(Served in a nonic)
A- This beer pours a dense ruby body with a reddish hint and a slight reddish hint to the light tan creamy head. No sign of carbonation it was on cask
S- The fresh pale malt and raw grain aromas has some toasted malt support and reminds me of sticking my head in the lauter tun on brew day, very fresh wort.
T- This beer has a warm toasted malty flavor with a fresh caramel malt taste and some softer chocolate malt notes underneath. The finish is balanced between dry and sweet with no real hops flavor showing up.
M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a creamy texture that last and last.
D- This beer has a rich full flavor of freshly crushed malt and grain. This beer should be served with a spoon for breakfast. Great flavor and really well taken care of in the cask. The alcohol and hops are hidden but they are not missed.

Served in an imperial pint glass at the Clybourn brewpub.
My final brew of the afternoon. It pours a clear mahogany (the menu definitely had it right on this count) topped by a finger of dusty khaki foam. The nose comprises light roasted malts, mild cocoa powder, toffee, walnut, and very light maple syrup. The taste brings in more of the same, with the roast, the cocoa, and the syrup coming on a bit stronger than before. The body is a light medium, with a light carbonation and a smooth feel. Overall, a very nice little brown ale, a pleasure from the hand engine.

Cask offering at GI Clybourn. Served in a mini-pint.
A: Pours a purplish brown with a nice light brown head.
S: Coffee, pleasant roasted grain, chocolate.
T: Smooth roasted grain, milk chocolate, ground coffee, whole wheat bread. Very creamy and chocolaty, very little bitterness. Bit of a crisp hop bite.
M: Slight carbonation, very creamy.
O: Really nice brown ale, although it lacks the slight fruity crispness of some of the traditional English browns.

On tap into a tasting glass at GI...Dark brown pour, the other side is trying to poke through, a little clear. Lots of amber on the fringes. A light off white head that forms only a ring, poor lacing and retention...The aroma is really roasty, bursts out at you. Hint of nut and chocolate, but not really doing it for me...The taste is totally dead on the front, very English. Finish is awesome is its ton of rich, sweet, roasted chocolate. Really savory, love that. Chocolate milk resemblance.
Bad start, great finish. If you like chocolate give it a try.

Grabbed this growler for drinking during the Broncos/Texans game
A- Pours a medium amber with a nice amount of head for a growlered beer, about 1.5 inches in my Kuhnhenn's tulip
S- Tons of roast malts and a tiny amount of bitter hops. Beyond the malt there isn't too much going on but its a nice scent
T- Really good chocolate front with a roast middle and mild ending. Would certainly pair well with some milk chocolate
M- This is the facet of the beer that reminds me its a brown ale and not a porter or stout. Really thin and bubbly
O- I'd love these flavors to show up in a stout. Overall I liked it and am glad to have the whole growler

On tap at the Clybourn location - December 27, 2010.
Pours a dark brownish color with a bit of a crimson hue. Single-finger off-white head falls pretty quickly into a thin collar. The nose is pretty plain with a bit of caramel and semi-sweet chocolate. A slight amount of diacetyl and butter there as well. Not an unacceptable level, but noticeable. Not sure if this is generally present in either of the main branches of the English brown category, but it does seem a bit out of place. Taste is slight roast and chocolate as well as a bit of buttered toffee. Desirable or not, it doesn't quite fit with the chocolate-esque character of this beer. Medium body and creamy. Okay overall, but really was not for me.
