Bamber's is a nice small local store that mostly sells imported food and beer. they had two sections of shelving devoted to beer which was a lot less than wine. Overall the selection was decent but nothing great. Had some Bell's and Belgians. The one thing this store was good for beer wise was the ability to buy singles to try some new things. They had a lot of Bell's singles and also the Thomas Hardy ale was available in a single. The one problem I had was that I felt like a good bit of the beer was past its date which made it hard to find something worth buying. Food wise the store is great as it is an ' Italian store' that reminds me of my youth. I think that beerwise I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here to get some beer since there are better places to visit solely for beer in the area; however, definitely a beer section worth checking out if you are in the store for some good Italian food. The service was also very good as the grocer followed me around the store and helped me out. The only downfall was that she didn't know much about beer while she tried to be helpful the whole time.
Also as a side note, I really think that if Bamber's is on here than Martin's probably should be as well for the sole fact that they may have less beer but more of it is fresh and it is more frequently visited than Bamber's.

Bamber's is a little upscale supermarket near the Farmer's market in South Bend. They carry a lot of high quality and hard to find food and wine and also have several shelves of beer. The beer is almost all craft brewed with a couple of exceptions. Mostly this place is good for their singles, which are overpriced but often worth buying anyway because of how unusual or hard to find they are. It is the only place in town, for instance, to buy Thomas Hardy's (~$6.99). Usually have singles of Victory (also rare in S.Bend), Lakefront, 3 Floyds, Bells (Third Coast Old Ale), Avery, Boulder, more. A fair number of imports too, such as St. Bernardus (Prior 6, Abt 12), Corsendonk, Rochefort, St. Peter's, Youngs, etc. They have some kind of special deal with their distributor wherein they don't buy full cases so they can offer singles and not let things get too old on the shelves. So, in summary: a nice little selection of quality beers, a bit expensive, but quality.
