Pours a clear amber color with a white tiny bubbled heading that leaves a ring around the glass.

Smell is of roasted malt with a hint of chocolate and caramel malt.

Taste is all the same but a bit more of a citrusy feeling of hops, again same as the the nose a bit of chocolate and caramel.

Mouth has great carbonation, medium bodied but very alive on the tongue, Leaves a funky bready, yeasty, caramel aftertaste.

Drink is good a bit funky but certainly could be a good session brew.

A - Golden on the edge & amber in the middle. Very thin head that disappears in a blink of an eye.

S - Floral hops followed by a punch of malt.

T - Spicy and hoppy at first but then followed by a big maltiness. While showing each side on its own overall it is balanced. Pretty nice flavor.

M - Stinging sensation from high carbonation with a medium mouthfeel.

D - Overall pretty drinkable - my biggest complaint being the stinging carbonation.

Got this in Philadelphia today at a local deli. Nice copper coloured beer with a pillowy white head, but the head disappears quickly. Solid, malty-caramel on the nose with fuggle hops perhaps? Nice chewy brew, with a medium bodied taste and great drinkability. I wish I had more. Very nice session brew, warm finish.

A deep amber color with a wispy head that didn't stick around long. Caramel and biscuit malt and pine hops in the nose. The palate begins with some bitterness with some sweet malt in the center. Pine, citrus hops at the end with a slightly bitter finish. This is an OK ale, but I not great. I think it could use some depth and complexity.

Pours amber with a weak white head that leaves minimal lacing as it retreats back into the beer. Smell is decent, citrus hops backed by caramel malt tones, not overpowering by smells balanced. Taste starts spicey then moves to a sweet caramel malt flavor, nice balance. Bitterness hits mid-way through followed quickly by citrus hops. Ends dry with a nice hop presence long after the beer has been swallowed. Light to medium mouthfeel. Overall, a pretty nice offering from Dock Street. First time I've had one of their brews and I honestly wasn't expecting much from it. More on the hoppier spectrum when it comes to amber ales (this is more of a pale ale) and would definately go well with some spicy foods. Cheers!!

Dock Street- Philadelphia Amber

A- Light amber brown with a small quick fizzing head.
S- Sweet caramel malt with cherry and grape like notes.
T- Sweet malt, slight carmelized grains with tangy fruits; grape orange come through.
M- Thick chewy malt gives way for a dry, slight boozy finish.

Overall- Middle of the road here. Worthy of a pint or 2.

A: Poured a clear amber with orange hues and a small, fizzy white head with minimal retention and lacing.

S: some light lemony-orange notes and some light dry caramel.

T: started out with a malt sweetness and some citrus and oranges. The hopping was fairly light and floral with the caramel dominating the palate. The flavor started out promising but kinda muddles in the finish.

M: light and creamy with a dry citrus fade and light carbonation.

D: An easy drinking session. definitely wont wow you in any way, but a good swilling pub amber none the less.

A - Copper hued, with minimal head but decent lacing that continued to hang around down the glass.

S - Crisp hops smell is present with clean aromas.

T - Nice clean hop flavors, very reminiscent of Fuller's ESB. Sweetness is also present. Good malt backbone also comes through. Overall very nicely balanced beer.

M - Medium carbonation level, thinner mouthfeel. Not bad, just average.

D - Good drinkability on this one. Not too heavy, but very nice and flavorful. Again, reminiscent of a nice english ESB.

Single, 12 oz bottle copped from Total Wine and More in Union...
Dock Street's Illuminator was a great Bock beer, so I was eagerly anticipating sampling their American Amber...
Pours a clean, clear, lucid, ruby-red colored hue with minimal head and hardly any lacing visible at all...
Strong, noticeable amber aroma bursting with grains, caramel, and vanilla nuances...
Very light, clear-bodied flavor with a slight hint of amber, grain, and caramel that strongly complemented the aroma...
The mouthfeel is where I was somewhat let down, being very watery and loose without any real substance to it... Very watery flavor without a real hint of taste...
Not the best suggestion of the style for sure, not recommended...

Pours a slightly fogged copper amber with a creme head that is fairly sizeable. Nose has a mild, but malty character. Flavor is kind of soapy and hoppy. Nothing real crazy going on, but it isn't at all bad. Feel is about typical. Overall this is decent. A bit off center, but not really too bad. I might be interested in trying this on cask.

Dock Street "Philadelphia Brand" Amber Beer pours a clear deep-amber body with an orange cast and orange and gold highliights. The frothy off-white head holds very well, continually maintaining a solid surface covering, and leaves some nice rings and partial walls of craggy lace in its wake.

The aroma is citrusy and grassy over a delicate caramelish malt base.

The body is delicately crisp across the palate with a medium body and a median carbonation.

The flavor starts hoppy... citrusy with cascades. It quickly show some light maltiness, however. It's caramelish but delicate, and there's just enough character there to keep it interesting. The maltiness reaches its peak at mid-palate, and then the hops return just as the bitterness kicks in. It's nicely balanced, and the brisk bitterness turns it back around, leading to a gently hoppy, mildly citrusy and grassy, dry finish.

Overall, this incarnation of the brand represents a pretty decent American pale ale. It's not as malty as it once was, and I'd question the "amber" ale designation, but that's what they've called it. Regardless, it's very well done, and a pretty accessible beer.

This is a beer I wish I could get in NJ but most places I go dont carry it
