My 250th beer review !!!!
Look: Dark colour but when you put it in the light its like a raisin colour at the bottom.
Smell: Rosted malt, cacao, chocolate.
Taste: Roasted malt, toffee, caramel, banana, dark chocolate, the finish is a bit of spices.
Feel: Medium to full body, light to medium carbonation. You do feel that alcohol burn.
So overall would I recommend it ? Sure very well rounded beer.
Would I buy it again ? As a porter sure.

Bottle from Peluso in Montreal.
A - Pours lighter than expected. Coming out of the bottle it's a version of brown. Rusty brown colour. Not entirely opaque, but it's definitely black-ish. One finger of beige head and fairly strong carbonation. Decent spattering of lace and a film of retention.
S - Licorice, red ale qualities. Bready. A tart twang with some fruity notes. Not a whole lot going on.
T - Bitter up front. Roasty with good amount of coffee. Plummy dark fruit character. Maybe a bit of charred something or other and/or smoke. A bit of a tart fruit note and licorice there as well. Vinous? Quite complex and interesting, but I'm not quite convinced I really enjoy off the bat. It gets much better as time goes and well integrated.
M - Mild to medium carbonation, medium to full body, tart dark fruit finish.
O/D - A very interesting Baltic Porter. Complex and nothing like any other example of the style I've tried. Not the greatest beer from Hopfenstark I've had, but it was enjoyable. While some of the elements weren't exactly my style, nothing really offended and it was pretty tasty.

On-tap at Station Ho.St in Montreal
The beer is a dark ruby red/brown in colour, with a small tan head. Head fades quickly, nice lacing.
Smell contains burnt caramel and toffee quite strongly. A sweet aroma. Nice but hard to get anything past that sweet malty scent.
Taste contains burnt caramel, quite malty. Toffee and a touch of cocoa. Finish is all toffee and caramel. This is a sweet beer- not crazily sweet, but noticeably. Not a big roast flavour.
Full bodied, moderately carbonated. Quite sticky. Some astringency.
Overall, pretty good. The caramel/toffee flavours are pretty overpowering. I like those flavours, so the beer works for me, but I can imagine others not being into this one.

Pours a dark brown, near black with little head. Scent leads with strong boozy notes of red wine and blends with dark cocoa and earthy dark roasted and toasted grain. Taste follows suit, pleasant red wine notes clouded by a touch of lingering booziness, notes of cocoa and dark cherry come through, lingering sweetness, solid roasted and toasted dried grain. Thin for the style even with lower carbonation. A touch too much lingering alcohol in the nose and taste and the thin body leave me slightly disappointed in a brewery i have heard a lot of positive things about.

341 ml bottle consumed 1/2/12, from notes. Poured fridge cold into a sampling glass. Bottle received on trade via papat444. Huge thanks for this gem! Cellared since summer 2010.
A: Deep dark body with ruby red edges. Smallish head and decennlackng
S: Very intriguing nose, with licorice, roasted malts and some cocoa
T: Licorice in the body too along with molasses and light notes of smoke in body. A hint of tartness... What a great body...
M: Enjoyable, well carbonated with roasted bitterness sticking a bit with a touch of sweetness too.
O: What a steallar beer. One of the other people sampling found it terribly tart and drainpoured it. I didn't per kegged it that way and loved it. If the tartness wasn't meant to be there, drink it now before it gets too strong. This was aged for 1.5+ years.

rich dark brown in color with the only thing separating it from Jet Black being a nice reddish hue around the sides and bottom. Huge head of tan comes up quickly and lifts to a height of around two inches, never totally settling down, but instead sitting on top with a huge amount of lacing coming down the sides. Aroma is so much different then I was expecting. Rich notes of cherries and dark malts coming through immediately. Hints of a light hoppiness and just mounds and mounds of chocolate at first. Warming though really brought out a large amount of fruit and raspberries and dark cherry seems to dominate here. Each sip was like a decadent dessert trapped in a bottle. Rich, velvet like carbonation, and warm soothing flavors
