12 oz bottle. bottled on July 17, 2012. served into a nonic pint.

A: a reddish hue. hazy, but nothing crazy. head is slightly off-white. retention I great. lacing I spotted.

S: very woody. a lot of cedar. with the hops, smells similar to a cupcake.

T: very sweet, slightly vanilla. a little woody. a serious oak/tannin flavor that is prevalent but not overbearing. the oak plays nicely with the amount of hops that are behind this brew.

M: average carb on a medium/full body.

D: good, but similar to most things of the style, not a brew that should be oak aged. not sure how much time affected this (being about 8 months old...), perhaps the hops would have been more in the forefront and the oak would be a side-note...? who knows. good, but not great is my conclusion.

Appearance-pours a very cloudy orange. 3

Aroma-orange, little grapefruit, doesn't smell to hoppy,slight lemon peel. 3.25

Taste-bitter hops with citrus, you get the sourness of grapefruit, there is some small malt notes. 3

Feel-medium body, alcohol comes in then leaves you with a bitter feel. 2.75

Overall-this would be better enjoyed with food. I could see drinking this eating steak or some other beef on a summer day. I wouldn't buy it again, but wouldn't think twice if someone else offered it to me. 3

Got the Rumble IPA in a Great Divide Sampler 12 pack I was given for Christmas.
Poured into my Harpoon Pint Glass.
A little hazy due to some yeast sediment in the glass.
Was garage temperature in December (45 degrees F)
Smelled like a good amount of hops typical of an IPA but really was not over the top hoppy on the taste. Great mouthfeel as it was perfect carbonation and had a creamy feel.
I really liked this first beer I've had from this Colorado Brewery.
Looking forward to the 2 more bottles of this in the 12 pack.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light amber color, with a thin off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, vanilla, citrus and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of vanilla, caramel and citrus in a prominent display of oak-aging. Then a strong but not over-powering hops bitterness comes in. The malt character is hearty and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a good IPA to drink for a long time if you’re not looking for a hop-bomb.

12oz bottle (bottled 8/19/12) poured into an Alchemist tumbler.

A - Pours a medium amber filled with a thick cloud of yeast suspended throughout the liquid. Three fingers of off-white head show outstanding staying power and lasts for many minutes. Webs of sticky lacing cling to the glass all the way down to the bottom.

S - Quite fruity and estery...very yeasty and breadlike malt character. Hops are spicy and a bit floral. Wood is noticeable but rather subtle. Seems more malty than hoppy in balance.

T - Ctirusy/grapefruity hops up front, followed by some earthy and woody flavors. Caramelly sweet malt, solid hop bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste.

M - Body is medium...medium-low carbonation, more creamy than tingly. Wood becomes more prominant as the beer warms. Alcohol is hidden well.

O - Overall balanced IPA. Not especially heavy on the hops...more of balanced and malt forward example of the style. Wood adds some nuances and becomes more noticeable as the beer warms. Easy drinker...feels quite sessionable, even at 7.1%. A solid yet not very memorable IPA...I'd have another, but not on the top of my list to go back to.

12 oz. bottle, bottled on date reads June 11, 2012 so this beer is about 6 months old chillin in the bottle.

A - Pours a nice orange color with a decent two finger head that chills for a little bit, with a nice bit of lacing coming on down the glass.

S - Can definitely smell the oak coming through in the nose, not a lot of hop presence on the smell. Maybe just a slight hint of booze at the end.

T - Ah yes, this beer is just delightful. The vanilla oak flavor is just wonderful. There is little bit of a warm booze finish in there, but it is minimal.

M - Nice sticky resinous mouthfeel, the vanilla lingers for a bit, which is very nice indeed.

Overall, I love this beer. I will definitely buy this again.

Appearance: A little bit hazy but a good copper color. The head is off white and is around two fingers thick.

Aroma: Sweet malty notes. Grapefruit, piney a very minor butteriness in the nose. Mild hints of apple and pear and light tropical fruits.

Taste: Rather sweet in the front a simple syrup. Tropical fruits, the hops are citrusy but not a tremendous amount there certainly grapefruit notes but it's mostly a malty beer. The mouthfeel is smooth with a slight dry finish.

Notes: A very unique American I.P.A due to it's sweetness but still tasty. Cheers.

Poured into a snifter.

A: Hazy amber with small particles and two-finger, white, frothy head that lasted a couple minutes and left a nice film. Great lacing.

S: Caramel malt and fruit. Hops.

T: Moderate sweetness and solid bitterness. Oak and caramel malt. Matches the nose pretty well.

M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Smooth and slightly dry.

O: This beer smells really nice, and I like that it's an oak aged IPA.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

Pours slightly cloudy coppery with a small clear-pale head, medium amount of slow fine carbonation. Little flakes of sediment drifting around the bottom. Smell is musty, damp, slightly smoky.

