A - Pours a clear dark gold with a two-finger white head. Left decent lacing.

S- Lemon zest and spice up front, followed by a moderate amount of grapefruit and wheat. Quite citrusy as well.

T - Opens up fruity with grapefruit and a small amount of banana. A little bit of malt comes through on the tail end and then the taste tappers off. The taste is decent enough but it simply doesn't stick around for very long.

M - Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Quite spicy as it sits.

O - Overall, It was pretty solid although nothing great. Very easy drinking, but with no true complexity. Would fare well as a summer beer.

A very nice aroma, the hops hits the palate though not over-powering; silky smooth going down leaving a mouthful of hops and a citrusy after taste. I can drink lots of this beer all day long, I love it!...and remember folks: continue to drink beer and support your local brewery. HOG

Appearance: Straw yellow; small head, long lasting; effervescent

Aroma: Malty; citrusy (orange-like from hops); a bit like Schneider's Hopfenweisse; different, but good

Taste: Starts out malty and bitter with dry notes; citrus notes in the mid; finishes dry and hoppy; actually quite good

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Serving: Bottle poured into tulip glass
Served: 12 Jun 13

Appearance: A beautiful copper, amber color, with a nice frothy two finger head that rather disappointedly quickly diminishes to a small sheen of bubbles on the top. Laces down the side of the tulip, but this seems to also dissipate as the head goes down.

Smell: A nice smell of hops in this one. Nothing overpowering, but the hops are very assertively there. The beer smells clean and fresh. Smells like an IPA.

Taste: Tastes great. One of the most balanced IPAs I've had. Obviously that is heavily determined by the fact that this is an 'English' style IPA rather than an American hop bomb. The hops are definitely assertive and dominate the flavor profile, but does not wreck your palate as some American IPAs might. Could probably drink a few of these before exhausting your palate. Finishes dry.

Mouthfeel: This is the only part of this beer that I can find fault. It seems too heavily carbonated. It feels like a soda, almost. I would have preferred just a touch less carbonation, as it makes the beer a little too hard-edged compared to the overall mellowness of the hops in the taste. The harsh carbonation makes this beer finish drier than necessary.

Overall: This is a great IPA, no getting around it. It is wonderfully balanced- it won't destroy your palate, but it also provides a nice kick of hop flavor that you would want from an IPA. I could imagine this would be a good beer for those new to IPAs, or for those of us who want to have multiple IPAs in one sitting and still be able to taste our food and feel our tongues.
