Pours out to a hazy golden amber with a large head that subsides quickly. The smell is of malt and caramel, very sweet. The taste is actually very sweet as well. I agree with another reviewer in that the taste reminds me a lot of bubblegum. I expected a bigger hops taste. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, and the flavor of each sip subsides rapidly. The drinkability is fairly good, and it refreshes quite well, but this is on the sweet side for me.

I had 1/2 pint from the Gordon Biersch booth at the Columbus Microbrew Festival 2006. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was, they did a good job. The aroma and flavor was all bananas and cloves, the only real drawback was that this seemed more watery than it should be. Still, it was good.

Had this at the Co Springs airport outlet on a rainy summers night
Pours straw colored & clear with a 2.5 fingers deep white head. Some lacing & okay head retention
S: Huge bubble gum notes & hints of lemon
T: Bubblegum & honey up front, fruittyness follows. Finishes fruitty with hints of band aids & pepper
MF: Medium body with good carbonation
Drinks very easy, this is a hefe that would pass a german, no problem. I enjoyed this

When poured, the color was hazy golden yellow, with a medium amount of foam and nice lace on the side of the glass.
The smell of spices and yeast filled the nose with a pleasant aroma, with just a hint of fruit.
The flavor was of yeast and spices, with a hint of banana. What a pleasant surprise from Gordon Biersch. This to me is there second best bottled beer!

Presented as a cloudy yellow beer with white puffy head. Smell is appropriate for the style with strong notes of spices (cloves, corriander) and bananas. Very weel done. Taste follows throufgh on the smml with bananas, cloves, and bubble gum dominating. Very good example of the style, very refreshing.

Sampled on-tap at the Yard House in Long Beach, CA.
A = reminded me of a cloudly amber lager. pretty light for a hefe.
S = pretty mild with obvious clove and citrus aromas
T = very mild with no strong flavors that really stick out.
M = very thin and watery.
D = this is drinkable, but there are so many better hefe's around, I don't see any reason for ordering this.

It had potential before I tasted it. Nothing particular to praise about this beer, tasted like it had banana syrup poured into it. Something chemically that made it hard to finish. Sometimes gordon biersch goes on sale with the ralphs club card, but i've never been happy with his brews.

On draught at the brewpub, served in a gold-rimmed Weizen glass. Hazy dark amber/golden color with a thick and fluffy off-white head. Thin and sticky lacing. Aroma of yeast and bananas. Medium-bodied and slick with flavors of wheat, banana and yeast. The finish is clean but kind of watery, with wheat and a bit of spice aftertaste. Above average overall, and honestly better than I was expecting.

The Hefe was a nice cloudy yellow with a very good head.
The nose was as expected. Lots of banana & clove scent with a bit of wheat malt as well. It has a nice earthy aroma.
The taste was not quite as good as the smell. It reminded me a bit of those banana bubble gum cigars that you got as a kid. The beer, while not terrible by any means was a bit out of balance.
The mouthfeel was nice and slick and the carbonation was perfect for this style. It was easy to drink and if they could tone down the banana fruit taste a bit and up the malt for balance, it would be a very fine beer.

Pleasantly surprised!
Beautiful hazy golden color topped with a disappointing lack of the usual thick frothy Hefe head, had to ding on points big time here, otherwise had all the fruity, banana-y, clove smells and tastes one expects from the finest Hefe's, went down smooth, I could quaff many, now if they could just do something about that head?

A nice, but subdued head is present (much lower than most hefe's). There is no lace. Dark honey color and cloudy as expected.
Strong wheat aromas (duh?) that reminds me of corriander and banana. The flavor has strong lemon and orange notes. The tartness continues into the aftertaste. Nice full body with good carbonation. This is quintessential wheat beer. If you are a fan of this style, seek this one out while in DC.

Sampled on tap at the Las Vegas brewpub.
This hefeweizen poured a cloudy, yellow color with white foam that settled. The smell was modest banana. The taste was bananas and wheat malt with some yeast and a bit of citrus tartness. Good balance overall. The mouthfeel was smooth, creamy, and dry with medium-light body and low carbonation. The flavor lingered pleasantly. This was a good hefeweizen, though a tad thin.

Just experienced the GB Hefeweizen, which, oddly enough, is currently being advertised as the perfect beer for summer, and available in July...it's February. Go figure.
The beer was presented in a glass that in itself was a work of art. A nice head gave way to an even nicer color, which was a hazy, rich, golden yellow - straw-colored with orange to amber undertones. The visual was nicely offset with a mellow banana-clove bouquet - a nice treat for the olfactory.
However, the mouth feel was much lighter than I expected - nice for a brunch, maybe with a nice, light omelet (seafood or chicken, for example), but overall, I missed the slight "chewy" taste and body that accompanies most Hefes.
Sadly, the aftertaste was virtually nonexistent. I kept waiting for a nice little bite - that sweet balance between fizz and flavor resulting from good conditioning - but the more I drank of this light-bodied brew, the more it took on the characteristics of a somewhat flat soda.
All in all an "OK" brew, but doesn't stand up to the all the GB hype - or their signature garlic fries, for that matter.

A very good Bavarian Hefeweizen. Orangish-gold color with a slight haziness. Nice fruity banana/clove aroma. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with flavor leaning more towards the clovey side. Medium bodied.
Very nice Weihenstephan yeastiness.
Definitely a beer to sit down and drink a few of.
This review was based on the version at the Washington DC brewpub.

This was not one of the better hefe i have had. I had this beer from the Gordon's in Honolulu on my honey moon. The beer had a nice aroma of citrus and my mouth started to water before the first sip. The taste was a little week meaning it did not have the good hefe taste of citrus and babanas that i had wanted. Over all it was a good beer but not the best, i had about 3 pints so the drinkability was good.
Cheers

This beer poured out a golden color with a white head. The aroma had hops and some other elements, but nothing stood out. The taste had hops, but the body was weak and the finish just didn't have the feel you would expect in this style.
