Enjoyed at Mellow Mushroom, poured into a shaker pint.

Shiny copper, like a new penny. Perfect clarity. The thin, half-inch head of fuzzy white, deposits thin strands of lace.

In the nose, there’s a good amount of caramel and burnt sugar, bright apple juice and some nuttiness. Sweet.

More earthiness in the flavor, with the same apple notes and more hops to balance. Soft nuts and biscuits are here as well, while bitterness lingers on the sides of the tongue. Toasted bread finish.

Nice. Mostly sweet, but very drinkable. Not exciting, but it does the trick.

Clear, deep, reddish brown - almost like a cheap cola, with a very small offwhite head that disappears pretty quickly. Leaves pretty good lacing down the glass.

Slightly nutty, grainy, sweet malt aroma, with a little bit of fruit in the background - like a cross between a brown ale and a scotch ale. Not bad.

Very mellow version of the aroma. A balanced taste of nutty, slightly sweet malts with just the tiniest hint of maple at the back end. Nothing really jumps to the forefront, but pretty tasty.

Moderately heavy with very light carbonation - kind of feels like a scotch ale too. Not a bad feel, but not terribly refreshing or reminiscent of the style.

Not bad, I was hoping for something with a little more punch and creativity from the sound of it, and this was very subdued. But it's pretty good overall, and definitely better than the low average score I'm seeing on here I think, personally.
