Received as an extra from thedindaniel, thanks a ton Daniel!

12oz can poured into a snifter.

I had this beer on my Wants list for a while, but as it's only distributed to a few select states, I never had the chance to land any. However, I got it as an extra in a recent trade, so here goes!

A - Pours a thin, deceivingly watery stream that builds up into a black body with dark chocolate highlights. Builds a nice, 2-fingered tan colored head, but it disappears very quickly; over half of it was gone by the time I sat down. Lacing is almost non-existent.

S - The nose is full of rich malts, with a nice toasty grain background to it. Can get more chocolate in the nose than coconut, but it does flitter now and then. Espresso beans are mixed in smoothly as well to help keep it robust.

T - After tasting, the coconut really does make an appearance. However, rather than playing a prominent role, it lingers in the background and in the aftertaste. Upfront are nice, roasted malts and bitter chocolate. Underneath is a coconut / coffee / hops hybrid, and the finish is nice and bitter, laced with traces of coconut. I actually kind of expected the coconut to be more dominant, but it comes together in the finish.

M - Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with low carbonation. Lasting bitterness due to the hops, and strong coconut notes in the finish. A bit thin and watery, as the pour would have you believe.

D - Drinkability is high. Alcohol is well masked and as the beer goes on I start to notice the more subtle coconut notes throughout the beer rather than only in the finish.

Overall an enjoyable beer and one I think I'll keep on my Wants to get more of!

I suppose that if I was currently in Hawaii, this beer would be ok. Like, I just saw some dudes shred the gnar gnar, Hawaiian Tropic chicks on the ready, and spam to cure the hangover. But no, I’m not currently there. And although I am in amazing Southern California, this offering just doesn’t do it for me. Think: Coca Cola made a beer.

12oz can from Boise Co-op. Dark brown pour with traces of light coming through, thin beige head. Light roasty aroma with a hint of coconut. Taste is nutty, light roast, subtle coconut. Finishes with a dry bitterness.

12oz can into a pint glass. Canned 8/21/22, so another 8 month old beer from the variety pack

Decent look, low carbonation, faint cocoa notes in the aroma and taste. Only found the coconut in thg he last couple mouth fulls. Having said that, the base porter is quite tasty.

Pours dark brown with a healthy head of foam, three fingers deep. Aroma is roasted malt and coconut. Taste is very much roasted malt forward, with a slight finish and smoothness of coconut at the end. A hint of chocolate exists. This is a straight forward porter and satisfies as one.

March 2012: 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, huge greyish-brown head. Roasty dryish aroma, notes of wood, cocoa / chocolate, coffee and coconut, a hint of charcoal and smoke. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has distinct notes of coconut, also notes of chocolate / cocoa and coffee. Moderate hops. Not too sweet, and the toasted coconut makes this porter something out of the ordinary. Weird, maybe, but unusual.

Very nice porter. The coconut come through but isn’t too strong. Decent mouthfeel. Could have a little better head, but otherwise is a great beer.
