A: Pours a deep red/cranberry with an off-white, almost light pinkish head with great lace. Holding up to the light gives this a beautiful ruby color.
S: A fig-like smell with some nice back spice. Malts are present with small hints of raspberries and blackberries.
T: Light grape with other subtle fruits with a dry malt back. Taste is not as pronounced as the smell but still good.
M: Medium body while going down smooth. Not much mouth feel as the tastes do not linger for very long.
O: A good, but not great red ale. I enjoy some aspects about the smell, but the taste sort of fell short for me.

Pours a brilliantly clear reddish amber with a dense cream colored head that lingers .
Aroma is sweet caramel malt, floral hop, grapefruit and pine.
Medium body, fairly low carbonation, the sip ends with a slightly astringent feel.
Flavor begins with muted grapefruit notes, sweet malt, and ends with a bitter tea-like finish.
Overall a decent offering, a bit more hop bitterness than expected. There is a slight phenolic character that becomes more evident as the beer warms, but it likely would be undetectable in the bottle or on tap.

A - Copper colored beer that had one finger of white head that receded to a small cap with no ring.
S - Smell is kind of dull, some caramel malts and a muted hop profile. Not a whole lot going on, but not offensive.
T - Strong caramel backbone with a healthy, and surprising given the aroma, dose of hops. A lot of citrus, and resin, but not real piney. This is surpringly good tasting.
M - Slightly creamy with some fizz and carbonation, medium bodied.
O - I was very impressed with this beer, and am usually not a fan of the Amber/Red varieties. Good stuff if you are looking for a hoppy version of one.

On tap into a tasting glass...A light clear and bright amber. An off white head, ok retention...A boring aroma that does not show off the hops like I was expecting or the tastes reveals...The taste is a really good hoppy red beer. Caramel backbone, sweet malts to start but a big burst of pine pines on the back, fresh, seems dry hopped. Powerful, flavorful and very tasty to drink if you want a hoppy beer with flavor. Slight metallic resin finish that I could do without.
Worth trying.

This was a deep orange beer with an off-white head that had gorgeous lacing, smelling like toasted malts and pine/citrus hops with both of those elements very prominent. They merge in the taste into a beer with a strong initial hop bite merging into a silky caramel-tasting beer with more hop oils at the end. The aftertaste is a little bit drying, but that just makes you want to drink more of those creamy toasted malts. Very strong beer overall.

Great looking beer! It could be that I was drinking this on the first chilly day in autumn, but the golden brown color, and rocky dollop of tan foam was all that I could ask for. head retention was very good, leaving brussels lace down the glass as I drank.
The beer is slightly aromatically challenged, although pleasing notes of malt do slip through restrained piny hop smell.
The beer has a very smooth malt taste, with the hops following along on the back end, but never getting out of balance. That said, the hops do linger on, leaving a slightly bitter taste in the mouth, stopping just short of astringent.
Great creamy mouth feel with a slight hop bite that goes along well with the significant fizz of the carbonation make it very enjoyable to drink. Quite quenching as well, and easily easy to gulp or sip.

on cask at the Clybourn Brewpub in Chicago. pours a rich amber with garnet highlights and one and a half fingers of light tan, creamy head that has excellent retention and leaves solid lacings. looks great in the glass.
aroma is of light caramel malts with a wonderfully fresh piney and spicy hop note. perfectly balanced in the nose with a wonderfully rich profile and a very pleasant overall character.
taste is of caramel malts up front with a touch of spicy hops on the back end, though much less pronounced than the aroma would suggest. lightly bland overall and flat from the hand pumps; true to a great cask brew.
mouthfeel is medium bodied and super smooth on the palate with a malty texture and a finish of residual caramelized sugars and semi-dry caramel.
drinkability is great. a solid brew on cask with a wonderfully malty profile and an aromatic bouquet of fresh hops. could be a bit hoppier on the finish, but still a solid session brew. cheers!

