finally got around to cracking one of these. I have heard the coffee fades quickly, so with almost a year on this i am expecting just a slight bit of coffee. here's the results.

Poured into a new belgium tulip/snifter from a 22oz bomber.

Pours a very very dark, thick viscous motor oil like black color with a small, almost non existent tan head. There is a very evident alcohol residue coming down the sides of the glass after swirling. The aroma is big bold vanilla and mocha aromas. some bitter espresso notes and some bourbon, but much more subdued bourbon than the regular bcbs. This really seems balanced and i can pick up the coffee easily. Great caramel or toffee sweetness on the aromas too. The taste is simply balanced. Really nice coffee integrated into the deep malty and chocolate body. Great bourbon integration and not a smack over the face with the bourbon this time around. Great dry finish on this, though it does have some serious booze coming through on the back end. Not perfect, but near perfection on this bourbon barrel aged stout. Mouthfeel is great to. It has a nice level of carbonation that really works well with this brew as its low carbonated. This is a definite sipper, though it is something that would be better shared than drank on its own, its still easy to put back. Worth seeking out for sure.
