Poured from a 22oz. bottle. Has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is a bit malty, slightly sweet. Taste is good, malts up front, some hops at the finish, well balanced and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall would be a good beer on a hot afternoon.

Should have known that this wasn't going to be a good one, as it was on sale before the checkout isle at Total Wine.
Serving from a 1.75 pt delivered a rich hazy caramel color with a with minimal head.
Could not define any significant aromas (kind of bland)
First taste was similar to the aroma of a malty lager but finished with a really awful aftertaste
Unfortunately, after the first several sips mouthfeel was overpowered by the aftertaste.
Bottom line: Excellent beer for putting out fires and beer pong!!!

Here's an interesting one. I don't know if it's due to age or something, but there's some real interesting flavors going on here, in a pretty good way. Diamond Knot's Vienna Style Ale pours out a hazy golden color with a finger of head that quickly drops down. The aroma is nice and malty with a little ... tartness? Yeah, there's some tart aspects here that actually work pretty nicely. The taste is refreshingly tart with a touch of fruit at first, followed up by some nice doughy malts. Not at all what I expected from the label - but it's good. The mouthfeel is light and pleasant, and the drinkability is very good. Overall, a bit of an odd duck, but I honestly think it all works out.

A: very hazy orangish amber with large off-white head but very little residual lacing
S: herbal, floral, green bell peppers
T: similar to smell - herbal and floral, substantial vegetal notes
M: medium light body with a tart bite to it
O: Not a good example of a Vienna Lager on several levels: it is cloudy (should be clear), and the vegetal notes in the aroma and flavor are off-putting, as is the tartness. This sample was disappointing.

Picked this up for a whopping $1.99 at Total Wine. Poured a murky orange and brown color, ugly muddled haze to a beer that should have lots of clarity. Aroma was lots of vinegar, copper pennies.
Taste, more copper pennies, terrible off flavor of vinegar/metallic sourness. Can't really discern any of the Vienna malt here, any mild sweetness or body is enveloped by the weird off flavors. I mean drain pour weird.
Since my last foray into discounted Diamond Knot beers at Total Wine was a total bust, I made sure to wait until I was able to split this four ways. It was pretty much unanimous this was a terrible beer.
I like Diamond Knots hoppy stuff not bought at Total Wine, but other than that, their discounted stuff is that way for a reason. Avoid.

I review this one to help it get sufficient reviews for a score.
Pours a slightly hazy dark amber orange with hints of red and gold and a short yellow/white head. Nice color.
Nose is initially sweet honey that softens and has a bit of an orange undertone but the honey character is very pleasing.
Mouthfeel is very lightly carbonated and has a tart/sour character. Highly acidic (which is a good thing for my taste).
Flavor profile is somewhat unique to my experience and I confess I am not an expert with Vienna Lagers. Flavors are full with green ivy, crisp green celery and peppers and with green vegetable undertones.
I like the tart green acidic flavor profile and find it great with food. Finish is a nice pine/green pepper bitter that lingers.

Poured from a bottle into a flute glass.
Look – soft amber color, a little hazy, with about half a finger’s worth of white or off-white foam that dissipates quickly.
Smell – hoppy, but with an interesting floral essence to it. A little sweet-smelling too…reminds me of butterscotch for some reason.
Taste – Much like the smell, it’s obviously hoppy, but it has this other essence to it that’s somewhat masking the hop’s taste. It has a tang and muskiness that almost makes it seem more like a barleywine.
Mouthfeel – very well balanced, but maybe leans a little more toward the creamier side.
Overall – very interesting brew to sample, taste, and think about. Good taste and intriguing.

A: sort of a hazy orange hue. too hazy for a vienna. head is reasonable and there is some pretty lacing here. i guess since it's an "ale" i can accept the haze.
S: smells more like apple cider than beer. kind of confused by this brew. a vienna ale? what should i expect? probably not apple cider no matter what.
T: fruity. a bit cider-like. apple cider. i think there is something wrong here...acetaldeydhe? and cider? booo.
M: moderate mouthfeel on a light body.
D: what exactly is this thing...how can you be a vienna and be an ale? not possible in my opinion and this bottle proves my case. regardless of the off-flavors, i dont think this would have worked.

Pours a murky dark orange with a 1/2 inch foamy tan head that becomes an oily film on the top of the beer. Random patterns of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasty malt and some light fruity aromas. Taste is actually a bit sour with some malt and fruity flavors. It doesn't completely ruin the taste, but it's not so good. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel. Overall, this is not too good of a beer based only on the sour aspect found in the taste. I think that this could be something decent if that issue wasn't present.

This poured a hazy golden-yellow. Almost resplendent in the sunlight. It presents a bold malty-sweet aroma that dominates. Tastes sweet, ends dry, with a thin finish that disappoints. Looks are unfortunately everything for this one. I like the idea behind it, though.

22 ounce bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Ever so slightly hazed, amber-orange body with a smallish, frothy (for the time it's around), white head.
Smell: Homemade apricot jam spread over lightly toasted bread and biscuit tops and a teeny tiny sprinkling of herbs and old dried lemon peel.
Taste: Bready malts forward with some slight chewiness to them, gaining some biscuit-tasting momentum, while delivering a scant caramel sweetness. It has that tangy apricot fruitiness noted from their other brews. Minutely herbal, dully citrus-hinting hops with sufficient bitterness to balance. Drying, tangy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Certainly a non-traditional Vienna, what with it's ale yeast strain producing a scorching case of fruitiness that starts to become grating after awhile.

Strong, malty aroma has a nice and tempting fruity overtone. It pours a slightly hazy coppery amber with a decent off-white head. Malty flavor has a firm hoppy undertone and just a hint of fruit. Smooth, firm-bodied texture has a decent amount of fizz to it. Definitely worth a try.

5.6% ABV. per bottle label.I bought this thinking I was getting a Vienna lager,it says ale on the bottle!Iam not sure where to categorize this.Poured into a becker a copper/bronze with a large fluffy slight off white head that settled into frothy mass leaving a full ring of lace behind as it settled slowly.Sweet fruit ale esters in the nose, much sweetner than expected,a little vienna lager-like doughiness as well.Starts out sweeter on the palate with juicy fruit flavors followed with some drying spiciness in the finish,it gets a little toasty after a bit as well.It has some Vienna lager qualities but its a little to fruity and sweet.its still a decent Ale.