Looking forward to tasting this beer for a long time, and, I confess, it took until it went on sale for me to do so. A 25 oz serving is perfect, a couple glasses is just right for a Sunday afternoon.
Red rust color with sparks flying through (yes, sparks!) which was probably the carbonation rising to the top. A thick head disippated very slowly, leaving behind a pelasant amount of lacing.
Smell was fruity and malty, with hints of spice.
Taste was roasty and smooth, with a heavier mouthfeel than what I was expecting. A very slight hint of fruit, reminding me of port wine.
Good drinkability and hope for more. Who knows, I might even pick it up at regular price next time!

This is pretty damned good brew. Got it at Sam's kitty corner from the G I Brewery a few months ago. Poured a light tan decent head and some lace. Color is a medium to dark amber with red highlights. Flavor's where it really stands out - plenty of roasty, caramel, toffee malt and enough hop to balance it. Very good body and carbonation. Great finish too; leaves with a desire for another sip. Session beer for sure.

Red Felt has a nice clear copper color, and poured with a thick two-finger head. The lacing was very good.
The predominant aroma is hops -- a beautifully complex blend of spicy, herbal, floral, and citrusy qualities. Behind the hops there is quite a bit of caramel.
After the nose of this brew, the taste is no surprise. There are plenty of spicy and citrusy hop flavors, and caramel maltiness is certainly noticeable. As it warms, the complexity builds: biscuit, chocolate, toast, and other notes.
This medium-bodied beer is well-carbonated yet smooth.
Unfortunately, I could only get my hands on one of these, but I would certainly enjoy having more.

22oz bomber, scooped at armanetti's in Chicago. consumed while making dinner and watching vt-bama
bottled on 4-10-09, making this one probably less than prime
appearance: served in an unmarked chalice, dull copper-amber body, beige froth with minimal lace
smell: aromas of caramel, faded grassy hops, sweet, a little grainy
taste: 55 IBU's at play in this one - the green hops are still active but have that fading taste - i bet this one would be tasty fresh on tap. There is a big caramel-sweetness present, bready malts. all in all, a strong amber
mouthfeel: medium body, light hop bitterness
drinkability: good

A: Clear copper in color. Pours with about an 1/8th inch of light tan head that leaves a minimal amount of lacing.
S: Strong floral hops with some underlying spice.
T: Sweet, not malty sweet, more like candy sweet. Noticeable floral hops adds to the candy quality of this beer. While this one is hoppy for sure, the bitterness is held in check.
M: Medium body and medium carbonation.
D: A good beer with noticeable hop character. Ironically, this one comes off as being one of GI's hoppier beers, even though its a style that is typically less hoppy. Only thing detracting from this one is the odd candy-like sweetness.

Brown bomber with a born on date, cellaring notes and Brewmaster's notes. I like getting all the information.
The beer is a dark amber with a clingy beige head and nice lacing. There is a slight chill haze.
The beer has an inviting aroma of citrus, caramel, pine and fresh grains.
The taste is well balanced. There is plenty of citrusy bitterness but it is followed by sweet malts. There is caramel, light brown sugar, and a bit of pine sap. The 55 IBUs are never hidden but the 4 types of malts more than pull their weight.
The mouth is pleasantly thickish and smooth. Wow what an easy drinker. I would love to see this in 12 packs and hope to see it on cask.

Bomber dated 4/9/09 poured into a standard pint glass.
Appearance: Golden reddish hugh with 2 fingers of soft foam. Soft carbonation leaves some serious lacing.
Smell: Wonderful citrus earthy aromoa. Sweet malt also picked up. Very complex aroma.
Taste: Great up front hop taste. Perfect example of a hoppy beer that isn't tremendously bitter.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied malt with great hop flavor...almost creamy--but not.
Drinkability: Very much so. I could stick with this all night very easily.
Overall: A very drinkable beer that is complex and hoppy in flavor and aroma. An excellent example of a late hopped red ale. I loved drinking this an look forward to more of them.
