Can gifted by coworker dated 030111. Poured to pint.
A: Pours a quite dark brown with a pinky of fine-bubbled head. A tip of the glass reveals constant carbonation streaming up from the depths. No lacing to speak of.
S: Big semi-sweet toasted coconut and chocolate. Good balance.
T: Nice coconut here, too. Roasted malts with a hint of coffee. Mild, pleasant sweetness that plays nicely with the bitterness.
M: Medium-light. Too carbonated, though. A little sticky afterward.
A nice beer; pleasantly surprised considering the can date. I think one in a sitting is plenty. This filled in for dessert, and did so admirably.
I'd have one again.

Reviewed from memory - on tap at World of Beer in Arlington, VA
Pours asphalt black with limited, but iridescent lacing.
Tropical and floral aromatics.
Taste of sweet, tropical fruits. A porter/ dark beer that can be enjoyed during the hot days of summer. Coconut is present, but not overpowering.
The beer has a smooth, creamy opening and sweet, bitter finish.
Tired of having IPAs and belgium whites all summer? Try this refreshingly excellent coconut porter that is sessionable even during those hot muggy dog days of summer.

The name itself warrants curiosity, and being a fan of coconut and the occaisional porter, I figured why not?Poured ino a snifter, it borders on brown/black, completely opaque, and pours a half finger of a tan supple head, lacing is average for a porter.
Aroma is toasty, roasty and coffee-like, with deep roasted malts and the toasted coconut sweetness playing a subtle part in the nose, and this becomes more apparent upon warming.
Taste is smooth and very rich with a pleasant roasted quality, and just a hint of the toasted coconut flavor for a semi sweet finish to round things out nicely.
Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, rich and creamy texture, superb carbonation to move the flavors along.
As long as you aren't expecting to drink a Mounds Bar, and enjoy porters, Maui Brewing Coconut porter is a well crafted and delicious concoction that has the ability to satisfy on a number of levels, and is a really nice way to end the day.

Source/Serving: 12oz can
S: Burnt bread crust, wet moss, toasted almonds, grill residue. Hints of toasted coconut, spruce, decaying leaves.
T: Slightly sweet, faintly tart up front that hits with a smooth rich toasty, caramel roastiness. In the perfect roast range between toffee and coffee/chocolate, which gives the roastiness some depth and richness. Creamy, oily and smooth. Coconut hits in the middle, clean and toasty, along with light coffee and a nice nuttiness. Little to no harshness from the roastiness or bitterness, but its well balanced and only slightly sweet. Acidity is faint. Faintly mossy hops. Moderately high body. Finish really shows off the coconut and nuttiness, with a lingering toasted bread and smooth chocolate note.
Notes: A well-organized brew
