Bottle dated 2/18/2011. Poured into a tulip.
Appearance. Very effervescent pale orange in color. Crystal clear. Pours with 5 fingers of head which sticks around for quite a while, but eventually leaves a sticky fluffy lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell. Berry-like up front, with some definite sourness in the very immediate background. Also very floral and a bit clovey.
Taste. Starts out with some slight bitterness, which quickly combines with some funky sourness that overwhelms the palate for a bit. It cools down a bit to reveal some of the floral notes picked up in the smell. A slight amount of fruity sweetness comes in, but not to overwhelm a now tart dominant flavor. The finish is dry and filled with some strawberry tinged sourness.
Mouthfeel. Nice light to moderate body with a fairly high amount of carbonation.
A very pleasent, light sipper. I absolutely love the complexity of the taste, and especially the restrained sourness/funk/tartness. The bretanomyces was used very admirably here. The bottle is about a year old, so I'm wondering how much that this effects the flavor, or if its just released with some age on it...

A 355ml bottle with a bottled-on date of 28 Oct 2010 - I've been cellaring this one in my garage for a while. Acquired ages ago from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as a Belgian Style Ale.
Poured into a Delirium chalice. Bottle conditioned. A bright, hazy sunset-amber hue with visible sediment and plentiful carbonation. Produces a large head of fluffy white foam with good retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Nice lacing clings to the side of the glass. Aroma of tart, fruity yeast esters with hints of green apples, faint banana, straw/hay, spice, mild funk and earthiness. Slightly sweet, with a touch of warming alcohol in the background.
Tastes of fruity yeast esters with an acidic character and a bone-dry finish. Notes of unripe apples, apricots, spice, subtle clove, faint banana, mild funkiness and earthy yeast. Delicate sourness; almost like Lactobacillus. Highly attenuated, with hints of Brett and warming booze. Mild but exceedingly dry upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and good body - neither too thick nor too thin. Rather astringent, with an aftertaste of fruity, earthy yeast, mild tartness and subtle funk.
Quality - GI have done a superb job with this Belgian ale. Could easily pass for the genuine article. It looks sublime, while the aroma and flavour exude tart, fruity notes that possess a classic Belgian character. Light barnyard funk adds depth. Body is pitch-perfect. Well-rounded; to which the age of the bottle probably contributed. Very nice and highly drinkable - definitely worth trying if you come across it.

This poured hazy and amber with not so much carbonation and just a finger of foam. Good lace. Really fruity and floral nose on this beer. I can smell the pilsner malt and I love that. It’s got a little booze in the nose but I’m not offended. There’s some caramel as it warms, a little spice and a bit of cinnamon. This beer is very rich on the palate. Orangey, Belgian yeast, musty, then pepper and coriander and hop bitter. Really well played like good hand in cards. Malt is pretty sweet and the body is a touch syrupy. This one is pretty wild with complexity but never disintegrates. Nice balance, crisp dry finish and puts bitter and honey together with a brett character and is inviting and intoxicating
