Was able to talk the wife into coming here while we were in Maui on our honeymoon. I love going to breweries and couldn't pass up the opportunity to go to one while in Hawaii. I got the sampler while there and I believe it included the Coconut Porter, Bikini Blonde Lager, Big Swell IPA, and one more. I then got a Amber Reign while eating. It was pretty good. The bar had a frost/ice strip that ran down it that you could rest your beer on to keep it cold. I thought that was really cool. The wild boar pizza that we got there was really good.

Although my wife and I are craft beer tourists on the mainland we had never been to MBC's brewpub on the west side until yesterday. The layout was good with a few long picnic tables and other tables laid out in a medium sized room. The bar was U shaped with plenty of seating around it and a neat frost strip that ran around the inside of the counter where you could set your glass to keep it cold. The bartender was really busy but was good at keeping an eye on you if you needed service. We started with samplers and tried most of the 18 MBC beers available on tap except for the ones available in cans. Of the two 2012 GABF Gold medal winners Amber Reign and Hawaii 9-0/Wee Heavy we definitely liked the amber, although we don't usually like ambers and they were out of the strong scotch ale. The standouts for us were the La Perouse White, Black Rock, Coconut Rum Toddy Porter, Pau Hana Pils and especially the La Petite Blanca that is a La Perouse aged 10 months in chardonnay barrels.
The food was ok but we just tried a basket of fries and a Ceasar. The atmosphere was pretty much sports bar with several TV's and a little bit too much volume on the game that was on. Looked like a pretty good mix of tourists and locals and a busy afternoon but not too busy to get a chair or a table. Definitely the best and only brewpub on Maui, A Hui Hou!
