Beachwood is located about a block away from the beach. Right on main street that leads you right into the beach it's a great setting for a bar like this. When you walk through the door you walk immediately into the bar area, which runs front to back on your right. If you want to be seated at a table you go to the room on your left and sit down. The bar is in an "L" shape and probably has 14 or 15 seats.
The draft menu is on the wall behind the bar, on little square pieces of chalkboard that are pegged individually to the wall. Each beer get it's own board so they are easy to change out. There are about 25 beers on tap along with a cask serving. The selection is very unique. Each time I've been there I've seen things that I've never seen in this area, or even heard of (ie small offerings from big breweries). Beers are served in proper glassware... weizen glass for hefe's, nonic pints for english beers, (large) goblets for strong beers etc. Pours generally range from $5.50 to 6.50.
There is a big flat screen TV positioned at the left end of the bar, running sports which is very nice.
The service is great, very friendly bartenders.
So far I've tried the BBQ Chicken Nachos, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and smoked BBQ buffalo wings. All have been very good.
If I didn't live 45 minutes from this place I would be there every day, easily.

Seal Beach Beachwood is a cool place, just expect a small venue with a great brew selection and great service. It may be a hole in the wall but the tap selection is excellent and the cellar list is spectacular. With that said, be ready to shell out a bit for your favorite cellared brews (IE Black Tuesday '09 was $80/bottle.) If you don't want to dive into the cellar, plenty of great taps are available and the serive is top notch. If you’re here, you had better have some BBQ....it is phenomenal. Smoked chicken wings, bleu cheese grits, and Bourbon barrel aged hot sauce are just a few of the delicious items on the menu. This is a must stop for food and drink, none the less, a gorgeous location.

This is our go to place when we are in So Cal. We never miss going there and drove over 70 miles one way on our last visit for dinner. The food is great and includes everything from BBQ to gourmet bistro. I always have the BBQ and really love the Pulled Pork, Brisket dinner or Ribs. The smoked asparagus is fantastic but the BBQ beans are a little to spicy for me. My son loves the Wild Mushroom stew on the starter menu. The BBQ chicken was raved about by our friends on our last visit. Just about anything you order you will love. They also have a huge beer list that is varied and changes daily. The service is always friendly and they go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. Value for what you get is very reasonable.

I had my heart set on trying this place out when work flew me out to CA for two days, it was the only thing I was looking forward to. I'm a guy that loves beer and loves BBQ. This place is AWESOME on both counts.
Great selection of beers, especially for such a small place. I tried their Melrose IPA and Kilgore Stout. The Melrose was nice, maybe a bit bitter but it IS an IPA. They ran out of it while I was there :(
The Kilgore was a DAMN good stout and I'm very picky with stouts. Smokey malt flavor, a decent hop showing. I'd like to know what the grain bill for this beer is. The Kilgore would sell off the shelf out here in New England in the winter, absolutely DELICIOUS.
Beechwood only had 3, maybe 4 of their own beers that night and honestly after 4 hours there I forgot everything I tried beyond those two, but I'm 99% certain they were the only beachwood brews I tried. I looked at their tap list when I got back home and a bunch had already rolled over.
The bartenders were great too. They loved talking about the different beers and steered me well all night. So did the people sitting near me and I ended up talking to one of the regulars for probably too long :) Richard from Hawaii, you are the man.
The food is seriously beyond criticism. Brisket, pulled pork and chicken were outstanding without sauce. Actually I tried two sauces and I feel like they dragged the flavor down so don't bother with sauce and eat it as is. The ribs were tremendous. Blue cheese grits and smoked asparagus, awesome.
Beachwood BBQ is the nuts and if I'm ever in southern california I will go here, I don't care what it takes.

