My wife and I wanted to try something new on the east side for dinner one evening. We came over here last week (looks like Buckeye Beer Engine) has been open less than a month. The service was the best part of our experience.
The food was not overly great as other people have mentioned it. I am a huge fan of bbq and meat. The brisket, hog wing and cheeseburger was not up to what they made it out to be. The popcorn shrimp was too unique for the establishment, too. The shrimp were soaked in an asian sauce without indicating so on the menu - surprise!
The beer was decent. Most of the offers you can get in other areas, the rarest beer would have to be the North Coast on draught.
Service was awesome. The bartender was extremely nice as well as the wait staff. Establishment still needs to be renovated a little more, too - restrooms are in a weird spot (downstairs).

I used to be a regular at the original site for the Buckeye Brewery in Bedford. Knowing Garin, Kevin, Bob and crew as I do, I know this was the culmination of many nights of beer-fueled planning. They really did refine their ideas very well and I think they have the makings of the next Cleveland-area BA pilgrimage site.
The room is dominated by a large U-shaped bar that lets most everyone see the two HD TVs, the beer list and view of the liquor stand. There are a few tables between the front windows and the bar as well as a side seating area and a couple of patio tables out the front door. 28 taps, 1 of which being the beer engine for casks or firkins. All but one or two taps were very good craft beers. PBR was available for the least adventuresome.
The menu prices seem steep until your food arrives. The burgers are very good sized, juicy and delivered quickly after your order. The topping ingediants are fresh and plentiful. The fried pickle in the basket with every sandwich is something you don't find at the typical beer bar.
Buckeye beers are all well balanced and within BJCP guidelines. Being a former Buckeye regular, I believe these beers deserve more recognition than they get. There were three or four Buckeye offerings which should increase as the brewers get back to brewing instead of setting up a bar. Both times I've been here, there has been a Bell's ale on cask. I had the Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter during the pre-opening weekend. From what I've been told, they want to rotate taps frequently. The current offerings run the spectrum and every BA should find something they enjoy and haven't tried before. The beer list shows price, glass type, ABV and IBU (for some). 4 oz tasters are offered for a price.
The staff seems new to beer bar bartending and have little information about their current taps. They are friendly and responsive to requests. Food arrived quickly after ordering.

This is the new Buckeye Brewing pub & restaurant that opened up on March 13th.
Now to the important part of the review, the beer. I counted 27 taps & two beer engine handles for the casks. They had the Buckeye 76 IPA, Fuggle Ale, & Mammoth Stout on tap; they also had the 76 on cask which unfortunately ran out when I ordered it. They say this place with be a test or pilot brew spot for Buckeye, so Im looking foreword to trying some of those brews, along with some Hippie IPA. The other taps are going to rotate often, todays selection included: Anchor Steam, Avery Hog Heaven, Bells Double Cream Stout, Founders Black Rye, New Holland Goat & Poet, Celebrator, Delirium Tremens, DFH Aprihop & 90, Flying Dog Gonzo, Hebrew RIPA, Ommegang, Hoegaarden, Kulmbacher Schwarzbier, Lagunitas IPA, Maredsous 8, Mojo Risin, Murphys, Original Sin, Pabst, Rogue Chocolate Stout, & Spaten.
Very nice initial selection, I cant wait to see what they get in. Beers were served in snifters, goblets, pilsners, & pints. Growlers to come in the near future.
Now the food. Went there for lunch with a co-worker. I had a burger that had bacon, bbq, & coleslaw that was made with blue cheese, I thought it was very good. Co-worker had a Portobelo & roasted red pepper sandwich with goat cheese, she thought it was excellent as well. Both sandwiches were served with fresh made, thick cut potato chips and a deep fried pickle, very good with the homemade ketchup that they served. Went back for dinner and had a smokehouse sampler that included beef brisket, shredded BBQ pork, a large BBQ rib, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Everything was exceedingly excellent, the mashed potatoes were awesome. The lunch service was by a very excited, friendly, and knowledgeable woman named Lisa, her enthusiasm was very impressive. Dinner was a little more crowded and consequently service to our booth was little less impressive, but not really that bad considering that the place just opened up.
Overall, I was very impressed and cant wait to come back as often as possible, after all its a whole 8 minutes from my apartment.
