Went in to get Saint Arnold divine reserve #12 at Sunrise Mini Mart. I was a few minutes late but I needed to try this beer anyway. Special bonus for IPA Day.

From bottle. Clear dark amber with minimal head and lacing. Smells like oak and citrus. Heavy sweet oak flavor with light bitter hops throughout. A sweet, oily abrupt finish.

12 oz bottle. bottled on July 17, 2012. served into a nonic pint.

A: a reddish hue. hazy, but nothing crazy. head is slightly off-white. retention I great. lacing I spotted.

S: very woody. a lot of cedar. with the hops, smells similar to a cupcake.

T: very sweet, slightly vanilla. a little woody. a serious oak/tannin flavor that is prevalent but not overbearing. the oak plays nicely with the amount of hops that are behind this brew.

M: average carb on a medium/full body.

D: good, but similar to most things of the style, not a brew that should be oak aged. not sure how much time affected this (being about 8 months old...), perhaps the hops would have been more in the forefront and the oak would be a side-note...? who knows. good, but not great is my conclusion.