Taste is heavily influenced by the oak, very woody, which makes me think of a lot of barleywines I've tasted (without the heavy alcohol flavor, of course). Plenty of hops behind that, with some citrus and floral characteristics. Fairly sweet.

Mouthfeel is pretty light. Overall, this is a nice beer.

- Aged on American & French oak. Bottled on 6/12/12, consumed 11/10/12.

A: Coppery color with a light turbidity of suspended yeast goodies. Visible carbonation was at a stand still, the head was frothy, with an oatmeal tint, small and not holding with a slight speckled lacing.

S: Piney-oak scent, fresh, more alcohol toned. Dry toasted graininess. Leans more towards the oaky nature rather hoppy.

T: Oaky toasted grain and pine, nice toasted base, gentle warmth from the 7.1%. light dry pine based with a floral touch of kilned lemon peels. A dry beginning with a splash of wet burbon citrus coming on the close.

M: Frothy mouthful, light to medium fullness, dry warmth of alcohol and pine.

O: Decent balance of wood aged attributes more so then hops. Oaky wood. Better then average but falls a bit short of a solid good. Flavor is a bit muted, ones fine.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a dismal head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale orange color with some clarity, sediment, and bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: citrus and grapefruit aromas, followed by bready and caramel notes. There was buttery and fruity notes.

Taste: Hop flavors are more noticeable, caramel malts are nice and sweet, lingering bitterness, some bready notes, oak, vanilla, and spicy hop deliciousness.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium bodied, medium carbonation, oakey, and delicious.

Overall: At first, I didn't know what to think of this beer. It actually turned out better than I thought and can't wait to try it out on draft someday.

Light brown with notes of amber. Small head but leaves a little film throughout.Only a touch of cloudiness.

Hops on the nose. A touch of alcohol. Banana bread? Honey or maple.

Definitely taste the hops upfront and then secondly the alcohol, though it’s not offensive. Kind of has a whiskey taste. I don’t taste the banana bread so much…maybe b/c of the whiskey/hops flavor, but I do detect the touch of sweetness which Im leaning towards it being honey rather than maple syrup.

Very smooth mouthfeel. I was expecting it to be a tiny bit astringent but it’s not at all.

Overall: man this is a beer to take your time with. A very deep and complex character that really shows that it is a truly unique style. A rainy day beer. Would love to have it once in a while, but not often…even though it’s absolutely delicious. And I’ll add that it’s pretty high gravity…

Bottled 06/20/2012.

Served cold in a pint glass.

Ruble is a crystal copper color with sticky white head.

Aroma is a strong combination of hoppy and oaky vanilla.

Flavor is nice and hoppy but very very smooth with elements of oak barrel aging.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Smooth and balanced.

Overall a solid IPA but I'm not a fan of aging it.

Pours an almost-clear amber color with a small white head that disappears quickly. Scent is not hoppy at all. More malt and french oak than anything. The wood and vanilla aromas are great, but would never be able to tell this was an IPA from the aroma. Granted, this bottle is like 8 months old. Taste is initially vanilla with some booze...more booze than expected from a 7% beer. The wood-aging of this beer definitely added some boozy characteristics to it, which makes up for the lack of hops. Very mellow hops... I would not call this beer an IPA. Caramel malt and vanilla, with pleasant oak flavors. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, and somewhat velvety. Drinkability is high. Overall, this is not a good example of an IPA. DFH Burton Baton does a way better job of demonstrating this kind of style. However, this beer is still DAMN TASTY. Love the vanilla and oak flavors.

Bottle date 6/12.
I thought that an older bottle date for this IPA would possibly degrade the flavor four months later. But I was pleasantly surprised.

The beer poured a beautiful copper color with a two finger head.

Strong aroma of vanilla and oak.

The mouth feel is smooth.

The finish is enhanced by the aroma which remains with warming.
There is an intense complex taste of fruit, oak and vanilla.

This is a winner. Will drink again soon.

A- was cloudy not as clear as i thought it to be the color although was proper and true to style with slight rust on a golden hue .

S- was proper with citrus aromas like grapefruit and mandarin acompanied by a slight oak note the was hidden in the background .

T- the flavor notes were almost on point beautiful malt backbone. nice citrus hops but a bit to much on the oak .

I have nothing to recommend this beer to any drinker. I also have nothing to turn folks away. There were odd flavors that seemed to reflect extract or poor quality/old ingredients that left me wanting. I know the great guys at Great Divide dont take shortcuts and usually produce amazing products but this beer is the average one among outstanding brews. Will not buy this one again. Sorry guys, try again.

Aroma is kinda' a stale caramelized wood (not specifically oak - certainly not vanilla) - that may not sound too appealing, but it is interesting and not unpleasant. Not finding much for hops.
Slightly cloudy with amber of orange and brown. Off-white head.
Flavor has similar qualities - is a little more complex and the hops do show. Some in the flavor and certainly on the finish in taste an bitterness, including some lingering. I do enjoy the caramel quality with the woody character.
Prickly, tingly carbonation goes well with this beer. Moderate overall feel. I am filling a bit full rather quickly :0(

A - thin almost whispy cream colored head. Cloudy. Murky almost. Flakes sit suspended like fruit in jello. Crazy murky like plakton. Amber color is typical enough for ipa.

