Had this on tap at City Tap House in Philadelphia. Poured a red brown, clear with frothy white head, little retention and lacing. Smell of light but sweet malt, some spice, cinnamon and pumpkin. Taste had very little malt body up front but then sweet pumpkin was strong in the finish. Good fall beer, simple but tasty, better to use this to wash down some food than to sip it as a session beer.

Every few months I go to Dock Street and they often have the same few beers kicking around, you'll pretty much always find Rye IPA, Bo Pils, Man Full of Trouble Porter, etc. Which wouldn't be a big deal since those beers are really well made and favorites of others, but they pour only 6 taps and if half of them are always the same, there isn't always a lot of variety. However, they will occasionally surprise you, like tonight with The Great Pumpkin.
The beer is a clear, deep orange-highlighted amber with a layer of white foam that does not seem to take. The aroma hits you as the beer is placed on the table. It's like the characteristic warm pie spices, with a graham cracker, toasty malt aroma. The hops are absent in the nose. The beer is very tasty, it has the rich clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and ginger flavors that are perfectly implemented and a bit of hop bitterness to balance the dessert spice. The pumpkin is not really apparent to me until the finish, when it has a vegetal, almost tannic quality. The beer is medium bodied and carbonation is great, allowing the spices aroma to come out of the beer, but still providing a gentle bubbles to keep your tongue fresh. This is a really good example of a pumpkin beer that I would definitely have again
