Notes:
Moa Methode is bottle fermented and conditioned to give a natural, more consistent carbonation and flavour. Due to the natural brewing process of Methode Moa, a light, beneficial sediment will remain. This sediment protects the beer from premature aging and leaves full, slightly spicy characters on the palate.

Aroma: clean bitterness.
Appearance: beautiful cloudy gold colour with streaming bubbles like champagne.
Taste: crisp, dry bitterness with a delicate lingering bitterness and subtle malt character.
A wonderfully different beer that drinks much more like a champagne! Serve in champagne flute for the full effect.

Pale, straw-yellow body topped with a creamy, thick, white head. Strong resinous pine aroma; fruity and aromatic with a light bread-like note. Lightly spiced malt flavors overall. Smooth and soft mouthfeel; clean and crisp finish.
An interesting light and bright pilsner with an overall great malt and hop balance. A mellow spiciness adds some distinctive flavor characteristics. An interesting take on a traditional style and, apparently, bottle fermented and conditioned. I'll be making repeat visits to this brew...

From a 350 ml bottle into a pint glass at Satchel's on 6th Ave.
A-The brew is quite carbonated and a normal pour produces a healthy, three-finger head of pillowy, slow-to-fade, white foam. The beer is light and bright in color with vigorous carbonation. It is slightly cloudy.
S-The smell is dry with biscuity, chalky malts, and a light hop spice of pepper. Nice balance and slightly unique, but definitely a pils. There is a touch of lemon.
T-The taste was mild, mostly clean, and dry on the finish. There is more yeast flavor here than in other pils I have had, which sort of cuts the crispness. Things are pretty well balanced, but I could have used a little more biscuity malts and spice like I smelled.
M-The carbonation is decent-strength and more fine in character than other beers of this style. It is easy to drink and light. Slightly different than other pils, but pleasing.
O-This is not my favorite pils, but it is not a bad one, either. It is pretty attractive and provides a slight twist on the style that manages to keep some traditional flavors while adding a little something. This would be a great brew for an afternoon session on hot summer day, but is perhaps a little on the pricey side for repeated drinking.

On tap in a proper flute glass.
A- Very bright and bubbly golden color with a touch of orange hue, a bit of sediment, too. Slight white head tapers to a thin film leaving very little lacing.
S- A pleasant nose for a pils, grassy and grainy with a bit of hop fruitiness and malts, all without the pils bitter skunkiness.
T- Some malt body with herbal and spice flavors.
M- Big body for a pils with lively carbonation and tingle, some bite, too. I can't imagine a beer any more fresh and clean.
O- A nice take on German pils, crisp and clean.

330ml green bottle purchased for me by @LaitueGonflable from Slowbeer in Melbourne.
Pours a deep but light golden colour, with solid haze, and a very frothy and full head of white that settles pretty quickly. Carbonation is very fine and sits solidly in the body when tilted. No lace. Overall, it looks pretty refined, no matter what else happens.
Nose is very pleasant. Fresh, clean hop fragrance, mingled with some odd fluffy sweetness: hints of rosewater and candy floss. There's a roundness to the aroma too: almost a Belgian yeast character, but not quite. It doesn't have the esters and spice, but it adds a depth. It's very pleasant indeed.
Taste is very good as well. Very clean, bright flavours, with tingles of zesty sweetness. Finish dives into a herbal greenness with a clean organic flavour. It's dried out by the end, with a pleasant tingle from the hops, but very refreshing.
Feel is solid: smooth, but with a pleasant fine effervescence to enliven the palate.
This is really good stuff. Superbly drinkable, with such refined flavours. This is just the sort of supreme balance craft lagers can deliver. Exceptional stuff.