S - fruit. Green strawberries, squash, and of course hops. Oddly not much oak

T - sweet malts and hop. Like orange yogurt sprinkled with green hop buds. Aftertaste is bitter but not ridiculously so.

M - mildly effervescent malty.

D - the oak aspect adds little. And sadly this beer while respectable is mostly unremarkable.

12 oz bottle with a brewed on date of 19 June 2012; served in a Sam Adams lager glass.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a frothy off-white head that has moderate durability.

Momentarily forgetting that this was an oak aged beer, I was surprised by the woody and dank aspects of the nose -- so the wood definitely contributes to the aroma, as well as to the taste.

T: I found this a bit too woody (oak) for my taste, both because this is not my favorite flavor component and because the oak aging seem to mask some of the malt and hop character. Eventually, however, I found a nice long-lasting aftertaste that is woody, somewhat y savory and fruity, and only moderately bitter. The flavor, and especially the oak portion, fared better with a little warming (or adjustment?), but then went the other direction.

M: medium body and near medium carbonation that closer to too high than to too low.

O: an interesting, woodsy IPA variant that is worth a try, particularly if you like oak aging.

A- Poured into a tulip glass, nice light amber color, 1.5 finger soapy off white head that quickley falls to a skim that leaves nice lacing.
S- First thing I get to the nose is pine, a hint of woody spicy oak, and lastly citrus, that of grapefruit.
T- This beer drink like a high gravity IPA but isn't at a modest 7.1%. The first thing I get is grapefruit citrus, followed by pine, a nice mellow hint of oak that gives way to a little vanilla as well. Nice oak but not over oaked as many oaked IPA's can be.
M- Nice carbonation, maybe a little more than I would like to have for this style.
O- So far my favorite offering from Great Divide. Very drinkable, hard to not go bck for a second one. I love that the oak is present and warming but not overwhelming. This is a go to if you are in the market for trying a wood aged IPA.

A: Poured from a bottle into a snifter glass. 2" white head with a caramel hint. Good lacing throughout the drink.Body is a hazy, light tan. Truly a beautiful beer to look at.

S: A strong oak hoppiness with hefty notes of caramel and vanilla.

T: Absolutely delicious, the caramel and vanilla flavours almost make you not notice the hops. But this is an IPA, and the hoppy bitterness cannot be denied. Finishes slightly dry if you can wait long enough before sipping again.

M: A good composition. A tiny bit of a creamy thick feel, but definitely no stout.

O: This beer is fantastic! Absolutely my new favourite IPA! This knocks off Ska Brewery's Modus Hoperandi for my top IPA spot. The caramel and vanilla contrast the bitterness of the hops to perfection! Modus is no small opponent, but Rumble proves they can handle this jungle.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy golden copper in color with light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a one finger tall creamy off-white head that reduces to a couple of small patches of large bubbles and a medium thick ring around the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: The beer has moderately strong aromas of oak along with some lighter notes of pine/resin and citrus/grapefruit hops.

T: Like the smell, this beer has a strong flavor of the oak barrel aging along with some lighter notes of vanilla. There is a light amount of caramel malt sweetness followed by citrus/grapefruit and pine/resin hop flavors. Light to moderate mounts of bitterness are present but does not linger too long.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp with some dryness in the finish (from the barrel aging).

O: The barrel aging really makes this an interesting take on an IPA - enjoyable but definitely a sipping beer. This beer feel much bigger than it really is but still one to try.

Pours with a little head.

Medium carbonation.

Smells a lot of caramel, a little oak, wooden and earthy touch and some hops.

A bit complex smell.

Taste is not that complex but is good enough.

Clear caramel follows the nose along with the hops and oak.

Taste is a bit on the sweeter side.

Medium bodied mouth feel.

Overall a good IPA with a difference.

A-Pours a lightly hazed dimly lit orange hue. Head is very frothy and creamy. It dies down to a thin covering. It leaves light locks of lacing along my glass.

S-Nose relies heavily on the combination of sweet citrus and oak. Smells like Oakes tangerines. Light booze. Quite hoppy but the oak really shines too. The two aromas really work well together.

T-Not as good as the nose. The hops are a bit less intense. Caramel is heavier here too. The oak is pleasant and perhaps the best part of the flavor. The nose works better than the flavor but it was still very enjoyable.

M-Medium bodied and a bit creamy. Booze comes into play. Oak may actually make the booze more noticeable. Moderately dry. Relatively light bitterness for an IPA.

O/D-Better than expected. Oaked IPAs are not my favorite. This one was pretty good. One single of this beer was enough for me. Appreciate the effort. Pricey.
