Poured from a larger growler filled at Devon PA Whole Foods into a Nonic glass. Not too much head and just a bit of lacing. Pours a cloudy coppery hue. Faint flowery pine smell. Taste is very hop forward, more bitter than most IPA's in this range that lingers a bit. Overall another impressive entry in Dock Street's lineup.

Another on-tap Philly airport tasting. Nice rye flavor and nice and hoppy. I think a bit lacking in smell though. Nothing extraordinary, but very tasty. Wouldn't seek out to buy in a bottle shop, but still very enjoyable. Pretty akin to most of the other rye IPAs I've had.

On tap at a bar in the Philadelphia airport.
A: Hazy dark amber body with a finger of off-white froth. Pretty good retention, decent lace. Not bad.
S: Spicy, with hops and rye both contributing. Not too intense or complex, though.
T: Spicy, leafy hops right up front, with bready malt and spicy rye building in midway through. Long, bitter finish. Pretty tasty, but nothing spectacular.
M: Creamy, full carbonation in a medium body. Excellent.
O: Pretty good beer. I'd gladly drink it again, but won't be seeking it out.
Cheers!

Draft offering at the source. The brew appears a hazed copper color with a finger of frothy to silky off-white head. A full wall of lace paints the glass as the cap fades. When swirled, a finger gets revived across the top.
The aroma is fruity and floral with accenting citrus hop qualities. A soft touch of alcohol is also present blending together quite well. While the nose is not bold by any means, it is enjoyable without fault.
The taste mimics the aroma with mild biscuit grain feel slightly imparted by the rye inclusion. The hops present thenselves with flavors that are grassy with some vegetative matter. It displays a pleasant resinous feel across the back. It is surprising how fruity, floral and citrus-like the aroma is with the flavor being quite contrasting.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Overall this is a smooth and easy drinking brew that I would have again if the opportunity presented itself. I bet this brew is pretty awesome when fresh.

i dont know if this is different from their regular rye ipa (never had it) but it is listed as fresh hop rye. i do know this was delicious, maybe even a little better than my favorite fresh hop port high tide, tasted side by side tuesday night.
pretty darkish amber and clear. big fresh hop blast aroma and taste, bitter grapefruit noted with that distinct simcoe hop flavor. nicely mated and very drinkable. i like the bitter, dry finish. notes of spice from the rye, not like hop rod rye but still noticeable.
would certainly get this again.

On tap at DSB.
Pours a dark gold color, opaque. Dime thin layer of head stays on it throughout. Piney and hoppy smell, nothing fantastic or overwhelming.
T-citrus and pine,seems like a pretty standard ipa,which is not a knock
M-here's where this beer shines. Absolutely smooth on the palate, very pleasant

On tap at the brewpub.
Cloudy amber color, little head and what's there has low retention and minimal lacing.
Mild aroma, faintly metallic, floral, grassy hops, muted malt. Flavor is also fairly mild and a bit muddled; bitter and lightly sweet, with a touch of spicy rye, and a vaguely metallic note. Brewery describes this as "aggressively hopped" but it came up a bit short for me. Again, there's the spiciness from the rye, which is nice, and a little grassy flavor, but the hops are mostly generically bitter and not particularly nuanced.
Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Pretty average for the style.
