Reviewed from notes 12/23/12. Poured from a 22 oz glass into a 8 oz snifter.
A- pours black with a 1 finger dark tan head. Some bubbles and blotches of lacing remain on the glass.
S- typical bcbs characteristics; big bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, with a nice cherry note.
T- chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, good amount of tart cherries at the finish with some booze and bitterness.
M- full body and medium carbonation. Nice thick feel with, smooth at start with slight effervescence at the finish.
O- great bcbs variant. Cherry works very well and adds a nice layer to the beer. Not sure if cherry will fade or accentuate with time?

Pours an inky black, no light, nice dark brown head, dissipates in similar Bourbon County fashion, which is quickly. Leaves a brown frothy ring. Aroma kicks in with bourbon, chocolate, sweet cherries, vanilla, oak and toffee. Taste is sweet, but not cloying, sweet cherries, hint of rye, bourbon, chocolate. Full bodied, thick and chewy, mild carbonation.
The cherries really give the BCBS a lot of balance and making it super drinkable, with out much noticeable alcohol at all.

Bottled 11/12/12. Thanks jbck109!
A: Pours a thick black color with very low carbonation. A thin dark brown film briefly expressed itself after the pour but disappeared into nothingness rather quickly.
S: Smells strongly of whiskey mixed with rich back cherry juice. Sweet and potent smelling with warming booze, chocolate, and spicy barrel coming through.
T: Follows the nose with strong and potent flavors. Starts off boozy and full of rye whiskey and spicy rye barrel, then huge juicy notes of dark cherry juice take over. The finish is full of chocolate and rye, and the aftertaste has cherry skins, slight vanilla, slight caramel and oak.
M: Thick full body and mouthfeel, low velvet carbonation, drinks extremely smooth.
O: Smooth, rich and very well balanced. Probably my favorite next to Rare. Extremely smooth and rich with some of the best use of cherry I've tasted in a beer. Thanks again Jay!
