500ml(ish) can from a 7-11 in Bangkok. Fill: 20/04/16.

5.0% ABV.

Insipid. The kind of fizzy yellow garbage that typifies macrolager. Pilsner malts and little else.

Overcarbonated to such extent it inhibits drinkability. Smooth, wet, and somewhere between light and medium-bodied.

Relatively highly priced even by international budget beer standards for its low quality.

D+ (2.34) / NOT RECOMMENDED

06/01/2016 brief 2nd impression. Can from a 7-11 in Chiang Rai.

Aroma is grainy, with some pils malt sweetness. No detectable hop profile - not even grassy Noble hop character. Doesn't seem metallic or boozy, which is a plus. Aromatic intensity is average.

Taste is overly sweet, and corn/maize adjunct is indicated. A blip of floral hop character. Pilsner/pale malt through and through. Barley presence is clean, and I find no metallic off-flavours. Largely bereft of any substantial genuine flavour. Chemical artificiality is dominant.

It's not boozy or watery in terms of mouthfeel, but it is pleasantly light to medium-bodied (albeit crisply overcarbonated).

I'd prefer a more neutral grainy brew, but the malty sweetness actually inhibits any semblance of balance. I'd like to see this venture into lemony territory like some other Asian budget lagers; actually, just more flavour in general would be a good start.

Of course, it's drinkable if only because it's so shallow and simple. It's likely exactly what its target demographic is after, but it won't cater to the tastes of more discerning drinkers. "Inoffensive" is the diplomatic word for this brew. At least it's cheaper than Chang...

This beer surprised me, actually. I got it in Koh Samui primarily because I'd never had it before. I tried it, initially thinking it would probably be bad, but it ended up being a decent lager. It's not overly impressive, but certainly not horrible. It has decent carbonation mixed with a lighter lager flavor and a decent aftertaste. I don't know that I'd personally get it again, but for the price it's certainly with a try - especially if you enjoy lighter lagers.

330ml Can in Melaka, Malaysia (RM6.00):
Pale straw with a bubbly, thin white head that turns to a patch lacing after a few seconds. The beer is very clear and light in colour.

Light & quite sweet with some adjuncts and a basic lager taste that has some barely & a hint of bread in there too.

Sweet & watery with a syrup like taste and some sugar too. There were a few grassy hops but overall the taste was very weak & bland.

Watery & bland as I've said already, this one was very light on bitter touches and had a faint citrus tang but nothing other than that.

A cheap but standard tasting Asian beer although it is one of the poorer Thai offerings I have had. A very average to poor macro lager with little in the way of taste or smell but at least it was drinkable and didn't taste disgusting.

Can from 7-11 in Krabi. From notes.

A - Poured piss golden. Good carbonation, one finger of white head gone fast. Minimal lace and no retention.

S - Corny, grainy.

T - Corny, sweet grain, grainy, sweet honey, some lemon.

M - Good carbonation, medium body, sweet grainy finish.

O/D - An alright Asian lager. Pretty typical of the style without being putrid. Nothing too special.

A: Light, clear golden colour with plenty of carbonation. Huge white head with a yellow tinge that dissipates to nothing after an aggressive pour.

S: Like a typical adjunct lager it smells of malt, some yeast, but this also has a slight battery acid scent.

T: Tastes of malt, banana, yeasty background, hops bitterness comes in near the end and in the aftertaste. Some grapefruit, battery acid comes through too.

M: Watery body, medium carbonation.

O: Overall, great with Pizza Company’s Italian Sausage pizza and wings. Its much like any adjunct lager, but the distinguishing feature in this one is the banana taste which comes in and out at times. Interesting that this was crafted for Thai drinkers in Europe. Its fine, but not outstanding to my western palate.

sampling all brews I can get hold of while on my hols in Thailand ...

this brew has a very malty nose with some macadamia nuts fragrance in it ...

the taste is a bit watery and malty with some unripe banana flavors in it, not very smooth but better than the average brew from Thailand

A: Light-medium yellow golden color. Very little lace.
S: Barley, metallic, alcohol, straw, slight citrus.
T: Alcohol, slight metallic aftertaste.
M: Medium to high carbonation. Light body.
O: Overall, it's not as bad as Cheers Xtra. It's relatively comparable to the other widely available beers in Thailand, although this is one of the cheaper ones.

The colour is yellow; the airy three finger head is white. It sinks slowly leaving no lacing.

The smell is a bit sweet with some hints of vegetables, bread, sulphur and a clean neutral bitterness.

The taste is quite light. More (aroma) hops than expected gives some more body to the beer. Creamy notes of sweet almonds, French loaf and a touch of minerals. The aftertaste got some alcohol, mild clan bitterness and a somewhat sour hint.

The carbonation is average with lots of small to medium bubbles; the liquid is light.

Better than expected. Not that it is a strong and full flavoured beer, but at least it isn't wishy-washy.
