General: Rock Bottom is a micro-brewery that has (to my knowledge) brew only available on tap and "to-go" growlers. This particular review is for the "White Tiger Wheat". It should be known that the White Tiger is a Cincinnati item. This brew's name is a take-off of this connection.
Appearance: This brew taps with a traditional light honey hue. Cloudiness is high, however not abnormal for a wheat beer. Head is superiour in depth and thickness. Lacing is extrordinary. This is truely a photographic selection.
Smell: True to style, the wheat and citrus presence blooms. While the overall body is a little light, the overall aroma is quite pleasant. This is a quinticential wheat beer. My only suggestion would be to raise the aroma volume.
Taste: Wheaty sharpness jumps out. I have tried this selection with and without a lemon...while most experienced drinkers will frown on a lemon, I like the addition. At the bar, a lemon twist was added with a quick request...no problems. The overall "American Wheat Beer" style is evident in this brew.
Mouthfeel: Ok...do I have any complaints at all about this selection? Nope...and the mouthfeel is also excellent. The flavor curve is tapered and subdued. Taste has multiple subtle actions occuring on the palate. I HIGHLY recommend this selection as a session choice or as a great option for "select brew" for experienced drinker guests during a back yard grill out.
Drinkability: Very high drinkability. Not much to say here. This is a wheat beer,so it is a little heavy on the stomache. However, this particular selection, for it's style, is very smooth and light. I recommend this brew. The only unfortunate thing is that the availability is very low.
If you have a chance, jump on it a pint, or better yet get a growler to go.
Prosit!