Poured from 375mL bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: light gold hue with a touch of haze and a huge effervescence. Head is three fingers of frothy, pillowy white foam which dissipate leaving a nice lace. Good!
Smell: spicy, earthy hop character is not quite that of noble hops, but still quite nice. The sweet, light malt aroma is more reminiscent of a Belgian golden ale than a German Pilsner; still, I like it.
Taste: light, sweet malt with a great hop flavor; very much like the aroma. Again, that Belgian-y character sticks around, which I happen to really like. Stylistically spot-on? Not really. But tasty? You bet.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a great carbonation and a mammoth, mouth-filling creaminess. Moa bottle-conditions most of their beers, it seems ... I love it!
Overall: a tasty beer which probably doesn't fit into any style that well, despite the intention of the brewer. I'd definitely have this again.

Brought back by my parents from a world cruise: green 375ml bottle, best before 21 Oct 2013. Poured into a Duvel glass on 23 May 2012.
Really impressed with this beer: golden with a huge white head.
Great tasting brew with a yeasty, piney nose. It may well be classed as a german Pilsner by the brewers but it carries a lot more bite, flavour and body than any other beer I've had in that style.
Another reason why I'd like to visit New Zealand.

Poured into a Warsteiner pokal. Pours a light golden amber. Fine one finger off-white head with good retention and lacing. Constant healthy carbonation. Looks good. Aroma of sweet malt, floral, grassy hops and a hint of grain. Fairly complex flavor of biscuit malt and grassy hops with a light mixture of wheat and citrus. Bitter hop finish with slight sourness; there is almost a saison yeast element here, but subtle. I found the flavor combination to be pleasant and intriguing, very flavorful for a low ABV pilsner. Light to medium bodied, but nice mouth feel from the carbonation. I like the high carbonation from the bottle conditioning, very enjoyable I and will buy this again.

12.7 fl oz bottle served in a nonic pint glass, reviewed from notes:
A - Pours a murky straw golden/honey color with a soapy 3 finger head. Retention is surprisingly decent.
S - Skunky weed, honey, clean pilsner malt, grassy hops, and more weed. Maybe this one's skunked? If you like the smell of cannabis, this one's for you.
T - Bitter, dank weed; light pale malt. Watery. Still reminiscent of cannabis. Plain, boring, and just plain awful.
M - A bit coarse, but entirely too wet for a lager. Not good at all.
D - I may have had a skunked beer (in which case I blame the green glass), or maybe it's supposed to be this way. It's built poorly, poorly executed, and doesn't even taste good. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.

12.7 fl oz green glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a Fort Collins Brewing pilsner glass in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado. Reviewed live.
A: Pours a three finger head of bad thickness, no cream, and decent retention. A cloudy yellow colour.
Sm: Cannabis - heavy! Indubiably weed-centric. Floral.
T: Floral, slightly piney, and a bit citrusy. Pleasant but simple. Decently balanced.
Mf: Coarse and wet. Doesn't at all suit the flavours.
Dr: Drinkable but bad. I wouldn't have it again - even on draught.

Picked up a 750 mL of this brew at my local Whole Paycheck. I was a little surprised to see a label describing it as a "New Zealand Lager," given that it was crowned with a cork and appeared to have some yeast sediment. Feeling it was all a bit incongruous, I had to give it a try.
Pours a hazy, effervescent yellow with a nice tuft of marshmallow-white head. Definite lacing around the edge of the glass. One of the more visually appealing bottled lagers I've had in recent memory.
The scent is grainy, with some noble hop aromas rounding things out. Slightly spicy.
First taste had a pleasant grassy, bitter quality with slight sweetness -- this is definitely not Steinlager (which puts me much at ease, as I stare at the remaining 345 mL). As others have remarked, there's not a lot of body, but I don't mind that since this is a Pilsener-style lager. Not really known for tremendous mouthfeel, you know?
All in all, a very pleasant beer. If it weren't bottle conditioned and so damn attractive in the glass, I might be less inclined to review it favorably. But as it stands, one of the finer bottled lagers I can find around here, and worth trying if you see it around your local shop.
