I really enjoyed my visit here. I went on a Sunday afternoon with my wife, my 1 year old and my sister. it was fairly crowded but we were seated quickly and had great service. The waitress was knowledgeable of the food and beer.
I got the house made French Garlic Sausage which was quite good. The menu had a nice variety of food options.
Their tap selections featured their standard, canned line-up as well as a couple of draft only options. They also had their canned beers available for purchase to go, as well as growler fills.
I was also happy with their website as it has their menu and current tap list, which is really nice.
I would love to visit this place again. Family friendly, good service and good food and drinks all for a reasonable price.

I had the opportunity to visit the Fort George pub in Astoria yesterday and I was very impressed. This place definitely warrants a stop if you are going through Astoria, and the right-minded person might even make a special trip just to go there. I know I will definitely be going back.
When I went in, the place was almost entirely full for the lunch rush, but I got prompt and friendly service immediately. All the staff have a good understanding of the brews and the guy who helped me gave me a knowledgeable run-down of their seasonals and made recommendations. Every other staff member was top-notch as well.
There were on the order of 12 or so available beers, a couple of which I sampled. As has been my experience with their packaged beers, the draft brews were all extremely good. I did not go for their tasting flight, but according to the menu you get a 3oz taster of *everything* they have, including special brews and seasonals. If there is a tap handle for it, you are getting it -- I love this idea.
I had lunch as well, which was quite good, although the highlight here is really the beer. Prices were reasonable; doubly-so for me since I'm so accustomed to paying sales tax. Go Oregon!

My parents live in Astoria, so I make sure to stop by here every time I am in town. The atmosphere is top-notch, they have done a great job restoring the old warehouse into a fun, and quirky place to be. The main pub has great big wooden tables and exposed beams which look great. You can also see part of the brewing operations through a glass window (always a plus to see where the beer you are drinking comes from). The food is excellent, with lots of locally sourced ingredients used. The beer is great, with many different styles covered. My favorite is the Vortex IPA. Some of their seasonals are also very good (Coffee Girl Stout, Spruce Bud Ale).
They have recently expanded their operations, to include a separate building where they do most of their brewing and also canning. This building has a smaller taproom which is fun to visit. They usually have beers on tap out here that are not available in the main pub, generally something barrel aged.
I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Oregon's north coast.

We made a trip up to Astoria from Eugene, just to check out the town. We stumbled across Fort George from a sign on the road. I figured we had to check it out.
When you walk in there are several tables with plenty of people sitting at them, as well as a back porch with several more tables. We sat inside on this rather hot day.
For some reason we had several people come to the table. One for our beer order, one for our food order, one to give us our beer, and one to deliver the food. I wasn't sure who would get our tip.
They had around 10-12 beers on tap. I tried the Oatmeal Pale, while my friend had the Porter. I also had an Albacore tuna sandwich, but it wasn't a tuna fish sandwich like I was expecting. It was rather dry, and not very good. The hummus we had was pretty sub-standard as well. It looks like they just scooped out some store bought hummus.
The prices were pretty reasonable. I think our total bill was around $30, which is what I was expecting to pay anyways. We did grab a couple of the 1811 Lager cans to go, and sat by the beach and watched the sunset.
Check it out if you go to Astoria and want a quick bite and a beer.

Several years separate the first and second times we visited Fort George, located a gently-sloped three blocks from the wharfs and piers of Astoria's waterfront. Back in 2007, we visited on a dreary April afternoon (the one MONTH anniversary of the brewpub, as I recall). Then weried all 6 of the available house brews (plus the wasabi-ginger ale), noshed on some locally-made sausages and called it good. Liked the place and vowed we'd return whenver we made it back to Astoria...
Didn't anticipate a 4 year+ gap between trips! In those years, Fort George (don't dare call them 'Ft. George'!) has expanded into an adjacent space for brewing, and more recently canning (appropriate with the tons fishing/canning heritage), and has become a solid player among regional Northwest craft breweries.
The pub is a wonderful, spacious place. Lively on a Saturday afternoon, this former automotive sales/repair shop (ca. 1920s) is filled with light at its front windows, which offer glimpses of the Columbia River, and is darker towards the back-end brewery. Despite some touristy action (ourselves included), there's a fair 'local' feel here, with a 'mug club' gathering around an L-shaped bar and live music on many nights. Some of the coolest bar stools I've seen, with twisted metal vines, sturdily-forged bases and spliced wood seats ring the bar and gather in clusters around raised tables. Some outdoor tables (it was overcast but dry this afternoon) on a concrete terrace expands the seating options... but it was a little cool, even in early August, on this day.
Many of the six beers from 2007 are still around, so the foundation was well-set early on. On this menu were standards like Quick Wit, Nut Red, Sunrise Oatmeal Pale, Vortex and Working Girl. The newly minted (and delicious) 1811 Lager, the hearty/strong Cavatica Stout and the lightly fruity (thanks to added olallieberries) Divinity rounded out the standards; seasonals like Murky Pearl (oyster stout) and Badda Boom (cherry stout) further broadened the range. RR's Blind Pig and Elysian's Avatar Jasmine IPA were notable guests. Of these, S & I both enjoyed the two seasonal stouts (tho' she much preferred the Badda Boom); we also liked the Divinity (and a fruity-chocolatey mix we created through lengthy experimentation with the BB Stout) and Oatmeal Pale.
Didn't eat a ton of food this time, just some so-so nacho chips/salsa and some rather excellent Willapa oyster shooters. I still have fond memories of the hearty sausage plates we had last time, so I'll base my food score equally on those recollections. Suffice to say, it's a 'pub grub' fare across the menu, with many sandwiches and a few heartier dishes (a friend later told us we MUST get the fish & chips next time...).
Service was good, initially a lit harried/aloof, but warmer once most of the lunch crowds departed... and quite generous with the tasting glass samples!
All in all a very solid choice and a must-visit when in Astoria.

