Beer review from BA Mag Sep 2007.
Lucky is actually brewed by Australian Independent Brewers, who specialize in contract brewing. We got our bottle in Sydney, and it's actually shaped like a laughing Buddha. Word is, it'll be making an appearance in US clubs as a "high-end" beer soon. It's actually an Asian-style Lager, brewed with rice, malted barley and Czech Saaz hops.
Pours a pale golden color that's a touch hazy, crowned with creamy white lacing. Soft aroma of pale malts, apples and some spicy Saaz. Smooth and creamy on the palate, very light with a fluffy carbonated mouthfeel. Seems to fall flat somewhere in the middle. Hint of malty sweetness up front with notes of apple, vegetal hints, boiled rice and slight grassy bitterness that gives the beer some backing. Dries out into a coarse hay-like finish.
Fans of Asahi or Kirin beers might enjoy this one. It's extremely easy to drink, the bottle is pretty damn cool and pairing it with nearly any Asian food is a no-brainer since it's so neutral. But it could use a cleaner finish, better hop presence and more carbonation to be a worthy contender within its style--doesn't come across very lager-like.

(Served in a globe glass)
A- This beer pours a crystal clear yellow body with a snow white head that is supported by a sea of slow bubbles. The head sticks to the glass as it breaks up.
S- The green dry licorice note has some noble hop hints and a faint sulfur hint when it is pretty warm. The smell is nice but pretty clean.
T- The soft slightly sweet taste of corn has a dry raw grain hint to it and a flat flavor in the finish. The field corn flavor returns on the exhale.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a flat texture on the tongue and a tight scrubbing fizz in the finish.
O- This beer has a nice aroma of a good Kolsch but the flavor just doesn’t follow through. It has an odd “flat” flavor which is the only way I can really describe it. Almost like club soda without the carbonation.

Lucky Beer... labeled Luckybuddha on the front of the green-glass 'Buddha' shaped bottle.
There appears to be no freshness date but the back label reads "IMPORTED BEER - PRODUCT OF CHINA... .. BREWED AND BOTTLED BY CHEERDAY BREWERY HANGZHOU, CHUNAN COUNTY, ZHEJIANG PROVINCE, CHINA'
11.16 oz. bottle, 4.8% ABV
$1.99 @ Whole Foods, 10020 Regency Circle, Omaha, NE
As might be expected, the green glass has left this beer skunked. It's also somewhat hazy. It appears to have had some yeast sediment in it...? Or is that just sediment because it's old (doesn't taste particularly old)...
It pours a deep golden-orange body beneath a short head of short-lived bright white froth. Interestingly, it still leaves curtains of tiny spots and splashes with each sip.
The aroma is ... skunk... but with some sweetish and grainy malt behind it. The hops that are there don't quite make it through, but they do add to the generic "beer" aroma - topped only by the skunkiness which brings it up to the "imported beer" arena.
The flavor, as usual, follows the aroma: generic imported beer that's been skunked. There's a bit of a light sweet malt character to it, and a touch of floral character. Also some graininess and grassiness. It's very-firmly bitter, and well-balanced. In this case, the Chinese have done a very good job of replicating a low-priced, exported southern German 'Pilsner".
Easy to drink, and with that "european aroma and flavor", this is a great beer to share with your neighbors - especially given the odd-looking green Buddha bottle ;)

Bottle: Poured super light bright yellow lager with a small pure white foamy head with light retention. Aroma of adjunct and fusel alcohol is not very enticing. Taste is also dominated by adjunct with light fusel alcohol notes. Body is light with medium carbonation. Not just bland but actually quite bad.

A 330ml green glass bottle with a BB of May 2013. The bottle is shaped like a Buddha - lucky indeed. Picked up cheap from Morrisons not too long ago; the label states that this was brewed in Qiandaohu, China (though I assume it's the same beer).
Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear pale gold colour with medium carbonation. Forms a decent head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of very light malt with faint notes of overcooked veg, stewed hops, a hint of cooked grainy sweetness and the merest whisper of noble hop overtones. Dull.
Tastes of ultra-light malt with a mild dry finish. Notes of weak stewed hops and overdone veg. Slightly sweet. A subtle hint of bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is light, dry and tingly, with a thin watery body. Mildly astringent, with an aftertaste of almost nothing.
Meh - pretty bland. Nothing technically wrong here, but it's dull as ditchwater. The only reason to buy it is the cool bottle - the downside is you have to drink the contents. Little aroma or flavour and no depth of character. I propose that this beer henceforth be called Sucky beer. Only get one if you want the bottle for something.
