Poured from a 22oz bottle into a snifter.

A - Pitch black, viscous, oily. A thin tan head lasts only briefly before fading.

S - Smells lovely. Mostly bourbon, but also some coffee and vanilla. Very roasty.

T - The first few sips taste strongly of bourbon. Following those my tongue acclimates and begins to taste a lot of vanilla, a bit of cocoa, and of course coffee. The taste is dominated by alcohol though, but with a 13% brew that is to be expected. In fact, without the high alcohol content to provide a strong bite, the beer would be too cloying. It's definitely not a beginner's beer, but it works well for the advanced pallet.

M - I'm finding the alcohol to be a bit much. I love the oily and syrupy nature of the beer, and the taste as the beer runs over the tongue is very complex. But the alcohol makes anything but sips nearly impossibly.

D - Again, this is not a beginner beer. Anyone who thinks they're going to sit down and drink a full bomber is probably mistaken. This is the type of beer where a bomber will be quite sufficient for 2 or 3 people to share after a nice meal.

Overall this is an excellent beer. But in my eyes, it is a beer to be searved as a nightcap, or as a dessert after a nice meal. This is a beer that demandds your attention.
