Reviewing yeti bottled on 28th Feb 2012. SO almost 10 months on this one.

Pours very thick dark brown in color. Not to say, pitch black inside the glass. About one finger thick shining brown colored head. Excellent lacing on the sides. Head does not have a lot of standing bu a thin layer does stay throughout.

A very good smelling RIS. And that too after 10 months. Good roasted malts upfront. Some dark chocolate, caramel and licorice or chicory. Some English toffee. A little bit of alcohol also does enter the nose.

Taste: A Very solid taste. Enters with roasted, charred malts but surprisingly they are not overpowering. A very good amount of hop bitterness accompanied by some alcohol. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. Nothing is too strong. Sweetness of malts is very well nullified by the hops and charring. Some coffee and chocolate flavors are also observed.

Mouth feel: One of the very thick looking stout but has surprisingly smooth and creamy feel. Full bodied. Whatever astringency is observed, is seen at the time when the brew enters the mouth. Ends with a very balanced taste. Extremely good finish. Stout is a bit chewy and thick. Gives a kick. Very nice warmth and a must for winter season.

Drink slow. Enjoy. Let it warm you and itself.

BOTTLED ON: JAN 24 2013

A: Pours a pitch black color with a little more than a fingers worth of dark tan head that reduces slowly down to a decent sized cap

S: Roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, and quite a bit of hoppiness. Get a hint of alcohol towards the back end

T: Starts off with roasted malts, dark chocolate, toffee, and a light hint of coffee (it might just be more of the intense roastiness) and then goes into a good bit of bitter hoppiness. Finishes with a light lingering bitterness from both the hops and roasted malts. Alcohol is well hidden

M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Thick

O: A very nice stout with quite a bitter kick. Quite drinkable despite the bitterness and 9.5%. Definitely recommended, especially if you enjoy a good amount of hops in your stout

Appearance: Very dark chestnut, almost black; huge frothy brown head, long lasting, good lacing

Aroma: Initial whiff of hops, followed by roasted malts and chocolate

Taste: Very interesting creamy start with bitter hop flavor on back of tongue with accompanying sweetness; very well balanced and quite tasty; excellent overall

Remarks: I didn't score A, S, T, M at that time, so please disregard those scores

Bottle, around two years old, poured into a tulip glass. Beer pours a dark brown, bordering on black, with two fingers of creamy chocolate colored head. Head sticks around for a bit, before slowly receding leaving thick lacing on the edge of the glass.

Nose is medium roasted coffee, dark fruit, dark chocolate, smoked and roasted malt.

Taste is mainly roasted flavors, bitter coffee and dark roasted malt, mellows into some light sweeter dark chocolate flavors. Lingering coffee bitterness on the tongue.

Full body, thick and creamy, coating your mouth with a sip.

Very dark brown to black, with a nice thick, dimpled beige head. The head stays nice and thick and lingers through the whole glass, with some nice lacing.

Rich roasty, chocolatey aroma with a touch of sweetness and some alcohol. It smells like a big one, and I can't wait to take a sip.

More bitter than I was expecting, almost a tad metallic - coming from what seems to be a combo of the burnt malts and some hops. The chocolate is there, but is more in the background than I expected. There is definitely a complexity there as I expect from a RIS though, with some good sweet malts backing ulp all of the above. I think it's just a little on the bitter side for my taste.

Nice and rich, as I come to expect from a good RIS. Moderate carbonation, and a nice creamy feel.

A very nice stout. For me, if the bitterness were toned way down, it would almost be perfect, as it is in most areas. I'm just not a fan of too much metallic hop bitterness in my stouts. But this is definitely a very solid beer.
