My girlfriend and I go here fairly frequently because they have a great selection of beers and a full service bar for her "girlier" tastes. *Sigh* Oh well. Anyway, MacGregor's Tap selection is pretty impressive, featuring mostly microbrews from the surrounding states: DFH, Troegs, Great Lakes, Eerie, and Victory to name a few. Most of the taps don't seem to rotate that frequently, but there's usually at least a few different beers each time I go. Their food is decent and reasonably priced. My only major complaint is that the service is frequently slow and largely unknowledgeable about beer. Overall, it's a decent place to go for a cheap bite to eat and a good beer.

This was my second trip here and I have only tried the beer. There are about 50 beers on tap from various local brew houses. The two servers I had were both knowledgeable and patience with me. I was able to try to beers I can't get in my hometown which made me very happy. We didn't try any food but I'm told it is good bar food and that is about all. A place you go to get drinks and wings or nachos. Not a place to sit down for dinner.
I am visiting future in-laws and where I'm from places like this simply don't exist so I was rather impressed. I also felt their prices were great. Seemed cheaper than where I'm from.
I enjoyed the beer and the atmosphere greatly. I will certainly be returning in all my future trips. I would recommend this to beer lover looking for a place to go out after dinner for a few drinks.

This was my first visit to any MacGregor's location. Upon arriving at the bar, I was very surprised to see an extensive selection of beers ranging from your large Buds and Sam Adams to the less represented, including four Unibroue brews, and even Stone's Arrogant Bastard.
Beer prices are very reasonable, and most are available in sizes ranging from 11 to 23 oz (the Arrogant Bastard was $2.50 for the 11oz).
Despite the selection of breweries I've come to love, I decided to experiment with their house brews, and celebrated the first snowfall of the year with MacGregor's Milk Stout. An 11oz poured in a Pilsener glass came my way with a fat finger's worth of head, which stuck around for the first few sips before reducing to a thin lace. Carbonation was low, with a medium mouth feel - not terribly heavy, but not thin either. The only possible drawback was that it was almost a little too smooth, making it tempting to just chug it down instead of taking my time.
While I didn't order any food, I did take a good look at the menu and saw a lot of things that sounded delicious, and the prices again seemed to be pretty reasonable. Large sandwiches, wraps, and melts were typically between 6.50-7.50, which I think included some kind of fries.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking these guys out, especially if you're in the mood to try something you've never had on tap before.

This was my first MacGregor's experience and from what my friends told me it was going to be pretty cool. All was well until the bartender opened his mouth. I was going to order a double IPA and my girlfriend was looking for a stout. She noticed that they had a house milk stout but asked me if it might be too sweet for what she was looking for. I said "I don't know, ask the bartender". She did and he looked at her like she was stupid and said "umm..ha, no stouts are sweet, maybe you better try a sample to see if you would even like a stout". My girlfriend isn't a beer expert, but she certainly knows that there are several types of stouts. She also knows that oatmeal stouts and milk stouts (aka SWEET stouts) can be really sweet. She has also tried probably 6-8 different stouts in the past year or so.
So, the food was great, the server was nice, the atmosphere was cool, but the bartender had his head way up his ass and I provided him with no tip because of it.
I know this is newly opened, but... Hey MacGregor's: teach your bartenders about beer so they don't look like morons!
