Spent an hour and a half here from 3.30 pm to 5 pm on the last Friday of November '11
7 or 8 minute walk from the Hbf, fairly easy to navigate
Building dates back approx 100 years, two floors, looked to be more of an eating set up on the top floor (no one up there - but tables being readied), but people also eating on the ground floor
Perhaps half a dozen other tables, but we didn't call at a prime time
Brewing coppers on view
We sat in a wooden backed semi-booth (if anyone has any idea what I mean !!!) with stools surrounding the small circular table
We quickly worked the through the full range during our recess in Regensburg which includes Weissbier Hell, Weissbier Dunkel, Hell and Dunkel
All tidy enough, but not world beaters !
Will try somewhere new on next trip through Regensburg, so not a 'Must return' in my book!
On the other hand, if all other venues were closed, I'd happily go back !

Regensburger Weißbräuhaus is near the city center and was easy to find. Inside it has brewing equipment amidst the bar and tables. It was packed in the bottom so me and my friends went upstairs. There seemed to be a separate wait staff for the top.
The food here is reasonably priced and pretty good. It came quick enough. The waitstaff is also attractive and attentive.
The problem with this place is the beer. I tried the dunkelweizen and helles and both had a bad earthy vegetal taste, certainly an off-flavor. Everyone in the party noticed it. Hopefully it was only a bad batch.

My daughter and I were walking around Regensburg on a miserable, cold, rainy day (28SEP07) when we came upon this place. Being hungry (and thirsty), it was good timing, so we ducked in.
Through a small foyer, the place is long, front to back. Large brew kettles are situated at the near left, and are visible from the outside. On the right are some tables and benches, followed by a an oddly-shaped, zig-zag bar to the right-center. More tables and booths are beyond the bar, on both sides of the room reaching to the rear, where there's another, smaller room with added seating. Many different options abound as to where and how you'd like to dine here. Also, just past the brew kettles at the front is a stairway leading to about 3-4 additional, smaller rooms upstairs. The place is mostly light wood and copper furnishings, with adequate lighting all over. Bier bottles, bier-related artwork, and brewing equipment decorate the place. Low-level pop-music was playing as we dined. They offered 4 biers here, a Helles, Dunkel, Hefeweizen and Dunkelweizen. I tried the latter 2, both being decent, middle of the road representations. Our food was plentiful, tasty and cheap. Caitlin had the Wurst-topf - a tureen with 4 assorted boiled sausages, along with a side of Schwarzbrot (5.70EU). I had the Wurstplatte, a rectangular dish filled with sauerkraut and kartoffelsalat topped by 3 pair of different, grilled Wursts (7.90EU). It was fantastic, and I could not finish. Service was a bit slow, though our gal was the only person on for the entire place, save for the 'tender. A pretty good time was had, though we did have a few chuckles at the odd artwork painted on some of the walls.
