16 ounce pint - $6.75 at Taco Mac in Woodstock, Georgia.

Appearance: Amber-brown body with admirable clarity and a one-third inch, ivory-hued head.

Smell: Little to note or notice, with just a bit of toast dust and tired, old herbs.

Taste: A very subtly flavored beer, to say the least, hinting at light toast and nominal darkened grains all awash with distilled water. The world's smallest hint of cocoa. Herbal, earthy hops, very mild, mind you, and with only a thin sliver of nearly imperceptible bitterness. Finishes dry, near-empty finish with a last trace of herbs.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Lightly carbonated.

Drinkability: A real snoozer, but it's pretty on-par with the rest of their line-up. Not only does Dirty Tackle not "tackle your taste buds", it barely even tickles them.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2017. Acquired a little while back from Home Bargains. An ale with a rugby theme.

A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A rich coppery-amber colour with good clarity and plentiful carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of fruity ale yeast with hints of stewed hops, caramel malt, husky grain and faint cardboard. Pretty average.

T: Tastes of fruity ale yeast with notes of esters, caramel malt, grain husks, stewed hops and leafiness. A subtle underlying sweetness, followed by a moderate bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and average body. Slightly on the thin side. Aftertaste of ale yeast, bitter leafy hops and caramel malt.

O: Meh - decidedly average ale from a brewery with form in the average ale department. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are a fairly dull blend of ale yeast, caramel malt and twiggy hops. Body is OK. This one can be filed under 'boring brown beer'. No need to seek it out.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a mostly cloudy consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Sparse lacing.

S: A pretty good aroma of malt, a little citrus, hops, and a sugary quality.

T: Tasted of a good shot of malt, a light hops presence (especially in the finish), a bit of chocolate, some caramel, citrus (orange), and an earthiness. Not a bad flavor, but a little unfocused. Could have used a little more of the chocolate and citrus to make it more interesting.

S: A below average amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: There's nothing overly special about this beer, but if you like English Bitters then give it a shot.

On cask, poured into a nonic. The aroma is initially tropical but turns floral and citrus like with some cotton candy notes late. The beer is oily looking with a deep, brilliant caramel shade and a dense, whipped, off-white head that has moderate retention and lace. The taste is a medium bitter and medium sweet combination. The beer is oily and slick in texture with a flat-ish fuzz for carbonation. The medium body has a bright, waxy orange and citrus membrane quality with other floral notes. The finish is syrupy with a zesty and floral herb zip that turns somewhat burnt and leaves an aftertaste that's mostly floral with light orange, and light burnt sugar notes that are dry and slightly sticky.

25th Feb 2012: Hand pulled pint in The Raven, a sports pub in Wellington: Shropshire.

Light golden/amber body with a full but thin white crown of bubbles.

Mixed bag in the aroma: malty molasses blend in with a floral/citrus hop smell, the malts being slightly stronger.

The taste is also a blend of the aforementioned flavours: a malty sweetness mixed in with a hop semi-bitterness with an almost sour/dry finish.

Body depth was good; this is a nicely put together brew

Served from a cask into a pint glass in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

A: Gold transparent colour, thick head of fair retention.

Sm: Fresh barley; hops. Usual suspects.

T: Hoppy. A bit bland, truth be told. Watery. Bitter on the finish.

Mf: Smack-thine-lips fantastic. Best part of the beer. Chewy.

Dr: Low ABV; cheap enough. Too bland to have again.

Served at cellaring temperature in a goblet. Poured a glowing amber with a generous 2 fingers of rocky tan head. Lacing is great, retention is good.

Smells strongly of sweet malt and spices.

Taste starts with sweet buttery malts, and finishes with a complexity of spice and sharp bitter hops. Taste is very balanced.

Mouthfeel is sticky, medium bodied. Carbonation is a bit weak.

Drinkability is good. This is a great cask bitter.
