The essence of NZ craft beer is here. We travelled. We filmed. We took the passion and musings of Kiwi craft brewers. We put them in this bottle. Enjoy.

Special thanks to: NZ Hops, Cryer Malt, Gladfield Malt.

Something I hadn't seen on shelves before, and sadly didn't see that it had a BB 02.12.12 date in black on the neck until after opening it.

Pours a bright glowing orange, with a healthy dose of foam that settles slowly and leaves lots of lace behind in broken circular rings.

Smells a little faded but still kicking out a little NZ funk, green herbals and mellow grapefruit citrus rind, some light pale malt behind that in the background.

Bitter herbal eucalyptus and grapefruit notes, generic light caramel sweetness in the middle, finishes dry. Light to medium bodied.
An overpriced imported pale ale that was likely better a few months ago...

A: Pours an exceptionally clear yellow gold colour with 1-2 fingers of white head. Traces of fine, delicate lacing covering the sides of the glass.

S: Noticeable fruit presence of pear, apple, grapefruit, lychee and pineapple with notes of sweet honey malts, yeasty bread and citrus peel. Scents are fresh and juicy.

T: Surprising amount of fresh pine on the tongue which was not present on the nose together with tropical fruits and hints of yeasty bread. Hops are much more pronounced in the taste than the scent. Alcohol esters are apparent mid palate.

M: Medium bodied which pleasantly coats the mouth.

O: Tropical juicy fruits dominate the nose while piney hops contrasted and dominate the mouth which results in an interesting mix.

Light coloured body with small lasting head. Mildly funky lagerish taste, with some heads. More of a blonde, bit of a dirty blonde. Smooth mouthfeel. Decent drinkability, as long as you do not wexpect it to have that tasty New Zealand hops. Basic expectations were met.

500 mL btl served chilled, a little too cold actually, maybe 5C.

Crystal clear golden pour with hints of amber depending on the light. Thin head that dissipates into an ever so slight ring and some wisps of foam that is maintained by generous but not over abundant continuous carbonation. No lacing what so ever.

Smells of sweet tropical fruits and gentile citrus peel, lemon and ruby grapefruit. Some meaty-leafy hops.

Very mild. Light pale malts with a kick of acidic tropical fruits and again, light on the citrus that is nicely balanced. Some caramel and mild bitter hopping rounded out by a undercurrent of herbal alcoholic that rises to the finish.

Medium-light body with average carbonation that gives some levity and helps the semi-dry, semi-bitter, and semi-sweet (no residual sugar notes) finish.

It is somehow less than its parts. While it is balanced in the best way, it lack umph and body. It lack a bold distinctiveness that I was expecting. very good but very basic. Not sessionable but not good enough for a one off during any point in the night. Frankly I'm struggling to give it a 3.75 overall despite the individuals.

Makes me sad.

A - Pours a fairly clear golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, pineapple, tropical, floral, and spicy hops with lemon zest, and sweet caramel and biscuit malts.

T - Starts off with a mix of pineapple, lemon, and other tropical hops with some mild bitterness and some sweet caramel malts. Through the middle, some floral and spicy hops come through with a bit of biscuit malts. The finish is a mix of grapefruit, pineapple, and spicy hops with some sweet bready malts.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and bitter finish.

D - Very drinkable. Nice hoppy APA with a good hop profile, bitterness and overall balance.

500 ml bottle. Pours clear gold with a big creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet caramel malts, tropical fruits and some stinky hops.

The flavor is sweet caramel malts and tropical fruits with a decent grassy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent pale ale. Kind of unique flavors.

(Served in a nonic)

A- This beer pours a slightly hazy golden orange body with a thick snow white head that last a long bit and sticks to the side of the glass. There is a gentle carbonation of tiny bubbles.

S- The juicy tropical fruit hops aroma has a papery green hop quality to it with some dried citrus hop notes in the finish.

T- The slightly dry tropical fruit hops are nicely supported by some pale malt flavors and the soft dry finish has some grapefruit pith hops that linger without much real bitterness.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a crisp little fizz that grows as the beer opens.

O- The nice hop flavor and depth help up pretty well to the boat ride. As the beer opens up the hops flavor fades a bit but the fizz and grapefruit pith notes grow stronger.

Starts with a moderate head that settles to a single layer of bubbles. It does leave some webby lace, though. The broth is gold and nearly clear.

Oddly, I initially smell cold slaw--a slightly sour and creamy aroma. Grapefruit hop is the predominant nose.

Very bitter from an overabundance of hop. This is particularly strong in the swallow and the aftertaste which reminds me of sucking on a hop pellet. Not well balanced--nearly no malt presence. Light bodied with a high carbonation, it seems thinner that it might be.

A - Pours a somewhat clear golden color. Fluffy white head, good lacing.

S - Hoppy, citrus and pineapple.

T - Somewhat sweet malt beginning with a bitter ending. No real flavors shining through.

M - Great carbonation along with a medium body.

O - Probably held onto this beer too long. Seems past its prime. All my fault and not the beers fault.

Ok beer. Poured at a good temprature with a smallish, off-white foamy head that settles to some swirls, a ring, and plenty of lace. Color is a clear, pale yellow with lots of bubble trails. Aroma is hop, malt, bit of skunk that might've come from the store under flor. lites. Flavor's like nose, dry, lots of carbonic tang and hop bitter, bit of lemon. Body's a bit thin and has good carbonation. Finish is like flavor, of average length, no sign of alcohol.