The OG Beachwood location is super duper small with a few tables and a bar area. Come at the wrong time and you will be waiting for a while. Even when there is no real crowd it feels a bit cramped. Lots of brick and wood and beer memorabilia around the walls. All of the beers are listed on chalkboard squares in the bar and the dining room area. This location doesn't seem to have as many beers on tap (maybe 15 or so) but definitely has the better bottle list with a surprising number of rare bottles. Quality of all the beer is great and I think the bottle list is their strong point at this location. Half pours are available and they are great about giving you a free taste of something if you are on the fence about it. Food is great as always. Prices for beer and food are quite reasonable. Service is always good even when it gets super busy. Definitely recommended but come early!

Visited here with the missus on a visit to Seal Beach.
We went for lunch and weren't starving nor looking to drink more than one beer.
Tap list was quality: only "must have" for me was Brandy Eclipse, but there were several other quality offerings from Hangar 24, Stllwater, Green Flash, RR (their regular IPA), Jolly Pumpkin, among others., including several of their own brews which I would've tried if I was drinking more.
Food and menu were definitely good. I got the brisket sandwich and carrots which were surprisingly tasty. Several other options also looked very good.
Service was pleasant and prompt; it wasn't too busy on a Saturday in January but that place is SMALL.
Prices werent too bad; it was $8 for 10oz pour of Eclipse.
Definitely a must if you're in the area.

I went to this place twice last week, having gone once last year as well. It is right in the heart of Seal Beach, and as you walk in you see a long bar with another room of tables. The atmosphere is certainly nice, but by no means amazing.
The quality and service were top notch. Beer was served in appropriate glassware, though there was not specific glassware for each beer. The bartenders were very knowledgeable about the beer, even with the more obscure offerings. They were also quite friendly.
The selection was, although very solid, not overwhelming. It was well thought out and had a good mix of locals, semi-rarities, and some imports. The bottle selection was good but not great.
The food was quite good, and everything was reasonably priced. I highly suggest going for a meal and a few beers.

There is nothing I can say about this place, that hasn't already been said, but I just want to add my 2 cents. I am from Tennessee and we have nothing even close to this place. If the constantly changing taps, knowledgable servers, and friendly atmosphere aren't enough, the food is truly outstanding. I have ordered something different every time I have been there. I started out the with pork ribs, and I must say being from Tennessee, I know my way around a hog and Beachwood's is among the best I've had. I travel to Long Beach frequently for business and I am so happy that I have found this gem. If there is a such thing as a perfect place, this would have to be it. I guess the only flaw would be that it only has 22-23 taps, but with the varied selection that they always seem to have you don't even notice.

This place is simply the best! I would move in if they let me.
Best burger around
Tap list so good it is sort of unfair to anyone else in the game.
They do half pours of most anything you see on the list.
Pricing can't be beat.
Even though the place is small and can get crowded they always make sure to keep you updated on wait time and keep you happy at the bar while you wait to be seated.
The place is kept clean. They run a tight ship. I love taking a peek at what beers are on deck when visiting the bathroom too :)
I try to branch out and try something new off their food menu each time. I can't think of many other places who have earned my confidence like that. Try the muscles!
Too many good taps on to ever dip into their bottle list, but that looks legit too.

Encouraged to drop in here on way to Anaheim after disastrous strike-out at Urge the previous day. The website posting of the beer list the previous day had indicated the presence of Russian River, but to my horror it was already off by the time I arrived around 12 PM Sunday. A sage local indicated that the good stuff does not stay around long.
Even at that relatively early hour the place was quite full and I was able to snag a single spot at the bar. It has a small capacity so I hate to think what it would be like of a Saturday evening. I would guess that most of the customers at that time were there for the food, and just maybe a few were there for the excellent selection (Russian River's absence notwithstanding). When you hear things like, "What do you have that's like a Blue Moon?", you know you are not at Toronado.
To me the barmaid was polite if not overly attentive, for she was spending much quality time chatting with my neighbour who was not shying of letting people know how much he spent on sushi. That said, she insisted I not pay for the beer she gave me in error. That was sporting. The selection is quite diverse; the prices are reasonable; I would return.

Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, CA
