12 oz bottle, notched June 06, poured into a weissen glass

A—pours hazy honey yellow with small chunks of sediment that swirl, then sink to the bottom, no head, no lacing

S—sweet citrus, lemon grass, wheat, mild spice and some butter notes , too

T—wheat with some autumn spice flavors, interesting, no the normal wheat beer taste to me

M—sharp, light bodied, medium carbonation

D—not bad, but not what I was expecting…it’s more like a spiced ale to me, I have another, but probably not a sessionable beer.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Sounds like a euphemism for something... Anyway, this stuff pours a hazy straw topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises light wheat, very light grass, and a decent smattering of watered-down lemonade. The taste brings in more of the same, with the lemonade definitely not watered-down anymore: it's in your face, together with a bit of orange rind for good measure. Things on the tongue just spiting the absolute hell out of the label for it's fallacious "hint of citrus" comment. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly watery feel. Overall, just too much citrus for this stuff to work, especially considering the consequent lack of any other character.

Served in a Magic Hat/Fox & Parrot pint glass that the owner gave me for the hell of it.

A: Poured a very saturated, peppery orange color, with only a slight haze for a head.

S: Got more orange juice than spice, with a candy-like flair overall. Nice.

T: A bit thin and one dimensional, but with a nice wheat bill. Not yeasty in any way.

M: The extremely low carbonation is a problem to my mind, as well as the sugar bill which detracts from its drinkability.

O: Overall, not a bad beer, but I like my wheats with a bit more velvet.

I'm a biased Colorado resident, but I do enjoy this beer quite a bit. Not the best Hefe but still an enjoyable beer.

Pour: Light Yellow/golden. Looks like a disgusting macro lager

Smell: Lemon and wheat, that's about it.

Taste: Sweet, slight lemon flavor with a strong wheat flavor. Perfect on a nice summer day, or in my case, a few beers in front of a Monday night football game.

Mouthfeel: Very light and refreshing

Overall it's not a complex flavorful brew, but a nice refreshing option none the less. Tommy Knocker makes some solid beers for sure. If you are a Hefeweizen lover then it's definitely worth a try. Personally I prefer Swetty Betty Blonde from Boulder Beer Company.
