12oz can into a Duvel tulip. Thanks to mnbearsfan for this one.
A: Black body with two fingers of creamy tan head. Good retention and lacing. Beautiful.
S: Smooth, balanced mix of milk chocolate, sweetened coffee, and earthiness. Pleasant.
T: Spicy, husky malt up front, followed by coffee and a distinct cola flavor. Creamy, bittersweet finish. Pretty good, but not quite as nice as the aroma promised.
M: Medium-bodied with moderate, late-developing carbonation. All right.
O: Good, not quite great. Always fun trying a new craft beer in a can.
Cheers!

Thanks to Jodan for this one
All 50 states now ticked!
App- When this poured out it was a good mix of browns and blacks. It was dense in the center and a little lighter on the outsides but not reaching the red level of some others. The head was a nice mocha colored pulled apart bubbly note. The cling was nice but not overbearing or crazy. Nice looking canned porter.
Smell- This was a bit light on the nose. It had some good porter malty roasty notes and then transitioned to a bit of a smoother chocolate powder note like that at Starbucks and just tinges of a little bit of hop bitter.
Taste- I enjoyed this porter. In fact I drank both of my cans last night. It was a good amount of roasted malts with a bit of earth behind it and transfered over to a good chocolate cocoa flavor and just tinges of a little hoppy bitter. More of an Americanized and re-done recipe vs. the malt & hop heavy imports I have had.
Mouth- Its a pretty light body. Wouldve expected a bit thicker feel based on the pour. The carbonation was pretty solid medium with a fairly good creamy bubbly feel. The residual flavors are of the small bitter and some chocoalte malts.
Drink- Its a good beer. It was a bit hard to get ahold of but glad I did get to tick all 50 states. Was super rad of Jodan to hook me up. I think this could compete with other well regarded porters out there (Founders comes to mind)

On draft in a 12 ounce pint glass.
Appearance: Mahogany dark with a rapidly vanishing head.
Smell: Roast, licorice, molasses.
Taste: Roasted malt with a sweet, charcoal finish. No bitterness to speak of. Pretty simple and straightforward.
Mouthfeel: Sweet and watery. Clears the palette very quickly.
Overall: Overall not a bad porter. Not very many layers to dissect, but that’s not always a deficit. Could be a decent “everyday” beer in the cold season.

this is a solid brown/black pour with 2 fingers of tan head. great lacing.. something you dont expect from a beer can.
smells of chocolate, tobacco, milk, coffee, honey.
a sweet milk stout taste with an earthy dirt-like bitterness of trees, dirt, and tobacco. a very tasty treat! medium body, with cream on my moustache! nice carbonation too!
awesome looking can art, great looking pour, great tasting, smells like a stout.. just a great fucking beer. drink this.

Purchased last weekend in Sioux Falls, no date on can.
A: Poured from can into Rogue pint glass. Nice deep dark chocolate color, about 1 finger of fine carbonation that ends up leaving a slender coating.
S: Smells tasty, with sweet milk chocolate and cocoa powder, roasted malts and some cold pressed coffee.
T: Things go south here. Starts with bitter dark chocolate and roasted malt, but that gives way to charred, burnt malt and "dirt" flavors are quite present at the tail end, which I suspect is the hop addition that isn't quite right. It seems like there is some lactic tartness as well.
M: Finally, a small brewery porter that actually has some smooth silkiness to it. Mind you, it is not quite up to par with the big hitters, but solid nonetheless. Carbonation is subdued, which I think helps with this. Nice hop bitterness rounds things out at the end.
O: Solid porter if not for the funky hops thing going on. Still quite drinkable though, I certainly wouldn't mind another.

Appearance: Poured from the 12 oz can into a pint glass. The beer is a nice dark liquid which I can't see through, even when held to the light. The beer pours thick and oily looking. The pour produces a 1/2 inch brown head which fades a bit quick to a partial cover and ring around the glass. It is redeemed by leaving sticky lacing down the glass.
Smell: Big roasted malt giving off aromas of roasted coffee, roasted nuts and barley. A hint of chocolate, not really any hop related aromas, not really expecting any either.
Taste: Fully in line with the smell of the beer. Big roasted malt flavors which match the aroma, not sweet(er) caramel malt. Some roasted coffee nut and roasted barley mixed in. There is a bit of a surprising touch of hop bitterness as the beer goes down.
Mouthfeel: Medium to near full in body, smooth on the tongue, a touch oily going down. It does seem to finish a bit "dry" as well.
Overall: After a long day of drilling, Pile O'Dirt Porter is a perfect beer. Sells regular price for $10 a six, which is a bit steep for me. I paid $8.50 for a six of cans, which is just fine and well worth it. I'd buy it again for that price. Good craft beer in a can is a good thing IMO.

Pours a deep dark brown to black in color with a light brown head of medium size that floats above this beer.
A light roasted malt aroma with hints of coffee.
A rich dark malt taste with hints of different coffee types and just the slightest hint of a dark chocolate coming through.
The aftertaste is a dry roast making me want to have another drink and some grilled fresh Mahi Mahi for some reason.

From notes on 12/24/2011
4/5 POurs our black as night with a finger, brown head with little retention.
3.5/4 Smell is dark fruits upfront followed closely behind by roasted malts. Seems to be mild hop presence in the background that is hard to describe.
3.5/4 Taste is quite nice with coffe upfront, roasted grains, and some dark fruits. Quite nice really. Better than I was expecting. The coffee really makes this a nice porter.
3.5/5 Mouthfeel is fairly thin but to be expected for a beer with the low ABV. Overall a nice beer.

Can courtesy of rudge75. Thanks! Poured into a Duvel tulip ~4C
Pours thick and dark with a small dark tan head that drops off quickly. Enjoyable nose with lots of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Hints of fruity hops come overtop it all . The body is a little thinner though with most of the same flavours as were on the nose coming through, though with less force. Licorice and molasses come through too. Very light carbonation and a thin mouthfeel... Pretty good, though not great.