After my 2nd stop by, I've decide to review this fine establishment.
Generally have 8-10 of their own beers on tap which rang from double IPAs to one off burbon bareel stouts. There flagship brews 1811 Lager and Vortex IPA are avaliable on draft or in a 16oz can. The always have 2-3 rotating guest taps as well. All of the house beers I tried were top notch.
On to food, I had the anaheim pepper burger, and I have to say this burger is in the top 10 of burgers of tried through out the NW.
Great place to go on a hot summer day and sit on the deck and watch the ships go by on the Columbia river.
Also if your lucky enough to hit them on Friday or Saturday afternoon they have a tap room across the parking lot from the public house in the brewery, lots of special brews poured there every weekend.

Stopped by this last 4th of July weekend.
A: It was mid day sunday, and this place was PACKED!! It was the 4th of july weekend, so it was to be expected. The place was filled with tourist and locals alike all havng a great time with friends and family enjoying the food and great beer. The place has a very "homey" feel to it, I could see myself in here during the nasty winter weather months.
Q: Everyone of their beers was very unique in their own special way. The spruce ale was very interesting. Their IIPA (16th Chapel?) is to DIE for as well as the Vortex IPA. Also their oatmeal pale ale is very good as well. Everything is worth trying.
S: The service was great (even when it was crazy busy) but I docked them for one reason: They need to know their beer. I asked for some general information on one of their beers and one of the guys behind the bar of all places try to spit some BS answer up. He clearly didn't know what he was talking about and it made him look stupid. Other then that, everything was great.
S: Amazing. They have a huge selection of their beers from their regular beers to their seasonals all lined up on a huge chalk board up above the bar. They even have some guest taps that are always worth checking out as well.
(*hint* get the taster tray, you wont be disappointed).
F: We didn't have much of their food (we were more interested in the beer), but from what we had it was excellent.
V: Typical bar brewery price, nothing really shocking here. Growlers where only $11 for a fill.
Fort George is an excellent place to check out if you are in the area. They have awesome beer and awesome ways for taking it to go. (They have bad ass swing top growlers as well as various sizes of mason jars).

A: It was cold, snowing outside but the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming. Everyone behind the bar wa svery cool, attentive and generous. Locals and a tourst or two including us to be found. Laid back vibe.
Q: Had three of the beers: Porter was average, IPA was good and IIPA was also good.
S: Service was good, they had plenty of nice and attentive staff there on a Sunday.
S: They had about 10 beers, most of them oin the lighter side. Biggest were the IIPA and a porter

Made a day trip to Astoria on a Portland Area brewtrek. Ft. George was my favorite stop.
First of all, you can't beat the view: the mouth of the Columbia River, the Pacific beyond and the River Gorge extending inland. You can hear sea lions barking down on the docks. Steven Spielberg picked this town for "Goonies" in his movie-making prime and you can see why.
The beers are all very good; the oatmeal pale ale and the special tap, OmegaTex, a Triple IPA, were fantastic. My travelling partner had Pliny the Elder for the first time in Portland and liked the OmegaTex more. I know that may upset some BA zealots but Ft. George's deserves the high praise when stood up against any other big IPA.
We ate some of their homemade Italian sausage and really loved it. All items on the menu were from local ingredients and organic, I believe.
If I hadn't had a flight leaving Portland the next morning I would have just stayed in Astoria that night. The beer, the food, the view and the people at Ft. George may convince me to take my next vacation there and skip Portland altogether.

Props to Fort George. I took a spontaneous trip to Astoria for the day and ended up having dinner here before heading home.
The beer is all pretty good. Their standard stout is well above average and they had a Bourbon Barrel Impy Stout on too that was good. Their Wit is a solid warm weather version of the style, spicy and wheaty and easy drinking. Basically all the beers our group sampled out of about 10 on tap were well received.
The food was a step above most brewpubs too. Housemade sausages, burgers sandwiches, kind of a standard menu but good quality.
I had a couple of Growlers in the trunk so we filled 'em and I'm drinking one now. I like Astoria and now that I know they have a nice brewpub too I'll probably head there again soon.
