Thanks to Nanoslug for this. Mmm rug. I love rug. Rug bread...mmm...I’m a real rug muncher, that’s for sure. It’s one of the few Danish words I know.
Dark brown pour with a small yellowish tan head and good lacing.
Rich roasty aroma with spicy rye, anise, espresso, piney hops, and smoke.
Complex flavor as well. Huge roast and hops - piney mainly - on the flavor with some rye and anise. Some bitter espresso. Really tasty.
Medium-bodied with big hop resins and good dryness with soft carbonation.
Very impressive brew overall.

Pours a rich dark brown, not much of a head but some islands of coffee brown foam.
Smells of very rich, sweet malt, dark chocolate, booze, whiskey, some spicy rye...lots of booze and chocolate and whiskey.
Taste of rye spice, bitter chocolate, some roasty coffee maybe, whiskey character again. Very rich, not as sweet as the nose though.
Mouthfeel is very rich, syrupy, very sweet but also very bitter roasty, hard to drink fast but very nice.
A very rich and very nice imperial porter.

16.9 oz bottle poured mid-poker night, right after a lovely can of Furious. Given to me by my lovely wife for Christmas. You're a keeper!
Poured into my imperial pint glass, this is very dark brown with competent, middle-management carbonation. Nose strikes like a rattlesnake, lovely dark malts, hint of smoke from a distant fire, raw earth. Very nice.
Rugporter is one of the best mash-ups of rye & porter I've tasted. Surprisingly, the dominant flavor is burnt roast that tips over into smoky territory, but in a lovey, restrained manner. Tastes just like the wood-burning oven we used to cook on at the Renaissance Festival in the autumn (when I was young & foolish enough to do such things). Dark maltiness tugs at its forelock, sweet but melded tightly with the roast. Light spiciness & a fingernail full of earthiness rounds out the experience. I had to make this last an entire game of Texas Hold 'Em, otherwise it would have gone rapidly.
Pitch perfect marriage of rye & malt. I'd like to see this one in the fridge more often. This is a unique & excellent beer.

This beer was served from the tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY. It arrived in a snifter, showing a deep black coloring, with mahogany browns and maroons when held to bright light. It held a one and a half finger tall head of medium brown bubbles, showing nice retention. This left sheets of lacing, and eventually situated into a creamy film across the top, and a crown of bubbles around the edges. No haze or sediment was noted, and carbonation appeared to be light. The aroma sang of sweet rye off the bat, met by thickly roasted malts of coffee and dark chocolate, each of which showed a significant raw and chalky character. Additional notes of hazelnut, bittered cocoa, baked white sugar, phenolic clove and mild Band-Aids, black pepper booziness, and vanilla giving freshness, sweetness, and acidic creaminess were also apparent in the mix. Our first impression was that the flavoring showed nice malty sweetness to it, but the real star was the massively roasted coffee malts. As we sipped, coffee malts, wet yeast, and grassy hops were met by big rye bite, adding a certain sweetness savory freshness not typical for a hearty porter. The middle peaked with more bittered grassiness, heavy char, bittered chocolates, and medicinal phenols. Cutting through this bittered core were sweeter notes of cherry syrups, milk chocolate sugars, and creamy lactics. The end came through with a cleaner wash of chocolate malt, milk chocolate sweetness, a revival of that rye freshness, light grassiness, buttery diacetyls, and drying chalkiness. The aftertaste breathed of roasty and chalky coffee malts, light caramels, raw espresso beans, and toasted rye graininess. The body was full, and the carbonation was medium but foamy. Each sip was very smooth, with gloriously soft slurp, smack, cream, froth, and pop. The mouth was thoroughly coated, and a bit sticky, but with eventual astringency and chalk on the back. The abv was fine, and the beer drank pleasantly.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this beer was the greatly roasted full flavoring of the malts, and the equal punch of coffee and chocolate maltiness in the aroma. This beer is actually pretty exceptional in the fact that they start with a nice base beer and add to it. A lot of breweries tend to try something off kilter on top of trying to make a new style of beer for them, but fall short on both accounts. Here we have an excellent porter base, with rye inclusions that add something truly unique and new for a twist on an already classic beer. This beer is rich, sweet, and savory, and something you should definitely try if you can.

A 500ml bottle at cellar temperature is split between two pint glasses.
The beer has an opaque dark brown body with a huge head of chocolate brown foam. As the head settles lots of pretty lacing remains.
The beer has a very complex nose. There is a lot of toasted malt as well as chocolate malt. In addition, rye spiciness is strong and it mixes well with some peppery bitterness from the aroma hops.
The flavor closely mirrors the aroma. I can taste a lot of chocolate and some toast. Peppery flavors form the rye are strong as I swallow. The beer's taste doesn't betray its ABV; it feels more hearty than strong.
The beer has a medium body and lower carboantion. There is a decent amount of tingling from the rye (if I let the beer rest in my mouth). A thin coating on my lips and inner mouth has some of the chocolate flavors and is slightly sticky.
This is a very good porter. The addition of rye is a nice touch. The fact that it isn't trying to be a baltic porter means that it drinks easily and doesn't suffer from an overly sweet or sticky body. This beer is highly recommended.

