and lasting collar leaving streaks of sticky lace along the way.
S: Citrus and pine hops, pineapple, lightly sweet caramel, and bready malts. Smells good.
T: Sweet caramel and pale malts, grapefruit juice, pineapple, and tangerine peel come through up front. The finish is full of pine sap and the aftertaste is sweet, bitter and lingering. Fruity aftertaste too.
M: Fuller body, slick and heavy mouthfeel, smooth and soft carbonation. Drinks smooth and easy.
O: A solid ipa, great flavors, great balance. Not super bitter, soft sweetness, easy to drink.

500 ml bottle into Ommegang belgian glass
A - Nice golden orange color. Bright white head with really good retention and fair amount of lacing. A touch of haze.
S - First impression - smells like a beer from Germany. Must be the Munich Pilsner malt coming through. Really surprised me. Second impression - VERY strong floral and lemon hop aroma. Some mineral aroma.
T - Much like the aroma. Noticeable but nice graininess in the flavor. A tad "soapy" for me. Complex and lingering aftertaste.
M - Nice mouthfeel. Good carbonation, cleans the palate. Has presence. Minor but noticeable astringency is overshadowed by the good stuff.
O - When I dream about American IPA's, this is not what I'm dreaming about. However, it does remind me of other Northwest IPA's I've had, and they actually label it as a Northwest IPA... So, I think it is pretty true to the brewers intentions. I thought it was fine, but it's not one I would make a point of drinking. If memory serves, I think fans of Deschutes Inversion IPA and maybe Bridgeport IPA would really like this beer. It's not bad, per se, just not my personal cup of tea.
Big thanks to my friends Amy and Matt for this awesome Christmas present. I can't find this beer where I live and was thrilled to try this!

16.9oz : tulip
Clear, golden orange with a thick, foamy white head with nice retention and leaves great lacing.
Really surprised by the rather subdued hop profile. Some floral, grassy hop notes, but that is about it. A grainy, biscuit malt backing.
More grassy, floral, leafy hop notes, with the same grainy, biscuit malt backing. Bitter finish.
Medium body, with light, bubbly carbonation.
Not an unpleasant beer, but I was disappointed with the rather weak hop profile.
