22oz - Bottled October 1st, 2010 - Poured into my Goose Island stemware...
Pours a deep, dark brownish red, but when held to the light, this beer really glows. Ruby red with dark orange edges, very nice clarity. Only a thin cap of white head forms and quickly recedes into a haze that remains on top of the beer for much of the drink...
Tart cherries are abundant in the nose, but they are somewhat overshadowed a strong acetic acid/vinegar aroma. Vinous. When swirled, the aromas definitely open up, the vinegar falls away and the nose becomes largely musty and funky, barnyard. Oak is strong, "drying" out the smell a bit...
Sour dark cherries over a bed of acetic acid. Not overly sour, but definitely a good kick of tart while being quite acidic. The middle and finish is largely musty and funky, finishes very dry and oaky with creamy/smooth hint of vanilla in the very end...
Medium bodied and well carbonated. The bubbles open up the flavors a bit, but it makes the taste fall away fast, the finish is quite brief, leaving behind a burning acidity on my lips and tongue, and a lingering dryness...
Pretty good beer overall. Fruitiness could be intensified a bit, and the acidity could be toned down, but I still enjoyed this beer. Glad I didn't love it, cause then I'd have to try to find some more...

22oz bottle into LA teku glass. Thanks Jay! Bottled 7/31/2012.
A: Pours a deep brown cola color with three fingers of foamy short-lived tan head that faded into a faint collar.
S: Vinous barrel notes are prominent, tart tannins, faint date, caramel and honey, with dark cherry skins and a splash of cranberry juice. Dry smelling.
T: Milder than the nose. Buttery and vinous barrel, caramel, cranberry juice, leather, with dark cherry juice and skins in the finish.
M: Dry but not crazy, medium body, low splashy carbonation with a bit of sharp acidic bite.
O: Delicious, not as good as Juliet or some of their others sours but a great and drinkable Flanders. Thanks again, jbck109.