I love the Rye in this, it really compliments the porter style!!
Pours dark brown with a slight cappuccino head.
Chocolate and sweet malt aroma with a little booze on the back end.
Dark chocolate taste that turns to spicy rye and a nice bitter finish.

Wow, what a glorious appearance with jet black body, dark tan creamy head that is very thick, and gobs of lace as the beer goes down in my dimpled mug. Nose has a thick nougatey-roasty aroma to it, like a liquified Three Muskateers bar. Palate offers a nice dark chocolately sweetness up front with good body, earthy/hearty rye grain influence, followed by roasty flavors and bitterness from the hops to round it out somewhat nicely. Finishes with licorice and dark butterscotch. Pleasure to drink.

Pours black with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows chocolate, cocoa, liquorice, roasted malt and soft coffee. Sweet smelling.
Big roaster flavours, some coffee but no where near as interesting as the aroma. Too much booze. Finishes with a big roasty finish.
Could use more carbonation, very syrupy.

Served on tap at Mugs Alehouse in Brooklyn, NY
A: Pours a very dark brown in color with some red highlights. There is a very thin beige head that reduces to a ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate lacing is observed.
S: Dark roasted malts with some hint of juniper, coffee, and dark chocolate. There are some more subtle hints of anise and possibly rye (spiciness).
T: Very complex, lots of flavor of dark roasted malts with hints of espresso/coffee, dark chocolate, and a pine hop bite. I also get more subtle flavors of char and earthiness.
M: Medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Some dryness in the finish.
O: Very interesting flavor profile - the hints of the more savory herbs/spices in the smell and flavor were a pleasant surprise. Definitely a sipping beer and an enjoyable one at that.

A: The beer is essentially jet black in color; hints of amber are visible near the edges of the glass when it is held up to the light. It poured with a thin ring of off white bubbles around the edge of the glass and a bit of lacing in the center.
S: There are aromas of burnt and roasted malts in the nose along with notes of spices.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of dark roasted malts along with some spiciness from the rye. There are notes of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a light to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very flavorful and has just enough of an interesting taste that it can be sipped. It is very easy to drink considering the strength of the beer.

Bottle from Premier Gourmet, 500ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a light brown head. Head is big, thick and creamy with moderate retention and some spotty lace. Nose has some deep dark fruity notes, milk chocolate, roasted notes and a bit of rye. Flavour is heavy on roasted coffee and espresso notes, rye, and dark chocolate. Some mild creamy qualities, but I can't figure out if this is in the flavour or a product of the mouthfeel. Super creamy feel, not too heavy but has a good thickness to it - long roasty finish. A solid beer with a superb mouthfeel, but just a touch too roasty for my liking.

Cheers to @laituegonflable for the bottle.
Pours a pretty pleasantly dark and rich borwn colour, leavened at the edges, but otherwise pretty heavy and opaque. Head is foamy and crispy, but formed of very large bubbles, giving a honeycomb effect the the top of the beer. Decent sheeting lace, and there's obviously some heft to the body. Not a bad look, all up.
Nose is roast and dark, with a very decent smoke character and a touch of something quintessentially Scandinavian. It's the darkness, the bleakness or the rusticity. It's thin and crisp, but also dark and redolent. Very nice.
Taste is dark and chalky, with a big bitterness that comes across like a fine powder of espresso. I like the roastiness that comes across in a really big porter, combined with the lightness of body, which lulls you into the sense that you could drink quite a lot of it. It's really dark and very roasted, but the lightness in the body pleasantly brings it back.
Very decent brew. All the elements come together very pleasantly, to give a really robusty flavoured but surprisingly drinkable 8.5% ABV brew. The rye probably adds its own subtle complexities, but by the end you don't care—it's a well-integrated and very tasty porter on its own.

Bottle purchased from Hop City in Atlanta, labeled as Rye Porter.
Pours black with a light tan head that leaves decent lacing.
Smells of robust roasted malts with hints of semi-sweet chocolate and lighter hints of spicy rye. Also present are mild amounts of char in the background.
Tastes heavier than it smells. Heavily roasted malts up front are joined by slight unsweetened chocolate flavors shortly thereafter. Midway through the flavor profile dries out substantially with the addition of large amounts of char and slight amounts of earthy rye that carry through to a solidly bitter ending. Mouthfeel is good, with smooth carbonation.
Overall I think it was the heavy roasted malts that contributed to the harsh flavor profile more than the rye, I’d like to see more nuance. A rare letdown from Amager.

Pours well formed, persistent thick tan head with good stickage, atop of nearly opaque dark reddish coppery to dark brown body. The intense nose spreads enthusiasm with multi-layered complexity of rich malty sweetness enhanced by brown sugar, deep chocolate, esters of plum, raisins and currant, well-baked rye bread and red wine, almost port-like qualities. A careful sniffing reveals mild spicy, piney hops. Thick viscous body with soft carbonation and velvet smoothness starts sweet on the palate, but the initial sweetness soon vanishes being replaced by pronounced roasted flavor of dark malts that combine with hops to provide bitterness that paves the way into relatively dry finish with roast coffee notes and pleasant alcohol warmth that helps to balance the malts. There’s a certain spicy edge to the beer that I couldn’t tell whether provided by hops or rye. (500 ml, BB date August 2013, into tulip).
In short: an intense rye-based Imperial Porter at its best that could be easily mistaken for Imperial Stout.
