On tap at the Horse Brass Pub

Beautiful caramel color (hard to tell as the Pub is so dark!) but very cloudy.

Aroma is good but not exceptional as compared to others in this category.

Iike the flavor: smooth and strong with not much bitterness for the IBUs. Very mellow but there are no definite citrus or pine standouts.

Mouthfeel is really exceptional, which along with the smooth flavors is what I really like. These together bely the ABV for the 2011 edition.

I've had several Oakshires this week while in Oregon and they are now one of my favorites (but try Boneyard if you can find one).

On tap at Horse Brass 6.10.2010, $3.25 a glass.

Clear light gold body, minimal thin layer white head, decent lacing. Nose is a big grapefruit hit, some caramel malts, very hop forward. Taste features chunky grapefruit, firm malt backbone in the middle, slightly noble pine bitter finish, but not overwhelming. Mouthfeel is very full, almost creamy, not too effervescent or sticky. Not a lot of alcohol heat, but it is noticeable, very tasty, could do several glasses of this. Great job Matt, Glen would be proud. Worth seeking out for all hopheads.

10oz at Horse Brass in Portland, OR.

appearance - amber, excellent retention, sticky lacing

smell - citrus, floral and dank, resinous hops

taste - a ballast of resinous and floral hops, strong citrus hops, slightly malt body

mouthfeel - medium bodied, excellent carbonation, consistent and balanced yet tingly

drinkability - very flavorful and robust for an DIPA, strong hop character, truly west coast IPA

On-Tap @ Bailey's Taproom poured into Shaker glass.

Pours a slightly hazy orange in color that has a slightly glowing aurora to it. The head is creamy and very slightly off-white and never fully dissolves leaving a nice layer atop the glass. Aroma is resinous pine and citrus hops that almost has a slight spiciness to it. The flavor is much of the same. Much more of the spicy hop bitterness and ends with a nice sweet finish. Its medium bodied and certainly chewy. This beer coats your mouth with hops. If your looking for a hop fix this is the beer you'd want. Tasty stuff even if it is a bit one dimensional.
