A: Served in an imperial pint glass with a good two inches of creamy tab colored head. Beer itself is a glossy black. Good retention, but no lacing.

S: full on roasty malts with some chocolate and coffee to a lesser extent.

T: Mildly sweet on the front end. Lots of roasted malts, chocolate, burnt coffee. A touch of vanilla. Then turns watery and a little bitter.

M: Medium bodied. Very chalky. Mild to moderate bitterness.

O: a decent porter, especially if you appreciate a heavy roast, but the chalkiness is s bit distracting.

It's how much a bag of birdseed costs in Mary Poppins. 'Member? Anyway, this stuff pours a mahogany-tinged black-brown topped by a couple o' fingers of light tan foam. The nose comprises mild roasted malts, walnut, brown sugar, and mild cocoa. The taste holds notes of toasted biscuit, walnut, brown sugar, light roasted malts, and light dark chocolate powder. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a very light carbonation and a fluidly smooth feel. Overall, a very nice porter, one that responds well to cask-conditioning.
