Had this on tap at the Diamond Knot brewpub in Mukilteo.

Appearance: light honey hue with huge cloudiness and a finger of soft compact white head. Nice.

Smell: wheaty, refreshing banana/clove aroma with a little bubblegum to boot. Good!

Taste: flavor is hoppier than the aroma suggests. Plenty of bitterness. The flavor profile is good but I think has a little more hops than I would like. It doesn't quite have enough of the good hefe stuff I like; if it tasted more like the aroma, it would be grand.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with great carbonation makes it nice and creamy.

Drinkability: refreshing and tasty enough.

DK's hefe arrives in a distinctive shade of creamy ochre-gray not unlike the color of an orange creamsicle. It is equally opaque and boasts a spiced nutmeg/clove nose with a dash of black pepper. Though this is a traditional Bavarian model, crisp wheat elements shine through independently of more exotic yeast phenols. The body is smooth, the lace is happy, and there's not a lemon in sight.

Very nice. And it shows the unusual quality of leaving yeast deposits at the bottom of an imperial pint serving.

pours a very cloudy yellow with a small white head, and good lacing.

smell is of wheat, some banana, yeast, and a whiff of caramel, and a touch of citrus.

taste is creamy, wheat, and some citrus, ends dry.

overall a very nice hefe-weizen, well done.

On-tap at Diamond Knot brewpub in July 2008.

"A true German Style HefeWeizen with subtle banana and clove aromas. Great flavor with a crisp finish and a pleasant aftertaste."

Amazing. Almost all of Diamond Knot's beers are amasing. Please don't tell InBev or Buttwisser!

A= gorgeous cloudy unfiltered wheat, not much head but wow constant lacing from top of the glass down.

S= definitely a nose-catching experience, even if you're not a big Hefe fan. Delightful aroma, the banana and clove are evident, modest citrus/lemon notes.

T= wow this one really caught us off-guard-- startlingly great, in fact. Balanced, nothing to put anyone off, nice unfiltered taste, banana evident, hints of clove and mild citrus notes. Gulp gulp gulp.

M= very clean, very fresh, very pleasant.

D= you'll never forgive youreslf if you don't make the effort to get this on-tap at Diamond Knot, some day. Plan a vacation around it ;-)
