Not the Brew's best beer, but for an IPA it's hard to go wrong with this one.

Hard to tell the appearance since it's served in my ceramic mug, decent frothiness on top though.

Has a pretty strong hop aroma and flavor with a bitter aftertaste. I actually find it surprising how much of a hop kick this beer has for this brewpub, which is quite commendable. Some malt backing to help balance things out, but expect it to be mostly hoppy with a raw taste to it.

Tends to be one of their stronger beers as well. A friend of mine always goes for the IPA first (so he can get drunk faster, therefore, cheaper). You can typically find this year round.

This beer is a deep and beautiful dark brown/amber color. Hoppy smell but not overly so, rather malty as well. A solid well balanced IPA, tasty and goes down very well. Never had a beer at the Bear Brew before but this one left a good taste in my mouth!

I ordered this as the only other bear brewpub beer on tap during my visit. The previous beer was the brown ale

A - initially I thought I was served another brown ale. Deep c;ear copper tones, with a minimal head.

S - ah, there's the hops. Yup, this one's an IPA. Not quite a full blown west coast cascade fest, not quite a true reserved english IPA. Seems more of a medium piney / citric hop aroma bolstered by a light caramel malt body.

T - similar to the nose but with a stronger malt sweetness.

M - medium bodied, mildy carbonated, smooth finish.

D - I had two. I could see enjoying a game over 3 of these with an appetizer or two amongst friends.

Color is deep rich copper with a tan head, lots of fine lace all over the glass. Smell is of bitter herbal hops and of butterscotch-like ringwood yeast.

Taste is same as smell. Biting herbal and floral hops. Bitter finish and bitter aftertaste. Medium bodies, the malt stands up a bit but a little heavyhanded with the hops. Other than that though, tasty and would make a nice session beer.
