look: 3.5 | smell: 2 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 2.75
Appearance: Bright golden body with a nice and solid head. Settled down slowly, and left a thin but attractive lacing down the glass.
Aroma: A waft of malt sweetness, and hints of generic hops. A little bit of 'tonic water smell' as well.
Taste: Slightly more malty and smooth than most macro lagers, although still left wanting. Some slight grain character, with low bitterness, and noticeable hops.
Mouthfeel: High carbonation, and with a bit fuller body than expected from a light beer.
Drinkability: Definitely one of the better macro light beers, and was much more complex than I was expecting. Let down by typical macro faults, however.

A: Served a nice golden color with a small head that fades to nice lacing.
S: Aroma is very mild with bit of malt sweetness and just a hint of hops.
T: Taste is pretty mild, just a bit of malt sweetness and just a trace of grain. There is a light bitterness and a clean finish.
F: Light body, crisp and quite smooth.
O: Not a lot here, decent beer for the style, if light lager is your thing.

375ml bottle poured into a pils glass.
A:
Dark gold in color with small white head not so much retention and left with decent lacing stickiness, high carbonation.
S:
The smell is barley malt and floral hop with slight husky note.
T:
Husk and moderate hop bitterness, slight graininess, subtly roasted trait.
M:
The body is thin with sharp carbonated and pricky mouth feel, very clean finish.
O:
Appropriate to be palate cleanser beer between drinking program owing to its light and clean characters.

Pours a one finger head cream head, straw coloured. Lots of bubbles. Leaves an amazing thin fine veil of lace. (+1 for that)
No real aromas, save standard PoR indications - served at pub temperature.
Taste is a surprise. A good initial hit of hops on the front palate, and no hint of low ABV in that taste almost-explosion. Almost a light pilsner rather than light lager. However, sadly the back palate bitterness turns somewhat metallic, and that metallic taste continues to dominate.
The bitterness is substantial enough at the end to need a glass of water.
So - a surprise package to me, a light that almost tastes full strength, albeit with some compromises.
Designated Driver? Summer? Not too bad! Otherwise, erm, not so appealing

Pours a gold colour with light bubbling, minimal head with the appearance of spit, nice thick lacing but otherwise flat and dull.
Light malt notes on the nose with some dull woodiness. Soil character, but I guess it's just a light Pride of Ringworm aroma. Lightly bitter is all I can say. Not inoffensive though.
Taste is a bit malty at first, descends into a bready mid-palate with hints of actual grain on there, a slight bit of POR gritty bitterness at the back, but not enough to render it undrinkable. Not too bad for a light lager though, have to give it its due, even though it's dull and mostly flavourless.
Feel is a bit thin, but has a little bit of body as it goes down. Not bad for a light lager.
A beer that's flavourless enough to be inoffensive. Perfect complement to most raw tofu dishes and water soup.

(Served in a short pilsner glass)
Best before 04 Nov 09
A- This beer pours a crystal clear yellowish-orange hint to the body with a soapy snow white head that sticks to the glass with each sip. There are tiny bubble strands trailing up from the base of the glass.
S- This almost skunky green hops turned more brightly pungent as the beer warmed and dominated any other aromas but still weren't that strong.
T- The dry green lifesaver candy quality to the hops was a bit odd but interesting. There was a dried mushroom and dried lemon quality with some club soda flavors and a soft bitter bite in the finish. After each sip there was a raw grain field corn aftertaste.
M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a slight slippery texture and a tight cleaning fizz in the finish.
D- This is a dry light flavored beer that is not offensive but the finish becomes a bit offensive as the beer warms even a slight bit.

Straw, with small head that reminds me of the scum on top of a swamp. How can a head look this bad??
Aroma is skunk, sewer, stagnant water. Wow. Thats bad.
Some faint sweet malt upon tasting, cooked vegies, and one dimensional short-lived bitterness.
Very high carbonation.

This pours an amber colour with a fluffy white head which is quickly gone. Lots of visible carbonation.
There is a hint of sweetness on the nose but not a lot else.
The sweetness is not as evident on the palate. A bit of hops.
The mouthfeel has a crisp finish to it.
Only if you are driving.

Appearance - 3.5
Poured two fingers of frothy off-white head that reduced slowly over a body of pale copper/gold that looks to be moderately carbonated.
Smell - 2.0
Smelled very skunked upon opening, but this all-but disappeared within seconds. Only smell remaining is a stale bad beer smell, which actually decreases with a little warming, leaving a faint honey like sweetness.
Taste - 3.0
Quite similar to Hahn Premium Light, but better due to a greater hop profile. Very little sweetness but some malt flavour, grains, wholegrain crackers, and moderate hop bitterness. Finishes quite dry and slightly metallic. Not great, but better than most light beers.
Mouthfeel - 3.0
Carbonation is moderate, weight in the mouth is light. Gets somewhat watery as the carbonation decreases
Drinkability - 3.0
I swear if you didn't tell most lager swillers that this is a light beer, they would drink it all night, as it really isn't too bad. For those who know how good beer can be, this is rather bland and boring, and I for one wouldn't be reaching for a second.
OVERALL - 2.9
I'd tried this at least once before and thought it was pretty decent for a light beer. After seeing it rated as one of Australia's 20 best beer, I figured they decided they had to put one light beer in there, but decided to try another anyway. It isn't a good beer, but for the style it is probably the best I've tried. It's cheap, but I'd always go for one good beer than two of these.

Pale straw colour with quite lively carbonation. Couple of centimetres of head falls away to almost nothing from a somewhat hard pour.
Some faint malty & herbal notes but nothing special.
Taste is along the same lines as the smell.
Quite a light, waterery mouthfeel but I guess thats a trait of the style.
Alright drinkability if you need to drink light.

Ok, this not a great beer but when I compare it to light beers from NA this is not bad. A decent hop level propels the finish to be clean and crisp. I could drink quite a few of these and not get that nasty mouthfeel that corn brings. worth a try if light is your thing.

Pale amber, some bead. Good solid white froth head. subsides to a thin head layer, some lace. A nice appearance.
Pale malty nose, with some almost tea-like notes. Otherwise not much hop aroma.
A better body than it's direct competitor (Boag's)... some hint of crystal/cara to give it a bit of body and character. Falls away a bit, but the malt is there.
As far as light beers go, this is fair to middling. I would like some more body, but then again I would like some more alcohol, so I would look elsewhere. However, if you're the designated driver, have a few of these, and you won't feel too left out.

A; Mid gold witha tinge of red The head persists well
S: pleasnat hint of hop
T: sharp ,initially and asa finish with not a lot in between , which perhaps characterises Light beers.
M: refreshing and nicely carbonated
D: Lack of middle palate means that I couldnt drink a lot of this but its good for a couple if you are drib\ving.

there was a time all i drank were lagers (well, mostly). this is a typical example of, probably, why i stick with ales a bit more now.
pretty well an average beer, not a lot in the way of flavor or aroma. and as for mouthfeel, i guess its what you would expect from a light beer.

Probably the most drinkable of the Aussie lights, slightly more flavour than most. I don't see the point of the beer though (except if your driving home).
