Poured from a bomber into a half-pint chalice.

A: Opaque black color with a vanishing sheet of beige bubbles. No lacing remains on the glass.

S: A gentle combination of ale yeast and chocolate opposes assertive and dark cherry liqueur. Despite the spirituous effect, pure alcohol is restrained.

T: Begins sweet, with intense cherry flavor early that appears a bit artificial. The arrival of wood has a moderating influence on the fruit, lending authenticity. Flavors become chocolatey--pudding-like--in the middle. Late acidity is potent in the finish that holds little bitterness. No alcohol is detected.

M: Thick viscosity, very acidic on the palate at times, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: Despite the fruit addition, this beer should not disappoint any who appreciate the anticipated powerful sensory qualities of Goose Island's classic Bourbon County Brand Stout. It achieves redemption of a sort, after the terrible Bramble Rye variant of 2011, with cherry qualities that aren't so much reined in as they are simply more appropriate to the application. It shows some milk stout qualities as well, coming across as soft and chocolatey when acidity was not raging across the palate.

A- Pitch black syrupy body with a thin tan head that fades away quickly.

S- Sweet caramel, vanilla, cherries, sweet bread, grainy rye bread.

T- Sweet vanilla and caramel up front, lots of bourbon similar to the standard BCBS. The middle is where the cherries show up. Tastes like black cherries rolled in sugar, which adds a whole new element to the beer. The finish is very sweet, but tons of malts come through along with some earthy rye.

M- Just enough carbonation, very thick and a definite sipper.

O- Very impressive offering. The cherry is more subtle than I thought it would be, but adds a great element to this beer.

S-Bottle pour from Craft Ale House-PA
A-very dark, good lacing and small tan head remained thru whole glass
S-some sweet fruit on nose, not too sweet, mixed with regular stout backbone
T-Wow. I actually sad WOW outloud (rare). Was not sure I'd like it as almost all "fruit" added beers are not for me. Even cold this was very good and complex with several layers. A later taste when warmed up gave slight sweetness of bourbon (oak, vanilla) and a semi sweet fresh real cherry taste. Very creamy as it swirls around and gives off taste explosions one by one. The finish that lingers is like a very good country cherry pie. The tartness and semi-sweetness is there. Closing my eyes I could almost taste the pie shell flavor mixed with the slight tartness of the cherries. Very complex.
M-very smooth, creamy, so much going on!
O-Ok, I have found a beer with a fruit added that has made me a fan. Very rare already, but this is a special occassion type beer and you need to have it for...with...or AS dessert. Paired with some dark chocolate this would be a long and enjoyable sipper. Kudos to Goose and I hope they bring it back in a year or so as a special brew! I've never given a 5 but this is a rare beer that approaches that perfect 5 level.
