Poured black with good carbonation and a nice tannosh head. Nose is dry, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, bread. Taste starts sweet, roasted mat, chocolate and some nice coffee notes. Noce body, balanced and tasty. Nice coating mouthfeel with cocoa and roasted malt. Very smooth and easy to drink.

On draught at the brewpub, Possession Porter is a dark blackish brown with a creamy, light tan head leaving heavy sheets of foamy lace.
Smell is really muted, even though it's served cold, it's still falls short of the other Diamond Knots I've had here tonight at the same temp. Mainly sort of generic dark caramel malts, not too sweet though, or particularly chocolately or any of the other flavors that normally stand out in a porter. Some light minty hops. I didn't help that someone ordered one of their hot stone fajita's or whatever it is that is sizzling
Taste is pretty good but really not super exciting, seems heavy on the black patent malt without a lot of added depth. Herbal galena hops provide some minty brightness but they get lost behind the char of the malt, although it's not particularly acrid, I guess I just prefer more chocolate.
Mouthfeel is on the crisp and dry side, some fullness, medium bodied, could use some oats, or, like the rest of their draughts, a warmer serving temp!
Drinkability is ok, of the couple pints I had on this very pleasurable visit, it was my least favorite. Still, no slouch by any means, clean and well made, but really just not my taste in porters.

Your first sip of this dark ale tells you you've entered serious porter territory. The flavor is anything but shy and makes greater use of bittering and hop flavor than most porters do.
The Lincoln Avenue alehouse served me this beer in a dimpled imperial pint mug that must have just emerged from the dishwasher for it was still warm. A winning aroma unfurled that was both creamy and roasted. Next came a solid wall of lace.
A strange combination of aggressive bittering, gruff roastiness, and a silken mouthfeel make this one masculine yet gentle. Above all, distinctive.

Had this beer on tap at Hooverville in Seattle.
Appearance: nice, rich black hue with a creamy tan head. Looks like a porter!
Smell: light but good coffee and chocolate aroma with a hint of a tart bitterness; basically all solid roasted malt aromas. I like it.
Taste: smooth flavor with lots of coffee. There's a nice bitterness to it as well. Hops are earthy and work with the flavor, although they are also just a little vegetabley.
Mouthfeel: smooth and creamy; just shy of silky. Really rather enjoyable for a porter.
Drinkability: an extremely solid session porter. This beer is definitely more drinkable than the sum of its parts; I could quaff pint after pint of this stuff.

Had this on tap at Archers Alehouse in Bellingham and I was impressed by how flavourful this porter is on first sip. Huge nose full of a smoky note that combines with the hops and malt. The did taste slightly smoky to me and the mouthfeel was quite thick but very drinkable. Lots of bang for the ABV buck

This one was on tap at Elk Public House. Served in a pint glass.
Pours a black walnut color and is opaque. It has a bubbly light tan head which produces very good lacing on the glass.
The smell is a robust coffee and chocolate aroma, with an earthy peat fragrance, and a little roasted smokiness.
The taste is a rich roasted malt flavor, with some charcoal as as as some coffee and chocolate. Not a lot of bitterness in this one. Very nice. Hard to beat
The mouth feel is smooth but maybe a bit watery.
This is a very drinkable porter, of outstanding quality. I would have this again for sure.

Pours a deep black with a 1.5 finger tan head that lasts and lasts.
Nose is deep and earthy with toasted malts and chocolate.
Taste: Freshly baked, lightly toasted pumpernickel bread. Chocolate, hazelnut, white pepper. Wonderfully bitter hops. Deep and complex, more flavors emerge as this porter warms.
Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, with ample carbonation and an excellent spicy finish on the back of the tongue. Highly recommended.

This is a dark, nearly black beer with a rich foamy tan head. Smells of both mocha and almost vanilla are present as well a hints of smoky flavors. The taste exhibits a sharp bitterness first with out sweet coffee malts behind. The initial hop bitterness is uncharacteristically high for a porter, but not outside the style, and very enjoyable. There is a medium long bitter and dry finish and a nicely creamy mouthfeel. A super drinkable, very enjoyable beer.
