A: Pours a one finger tan brown head. Color is pitch black with light to moderate lacing. Appears to have very fine carbonation around the edges.
S: Toasted malt, vanilla, milk chocolate, peanut butter. Slightly untraditional for this style, but I really like it.
T: Really spicy up front from the Belgian yeast, then settles to the base Yeti. Chocolate, plum, molasses intertwine. Some bitter twang from the hops. A dynamic taste experience.
M: Just enough carbonation, slick and tangy, leaves the palate smooth with hints of bitter chocolate.
O: For me, as a huge fan of Belgian style, I really like what they did with this beer. You get the spicy, fruity aspect of the Belgian yeast, combined with the smooth, rich flavors of the Yeti. I really like this beer! Well done Great Divide!

A: pour thick black with a one finger tan head. Head has good retention and lacing is good.
S: I definitely smell a lot of Belgian yeast upfront followed by the rich dark malt and some subtle hints of vanilla.
T: Belgian yeast up front followed by the dark malts and a few other notes I can't quite pick out. Yeast stays with you well after the beer has been swallowed. Interesting variation for the style.
M: light carbonation, thick, smooth.
O: interesting take on an already great style.

Dark black with a 1/2 finger of mocha foam, with good retention and lacing. The aroma has chocolate, dark roasted malt, and some dark fruit.
The taste has chocolate, dark roasted malt, dark fruit, and Belgian Yeast, which I did not pick up in the aroma. Sweet, with a little bitterness from the dark roasted malt for balance. The Belgian yeast is different, and there are also some herbs. Interesting, and different.
Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden for 9.50 % abv. The aftertaste is both sweet, and bitter from the dark roasted malt. A well made beer.

Here we have another great beer from the Great Divide. And who does not love a robust imperial stout? The Yeti has so much to offer; from the beginning, as it pours out into a pitch black body beneath a chunky beige head, the thirsty Beer Advocate has much to anticipate. Once poured, the Yeti emits an initial waft of grape juice that fades into plum and cocoa powder. Once it hits the tongue, this beer lacquers the palate with a wooly coat of roasted malt, punctuated by sharp bits of fruit, clove and cinnamon, all of it empowered by the ubiquitous Belgian yeast that leaves the mouth dusted with subtle chalkiness.
And yeti, despite an intimidating 9.5% abv, in conjunction with the abovementioned details, the Yeti seems to maintain some surprising smoothness that allows this imperial stout rendition to come off as a sessional quaff – perhaps, the famed Yeti is some sort of impish hybrid. And yeti … this is one good beer.
